Description stated “outlet powered” and should have stated usb charge required such as other clocks are advertised. I purchased this for my elderly mother that needs an ac outlet powered clock not a usb outlet powered clock. Inaccurate advertisement description. There is a large range of dimming capability. You can make the light quite bright or very dim. You can make the light dim enough that with the light on in the room you might not even hardly see it unless the lights are off.
