  • Almost 2 years and running great in WI heats and cools to zero degree temperatures
Size: 18,000 BTU - 208/230V
I have nothing but great things to say about this mini-split. I installed it all myself with the exception of getting a professional to shorten the lines and commission the system per the warranty agreement. I did buy an extended warranty, but so far it is running great. It is heating and cooling a space of about 400 square feet (converted insulated garage) into a photo studio. I have included several of my install photos that show it is really not hard at all to install. I had a buddy run the wiring from the garage load center panel to a box just outside the wall. I would recommend this product as it works great even in zero degree temperatures! It is super efficient and quiet as can be, you do not even know it is running. It has a remote that performs many functions. I recommend and would buy again for any home heating and cooling needs. It cools great, real cold if you need it. I was not paid anything for this review and I waited almost a couple of years to write it so I could share my true story. ... show more

I know have 2 of their unit at my home, one is still working now for 16 years. New one is for sunroom. It is super quiet and ice cold. Have installed others for pool houses, attics etc. updates.. unit performs perfectly. wiring is simple, but 1st timers are confused.. whatever color/number inside unit is, use same for outside unit.. this is a top of the line system. ... show more

  • Second Purchase -Highly recommended.
Size: 18,000 BTU - 208/230V
This is my second Klimaire. The first one which had been in service almost 10 yrs., was cosmetically damaged by hail. Insurance payment covered replacement completely. The unit is installed in my garage which is fully insulated. The old unit was looking a little ragged after 10 years, but was working perfectly. It survived 10 Texas summers/winters, including snowpocalyse '21. My son in law plans to install in in his garage. The only issue I ever had with the unit was a small refrigerant leak. (If your indoor coil freezes up, your refrigerant is low.) I used a line sealant on the joints this time. My garage is 650 s.f. and this unit kept things very comfortable for party mode. We have had dinners with 20-30 people with everyone comfortable, even in summer. As I said, garage is fully insulated and energy use is minimal, summer and winter. Installation is straight forward, if you know what you are doing. If you are complaining about installation instructions, you probably should just pay to have someone make all the connections for you after you have indoor and outdoor unit placed. The hardest thing this time was making the connections on the line set. The new lines are a very soft copper and with joints sealant it is easy to overtighten. The old lines were a much harder copper that had to be tightened snugly. I had to reflare a couple of connections. It seems the overall quality of the new unit is better than the old one. We are moving in a few weeks so I won't know if that holds up. I plan to install a 12K unit in my new place which has a smaller garage. It will be a Klimaire. ... show more

  • Wow! - runs great, quiet, installed it myself.
Size: 12,000 BTU - 115V
Runs great and is quiet. So far have only used for heating and while we have it in the living room of a small house (heating about 550 sq feet) with Kitchen, living room, and dining room; it is heating the upstairs as well so we actually are getting enough heat for a 12,000 sq foot house. Having said that, the temp outside hasn't gotten much below 32 degrees yet. It is easy to keep the heat over 85 if you want. (We tested it) Install was pretty easy if you take your time. We installed it in a 100 year old home to avoid the cost of installing a traditional heat pump and running ducts. You'll need a 2.5" hole saw for your drill and a stud finder, the rest are basic tools, wrenches and screwdrivers. I took one star off for the instructions which were not very good and kept me guessing or second-guessing. Look at some youtube videos. That helped. If you don't have a professional do the final part, you will need to either rent or buy a vacuum pump and gauges to evacuate the lines/testing for leaks before letting the Freon (supplied) into the system. I borrowed the vacuum pump from the AutoZone tool loaner program. Actually it was pretty easy if you don't overthink it. Most folks will want a professional to do the Freon part which only took about 30 minutes (most of that was waiting to ensure no leaks. Using a Professional is probably the smart way to go since if you have a leak and lose the Freon, you'll be calling them anyway. So.. the insurance is worth a service call for a few minutes of time. I didn't do that but then again, I'm pretty handy and am more adventurous than most. I also did my own electrical work. My son in law is a master electrician and I felt confident that I could use him if I got into trouble. I didn't (btw make sure you buy/install a outside cutoff switch panel (required by most code). My install time was about 8 hours (because I second guessed myself a lot plus I bought and installed a PVC Decorative Line Cover Kit for $49 which made the whole installation look professional. That part took most of the time. Also, the 100 year old home fought back a bit (plaster and lath walls and irregular placing of studs). A AC professional would probably charge you for 4 hours for two people so you could probably be charged almost as much as the unit itself in installation costs. Plus they'd also want you to have the electrical already done. If you're handy with tools, the installation wasn't hard. Again, look at some youtube videos. Either way, it seems like a good unit. I especially like that it is quiet both inside and outside the house. Oh, in case you're wondering, I did have my electrical work checked out by the son in law anyway. I hope this review helps anyone looking at this product and/or installation. ... show more
