I really like this e-reader. E-ink is the way to go in my opinion - in direct sun it's like reading from paper, and the device has a good backlight (just be sure you don't accidentally crank it down to 0% in the dark). Having access to my local library via Overdrive is the bees knees. The only thing keeping me from giving this 5 stars is the size - it's just a tiny bit smaller than I'd like, and the format is a bit awkward. Apparently you can upgrade this to a 128 GB storage card so ya do that. Clone the existing card with dd to a file, then copy the file to a new card then resize the partition to GParted to fill out the full size. Can download just about any ePub book from the library or libgen and it pretty much works. All around good stuff. ... show more

    • Library Connection Does Not Work
I purchased the Kobo rather than a Kindle specifically because the Kobo allegedly made borrowing e-books from libraries easier since the Kobo has the Overdrive app built in. Unfortunately this simply didn't work on our Kobo. After setting up and then attempting to connect our library, the Kobo got stuck in a "connecting" status for hours. I did a factory reset on the Kobo and tried again three times. I also followed their instructions for using Adobe Digital Edition and downloading .acsm / .epub files from the library. Despite it being many steps, I was willing to go this route. Unfortunately again, the Kobo failed on this approach too. After getting one e-book to successfully download from our library and open on the Kobo, on the 2nd book, the Kobo insisted it was not authorized for DRM and required me to re-authorize. I went round and round with this routine 4 times, stymied multiple times by the same issue. My advice is to not bother using your Kobo with the library. It is an awful experience. ... show more

Beautiful product, great screen and it works fantastically. However, I have had to charge this device daily even though I really only read an hour or two a day. I was told the battery would last for weeks but it’s not the case for this refurbished device.

Bought this to use with Overdrive/Libby with various libraries. Great idea but poorly done due to licensing. For example, one series of books my daughter enjoys was not available through Libby (as in none of the books) with this device, but was available on the Libby app for our ipad. Otherwise it was great and would recommend if you can get it to work with the content you want to read. ... show more
