Overall this is a great product for the sale price at which I obtained it but a few tips will save you from having to redo your build multiple times to get the best results and avoid costly errors like breaking and cracking the connection points. Read to the end for ideas about how to tweak the design for the best results. First, let’s avoid build errors. The horizontal rods are comprised of two shorter rods that connect with a metal button into an empty hole. Then the long rod you just made gets put inside the fabric-like pieces that serve as shelves. Be sure that when you insert the long rod into the fabric that the protruding button is facing the shelf and not the edge. If you do not do this, your finished product will have shelves that have unsightly bulges where the button pokes out visibly. Because of how the rods are inserted into the sides of the shelving, this is not a simple matter of rotating the rods so the button faces the other way. Instead, it is necessary to dismantle pieces of the project in order to twist the rod and then put the project back together again. Avoid this timely and frustrating mistake by orienting the buttons toward the shelf. Next, let’s avoid breaking the project. Be certain to use the included mallet to finish the connections of the rod to the side pieces rather than brute strength. It is not obvious until you have cracked and broken the side pieces but brute strength is too strong and you are likely to damage the plastic connection points. If you use the included mallet, the force used will be weaker and less likely to damage the plastic connection points. Avoid this mistake and the worry that you have not wasted your money with nothing to show for it by using the mallet. If you did decide to use brute strength and have cracked or even broken pieces off of the connection points, those shelves may still be usable. Simply dismantle that level and place it at the top of the shelving unit so that it has to withstand the least amount of weight. I broke two shelves in this manner, but they are holding up satisfactorily at the top of the shelving system where I have lighter objects and where they do not have the weight of the other shelves pressing down on them. Next, don’t build something unusable. Make sure to determine the height of shelf needed before building the entire structure. Otherwise, you will go to put your shoe on the shelf and discover it will not fit and you will have to dismantle the project to make the shelves accommodate taller shoes. This is very frustrating, especially if you made some of the above referenced errors that necessitated dismantling the project multiple times already. Avoid this timely and frustrating mistake by placing a few shoes on first level to determine if there is enough space is involved rods are of some have to be left out the project. Now for some fun design ideas. In order to make roomier shelves, you essentially will remove horizontal rods and the fabric shelf attached thereto. Instead of simply removing these from the structure, I recommend that you explore using the horizontal rods. As you’ll see in my pictures, I found it useful to keep some rods in the forward position and place others in the center position (side pieces already have inexplicable holes that are not called for in the project as designed but are quite useful for this purpose). Keeping the rods in place allowed for better display of certain types of shoes (i.e., high heels) and there was utility in placing the rods in the forward and middle position depending on the height of the shoe soles (e.g., I used forward position to stop roller skates from rolling off the shelf). Plus, keeping the horizontal rods provides additional stability to the project. Assuming you have made some roomier shelves and took my advice to use the horizontal rods anyway in the original project, you now have left over shelf fabric. Instead of discarding it, I recommend using it to make an accessory shelf. To do this, you will leave the fabric attached to the far horizontal rod and attach the other side to a middle located horizontal rod. This will create a shelf that has a sagging center that can serve to collect shoelaces, cushioned inserts, and other shoe related small items while still leaving space for shoes that are placed in front of the middle located horizontal rod. For my project I found that one such sagging shelf was sufficient. With these tips you should save time by avoiding multiple rebuilds and have ideas for ways to customize the unit to your specific needs. Customer service - 5 stars -They went above and beyond to help me out and their contact info is right on the box Shoe rack - 4 stars -It’s super light weight, not heavy duty at all. Pegs are made of very light/thin metal, the “fabric” that the shoes sit on is like a plastic tarp material and ends are plastic. -I would be nervous to stack it 9 shelves high, especially if you walk by it or around it a lot or have kids or pets. In a closet or spot where it won’t get bumped or ran into would be safer. ****fyi if you’re stacking boots, you have to pull out a shelf for every row of boots**** ... show more

I really appreciated the easy assembly and the slim line profile. This rack has done what several before have not. It gives great storage and just slides along the wall in walk-ins, giving alot with just a little space. I'm a shoe hound and this holds them all. Only down side, it is pretty light weight - my boots and booties go in another rack, which is why I knocked a star, but if you are seeking super storage from stilettos to sandals, this is a very good deal. ... show more

This is a very nice, very light, and inexpensive shoe rack that does the job well. I have on display women shoe sizes 6, 5, and big kid size 4.5; And each row can hold 4 pairs of shoes. The design allows a bit of room for some ingenuity to fit what you need so I was able to create a higher row for boots that I need to place on there as well. The sturdiness is good as long as small children don't try to be Spiderman on it. Leaving it alone, it will never tip over. Overall, this was a great purchase. I purchased this rack because I needed a rack that had enough space between each shelf for high heels. This rack did not disappoint. I was able to fit all my high heels in it. Even my giant platform mules. See photo. The specs are correctly described. You can fit between 4-5 pairs of shoes in each shelf. It arrived same day. Super easy to assemble. Note: this would be great in a closet where it is tucked away but I wouldn't use it as a display case where guest can see it because it is cheap looking. I never realized how many pairs of shoes I had. I needed a shoe rack, and this fit the bill perfectly. It was super easy to assemble. Some of the shelves looked a bit distorted when I put them together, but they straightened out when the whole thing was assembled. I was able to insert most pieces by hand, but I did use the mallet provided to make sure everything was sturdy. So now I have a place to keep all my shoes.
