  • Quiet, efficient, and a perfect size!
Style: 8,000 BTUs
I just installed this window unit today and I'm already loving it! The instruction manual is a little confusing; I ended up just installing it how I saw fit for my situation. It is a hot and humid day today and the inside temperature of my house was 85°F. After installing, the unit ran a couple of hours and what a difference! It's a pleasantly cool 72°F with little humidity inside! It quietly operates, cycles on and off, and so easy to operate. My home is 320 square feet total with 12 foot high ceilings. I would highly recommend this air conditioner for anyone looking for a casement window type unit. Oh, and it was delivered three days sooner than expected! UPDATE (Sept 1st): The unit has quit cooling as of a couple of weeks ago and displaying error code "FO" which means low refrigerant. I've had this air conditioner three months. I have contacted the manufacturer twice for help without a reply. I may end up paying someone to repair it, or just purchase another unit. I have a feeling, the manufacturer either won't respond, or by the time they do, I may be needing heat instead of cooling! UPDATED UPDATE (Sept 2nd): I contacted the seller via Amazon and they responded quickly with a phone number to call. I was dreading calling because you so often get the run-around after being placed on hold for hours, but that wasn't the case with this manufacturer. I was on hold maybe two minutes, then a veey polite and helpful rep answered, I told them about the issue and immediately she was processing a full replacement unit for free! Couldn't be more impressed with this company honoring their warranty without any hassle! Looking forward to receiving the new air conditioner in the next few days! ... show more

  • Works well. Window plug is as useless as all the other brands.
Style: 8,000 BTUs
Look, if you need a window A/C for a sideways sliding window, you know your choices are very limited. And to be fair they are all about the same. I own a couple different brands. This one has a good remote. The "I Feel" feature really doesn't matter for this size because it is for a smaller room. The sleep feature is essential. Like all similar brands, the window plug is awful. You need to buy a roll of duct tape in whatever color or pattern makes you happy. And no matter how well you install it, it will look trashy. Hopefully you have vertical blinds to cover the bit on top. Most windows are about 6 inches taller than the window plug provided. So we had to add another piece of wood to the plug which looks awful. But you need it. If you have a sliding window, it is in a track, so you need a scrap of wood the same height as the track to sit on the windowsill so the unit doesn't crush your track. And remember to fill the track with the larger foam strip (provided) or there will be a giant gap. You need to also tape where the side frames meet the sides, and where the plug meets the top of the unit and all around the plug. I am including a photo of the unit partially taped, where you can see light shining through the holes. ... show more

  • Sturdy, reliable, and relatively quiet
Style: 8,000 BTUs
I love this unit. It was a little harder to install than a double-hung window unit, but all casement and slider air conditioners are going to be, it's just the nature of the beast. After I designed, created, and installed the base to protect my window frame and take the weight of the air conditioner (a table saw is indispensable for this task), the rest of the installation was a snap! I bought mine "Used, like new", and what I got looked like it had taken a swan dive out of someone's window, but miraculously the unit still functions without any qualms. I had to design some more supports because the seller didn't include any of the installation hardware that they promised in the listing, but I like this bulletproof beauty so much that I decided to return the s***kicked one and buy a replacement direct from the manufacturer. Honestly with free shipping from the manufacturer, you don't really save much buying one of these used. The seller has pretty decent ratings, so this might have been a fluke, but getting one like this and having to go through the process of designing temporary supports and lugging it to the post office to return it has wasted more of my time than I saved in the price difference. Edit: Year two of perfectly reliable service. I could not be happier with my Koldfront AC unit. :) ... show more

  • A little banged up (probably abused by shippers) but working excellently
Style: 8,000 BTUs
This AC unit arrived kind of banged up. I would have returned it just for that, because the dented portion can be seen from the front of the house and doesn't look great, but honestly I expected this. Shippers are terrible. They always have employees who throw, kick, and abuse boxes. However, I didn't want to go through the returns hassle, and I need the AC unit to be installed ASAP. We installed it ourselves and I would not call it easy. The instructions are TERRIBLE. I'm a reasonably intelligent person, but trying to understand their instructions was a scholarly feat. We did get it installed in the length-wise, vertical style window, but the panel they sent to cover the open window above the unit was too short, so we had to cut our own piece of cardboard, and duct tape it to the window frame above the coverage panel. Not the most secure scenario, but the AC works great. We've had no problems with it and it really cools the room down FAST. It's a pretty small bedroom, set up as an office, and on Energysaver mode at 76 degrees, it keeps the room nice and cool. The remote control works flawlessly. So far, we're very happy with the unit. ... show more

  • Bought used, but disappointed
Style: 8,000 BTUs
I recently opted to upgrade my A/C for my room and thought this would be a weighty competitor. Unfortunately, I’ve come to find the following: • weird smell • randomly refuses to cool • dented case (the used part I’m assuming) • somewhat more complicated to install than necessary • outdated tech These are my personal opinions of course, but having used other similar models and finding significantly more pleasing options for more reasonable prices, I would have hoped for more. ... show more
