  • Highend keyboard action at consumer piano price.
I think this is best described as a gigging digital piano, and not the best "first piano for the living room and kids to learn on". I'll explain, other digital pianos have built in speakers, drum patterns and similar "family digital piano" type of features. This one doesn't have speakers and no drums or one finger chord playing, but it does have the great feeling RH3 weighted action Keybead usually reserved for much more expensive digital pianos. This and the simplicity of the unit, the quality of the sounds makes it what I call a gigging piano. As a keyboard player trained on pianos, I was looking for that type of feel so I drove to music stores and tried all the different digital pianos from Yahama, Casio, Williams and more. The Korg RH3 keybead had the best feel for me and for the $629 price I bought it. The unit arrived and the box was beat up but not terrible. I got it setup with my monitor speakers, and played a few minutes, feeling how much I liked the key action. Unfortunately that's when I saw the last black key was broken (odd angle), made mechanical noises when I pressed it and didn't play the piano note. Damaged in shipping. So I had to send the piano back. I'm getting a new one tomorrow. If you're a family looking to purchase you first for your kids to learn on, I would recommend one with speakers built in. If you have a home studio and need/want a digital piano that works as a midi keyboard controller for your DAW...this works great. If you're a gigging piano player that will have PA/Amp/Speakers, this will be great. ... show more

  • Got delivered from seller with broken keys
Had to return it. Keyboard was delivered with several broken/ inactive keys. Going by other reviews, seems like a seller specific issue, nothing to do with Amazon or the actual keyboard

  • Great, portable keyboard for learning or performing. Shipping is scary.
This is an amazing digital piano. The weighted keys feel great and the sound is awesome. This is my first purchase of a digital piano, as I have an upright piano at home. I purchased this because I wanted something I could play at night without disturbing others in the house, and to travel when I am going to be away from home for a while. The feel of the keys is as good, if not better, than any other digital pianos I tried before buying this. I read a ton of people claiming other pianos had better keys, but I believe they have a bias because they are used to their current digital piano and this just felt different to them. The piano itself is very compact. It has a standard headphone jack on the front, and both mono and midi connections on the back. The quality audio from the headphones is great (I have AKG K702 headphones). I have also fed it into my usb audio interface and played back through the PC, which was also good (been using flokey's website for new songs to learn). SHIPPING: This is more a problem with the shipping company then the retailer or the piano, but this package showed up in terrible condition. The box had obviously been dropped, and the side had been torn open and taped back closed. The piano itself was exposed and could have easily been damaged. Luckily mine had not suffered any cosmetic damage. I have this problem regularly when ordering heavier objects, the carriers drop them 50-60% of the time. I would happily pay additional shipping to have these kinds of purchased placed in additional packaging to protect them further. ... show more

  • Great for classical and rock piano.
I've been playing mine for 5 years, connected to a couple of JBL Studio Monitors. Sounds great and touch is great. The harpsichord and organ sounds are pretty good, as well as some freaky ethereal sounds. I've also enjoyed experimenting with some of the nonstandard tunings. I'm sorry that several buyers have experienced packaging issues. Mine worked fine out of the box. ... show more

  • There were several keys that did not work
There were keys that were loose and did not work. For a heavy, expensive item, this was a disappointment. Fortunately, it was accepted as a return including coverage for shipping.

  • Good keyboard, arrived broken
Packaging seemed fine, but arrived with lower Bb key loose to the point of being unplayable

  • good for beginner
Great keyboard. No speaker, so it's a great choice for the players who has AV receiver and speakers already because you don't need to pay anything to the embedded speakers.

  • A top tier piano action in a portable digital keyboard.
Having played professionally on Grand pianos, I wanted the same feel on a portable digital piano. At any price, but particularly at this price, the Korg D1 delivers the accurate feel and touch that I was looking for. Highly recommend as a studio or live performing keyboard.
