I ordered the blue color because I thought it wouldn’t be as bright as red. The numbers are big and easy to read during the day and night. However the brightness adjustments are negligible. It doesn’t matter if the brightness is low, medium or high - it is BRIGHT. It doesn’t disturb my sleep but if I happen to wake during the night and I look to see what time it is I find the brightness a bit blinding. (Updated) This clock is handy for me as a second clock near my bed. (Earlier I had thought the numbers were too dim to see well, but I decided to try brand new batteries and it works great now.) I wish it wasn't quite so lightweight that I feel the need to be careful if I might bump it or knock it off the nightstand. That's mostly because I have wooden floors that are not friendly to land on. (I've not needed to try the alarm feature, so I can't speak to that.) ... show more

We got a new cable TV box and the new version has no clock. So we bought this to put up by the TV. Even on the dim brightness setting it is very bright. And battery powered so no wires. Only question will be how long do the batteries last? I think the write up suggests up to a year so we'll see how that works out. This alarm clock is exactly what I was looking for. It’s more traditional clock because it stays lit but this one is battery operated. My child loses all sense of time while in the bathroom. Now he has no excuse for being late to school.
