  • I was pleased with the thickness but disappointed in the workmanship and ...
Style: Ultra Heavy Duty Protection, 16-mil Color: Silver/White Size: 20 x 30-Foot
This was purchased in Nov 2016 and its been less than 2 years but the tarp only held up through the 2016 winter. By the summer of 2017 I noticed it was looking scruffy, that the seams looked especially worn but I didn't realize it wouldn't be water proof for the 2017 winter. All the stuff I had stored underneath got wet and had to be thrown out. I live in southern CA so the winters are not harsh, just rainy but the summers can get hot so maybe it was the heat from the 2017 summer that did it in. I was pleased with the thickness but disappointed in the workmanship and durability. I've attached 3 photos showing you the seams as they are today. The tarp was over $100 so I did expect it to last more than 1 rainy winter. ... show more

  • Absolute junk, tore apart the 1st use in light breeze
Style: Ultra Heavy Duty Protection, 16-mil Color: Silver/White Size: 20 x 40-Foot
Absolute junk! Tore apart the first time we used it. Sadly we purchased it way in advance of our wedding reception so it can’t be returned, such a waste of money. We attached it using almost every grommet, but 1/2 later when there was a breeze the corners tore off, then a bunch of the grommets. The reinforcement “string” in the edges does nothing to stop the ripping. Check out these pictures. ... show more

  • Poor Quality Tarp - I Will Not Buy Kotap Again
Style: Ultra Heavy Duty Protection, 16-mil Color: Silver-white Size: 10 ft. X 12 ft.
I have a loaded trailer with a leaking roof and I needed a quick fix. I chose this tarp and wish I hadn 't. Out of the wrapper it had a long-side seam that looked so questionable I taped the seam before I tied the tarp down. And when I tied it down, the fabric split away from (at least) 4 of the grommets. And forget the plastic "reinforcement" on the corners - they are not sewn into the fabric, so all they do is mask it as it splits. The only reason I'm not returning this tarp is that the return process would take more of my time than it's worth. This is a poor quality tarp. I will not be buying Kotap products again. ... show more

  • Looks ARE DECEIVING!... I really hate submitting this, sorry “tarp people”. Just a poor product across the board!
Style: Ultra Heavy Duty Protection, 16-mil Color: Silver/White Size: 20 x 30-Foot
Have not installed this yet... it's heavy! So much heavier than the 9-10 mil covers I can buy locally I have it laying out in the sun, makes it easier to handle. I will "mic" this in a bit to double check the thickness. It was in the neighborhood of .015” 915-16 mil) ***UPDATE***1 year later in the Az sunlight... well.i will say that it certainly is heavy, as for the “topping” or “coating” or whatever their technical name for the “soup” that they pour over these with it’s no better than the cheapest blue ones from that infamous “FREIGHT” store. 10 months, thru 1 year is the very best case for me over a “small round top storage building” partially in the shade! ( 18’ x 10’ wide, 7’9” ceiling height) I’’ve gotten so good at pulling these over my building (even the heaviest by myself) I just pull it on “center” with a small winch and a couple guide ropes. I think my building is 5 deep now in covers. Actually, IF you look at this from 10’ you’d think it’s acceptable shape, just don’t put a light (drop or fluorescent) under the tarp in broad daylight... you’ll see the light will shine right through. I’ve asked all the so called “professionals” including a shop in Phoenix AZ that builds custom sized poly tarps, about putting a new “top coat” of something on this (I was thinking along the lines of that white flexible coating used for the roofs in RV’s, motor homes, trailers. I think that would be too thick, but then thats the problem with these, even thought it’s rated as HEAVIER that just means that more of that top coat will fall in BIGGER FLAKES on your feet and concrete... just more to broom up. I’m sure with just one “gust” and this one will be gone! And I will either get covered up again over AGAIN or just replace... I don’think It’s a bit better than the 10mil tarps, purdchased locally. I used to do my own grommets and snaps to mount this down for a year... it’s not worth the waste of time anymore. 10-12 months BEST CASE use and the coating comes off. Very disappointed in AZ. ... show more

  • Very VeryTough material and eyelets.
Style: Heavy Duty Protection, 10-mil Color: Silver Size: 12 ft. X 16 ft.
I bought a new car in the spring of 2017 and was not going to leave it to the weather like the others. I had to take my 3 lawn tractors out of the garage. Where to put them out of the weather? I bought a 12x16 Blue Mountain heavy duty tarp (silver) @ Lowe's and hung it off of the back porch lean to fashion. It worked, but couple of months later back to Lowe's for another because the eyelets had been torn out from wind and the weight of some rain. Same thing with the second and 3rd. The sun summer sun burned the silver color blue mountain material nearly to dust. I've used others tarps to cover fire wood etc. and none of them were any better. Then after the 3rd blue mountain I ordered 2 of these tarps on Amazon. The first has been up since last November (2017). All last winter and all this summer and it is still working fine. I had to use 2 x 4s to prop up the center to help with rain pooling and it didn't puncture theses tarps. These suckers are tough. One full year and still no tares and summer didn't burn it up! The second is sitting in the shed for when I need it. THEY ARE VERY GOOD TARPS and less expensive than others. If you need a good tarp I highly recommend this one! Update 2-26-18: I has now been through it's second winter hanging lean to fashion off the back porch. Holding up very well still. I've put 2 small tears in it (my fault) but they've yet to rip larger with wind or weather. The second is still in the shed waiting. ... show more
