  • Plenty of power
Size: 4000 Watt
4000 watt model has plenty of power for my custom built camper van. Powers the 2 1/2 gallon hot water tank at 1200 watts or the counter top oven pulling nearly 1600 watts. I haven't tried running both of these large watt items at the same time. So far so good, this replaced a cheap 3000 watt that overheated with the big draws. Seems like good quality and good construction. The wire gauges recommended in the instructions for hard wiring were incorrect. Comes with 0 gauge cables, fuse and wired remote. Overall great item. Working well so far. ... show more

  • Very nice MSW Inverter Kit for the money
Size: 1100 Watt
I received the Krieger 1100w MSW inverter kit and was impressed by the completeness of the packaging, contents, and the support instructions. This unit is primarily going to be used to power my snow melting system so I really did NOT need a PSW inverter for this application. But after owning another MSW (power bright) I decided to take a chance on this kit. First off, the packaging is tight, rugged, and informative right on the package. Second, you get a beefy set of 4awg cables with an ANL fuse/holder as well as a remote. I have not tested the remote yet, but I have loaded the unit to 700 watts just to make sure it was NOT DOA. In initial testing, the LCD meter is a nice touch and I did confirm the LCD reading was within about 5% of one other meter from a watts perspective with voltage reading being about the same. I tested the unit using a skillset drill and it took the load well. I added 650 watts of snow melters separately and let it run 30 minutes down to a voltage of about 11.7 and the fan never came on. However, in full disclosure my garage was 38 degrees and I honestly was not expecting the fan to come on. The units other features that the positive and negative are actually beefy using a bolt and lock washer which I would expect to see on a unit that could be in a RV. Additionally, Krieger supplies little plastic covers for the terminal lugs in addition to a ground lug. My only two complaints are that the unit is a plastic cover rather than aluminum alloy and the remote jack is on the back a bit too to the negative terminal. However, the remote jack and the clearance I just mentioned was due to the testing environment. All in all time will tell if it lasts, but I did call customer service a month before buying the unit JUST to see if they existed and they even provided me with an email on PSW inverters made by power bright ( a subsidiary) I believe. But for a small 1100w MSW inverter and all the trimmings needed to safely wire it up I figured for $85 it was worth giving Krieger a shot. I normally don't do reviews but my initial impression was very good after receiving a few DOA units from other firms. My only compensation for this review is an additional six months of warranty and I think it only fair I call that out for those people who read reviews before making a purchase decision. I cannot comment on the 1500 or higher units or how they are made (plastic covers?), but if you are looking for a MSW inverter in the 1000w range, you may want to give Krieger a serious look considering they offer a three year parts and labor warranty which NO ONE else does in this industry and price point. • Great product, needs longer cables
Size: 1100 Watt
KR1100 review. This inverter is perfect for someone who wants to add power outlets to run electronics like a small vacuum, TV, and gaming system for road trips as well as add a dedicated Ipad 2.1A usb and a standard 1.0A for cell phones. Upon receiving the package I immediately noticed the quality packaging and weight of the inverter. When I opened it the quality of the packaging inverter and accessories was impressive. Its really high quality materials throughout and protected for shipment. The only shortcoming in the materials is the length of the power cables. 3ft is too short to run inside a car unless your battery is located inside the trunk or cab of your vehicle. I went to a local car stereo installation shop and had 12' cables built for my installation in a van. The 4AWG cables cost $70 out the door. I could have built my own and saved some $ but didn't want the hassle. Installation was pretty easy under the front passenger seat of my van. I did have to drill a hole through my firewall to run cables (super easy) and cut a hole in the base of my passenger seat to mount the remote power switch (required drilling 4 holes and using a jigsaw with metal blade to accomplish). Ran the cables through the firewall and under the carpet to the inverter. Hooked up the cables at the battery and inverter and the installation was done. The remote power switch is a really cool feature as you can install it practically anywhere and you no longer have to access the inverter to turn it on/off. Inverter powered up with no issues and it set off an alarm that the battery was running low. We started the van and the alarm turned off. The display tells you either the amount of volts coming from the battery or the amount of watts being used by the accessories you have plugged in. Display is very easy to read and understand. We immediately plugged in a small vacuum rated at 600 watts and the inverter display showed 588 watts under load. The inverter didn't hesitate or surge and didn't shut off like a lower wattage inverter does. Overall a great inverter and Im happy with my purchase. Would give it 5 stars if the manufacturer charged a little more and provided 10ft cables with the inverter. ... show more
