  • Blade oil
Not much to dislike about this product. I use this for protecting my knives and seems like it works. I haven't used the product long enough to know for sure the quality, but im hopeful.

  • The bottle can't be reclosed.
Am I missing something here? It's oil, and it probably works fine. But you cannot reseal the bottle. There's a foil seal over the bottle opening which you need to remove, and then replace the nozzle..after that.... well, I stuck some putty over the nozzle hole. Come on, man.

  • Always keep a bottle of this with my sharpening kit!
This stuff is great, one of those things you never knew you needed until you actually got your hands on some to put to use. When it comes to outdoor and pocket knives a lot of mine are carbon steel which is prone to rust as we all know. This is a great protectant to put on your carbon steel blades and works as a nice lubricant when using a stone on any blade. Any time I go to sharpen my knife I put a little on the blade before running it across the stone. Then when I'm done with my sharpening routine I rub a little on the blade to keep it clean. It's not only a cleaner and lubricant though it also does well as a preventative to keep the blade from rusting in the first place. For the price this stuff does so much that there's no reason not to have some in your kit, so stop reading this and order yourself a bottle right now! ... show more

  • Not a big fan
I think I would rather use Ballistol or WD 40. This stuff works but is super thin and wear off the knife quickly.

  • An essential part of my sharpening routine
People have different activities that both satisfy and calm them. For my dad, it was fishing. Sure, it's easier to go to the store and buy a filet, but he enjoyed the time in the boat with his thoughts. Strangely, I'm sort of the same way with sharpening knives. Sure, it's easier to use an automatic sharpener, but I enjoy the peace (and peace of mind) in using a stone and doing it slowly and carefully. A good oil makes that process even better, and a few drops of this does a great job. It's a large enough bottle that it will last a long time, and it makes the process a bit smoother, if you'll pardon the pun. Very satisfied. ... show more

  • Valse oil seems to work
Time will tell, but this seems to work well. It goes on easily enough and has a good feel as far as viscosity. We have a nice knife set for the kitchen and I wanted to protect them with this treatment. It seems to work.
