The cabinet is better than I thought. Even when lifting the box, it was heavier than I expected, being so inexpensive. The instructions booklet is easy to follow (I have a lot of IKEA experience, and this is better than their instructions, which isn't saying much). I liked that they state how many spares they pack for each screw, so you know you are not missing any. The only issue, really, was on Step 7 - when you screw the metal base into the base of the cabinet, they are longer than they should, so they pierce to the other side of the wood board. Since that is the bottom of the inside of the cabinet, it will never show, but it it a small flaw nonetheless. If your shoes are too big they will not fit easily... these pictured are all size 9. Overall, I recommend, with these caveats. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. We got this to put in our entryway since our house lacks a mudroom and/or a clear spot for shoes and coats. Our intention was to use this in addition to our small shoe closet, and that is what we are doing. We keep the adult shoes in the closet and our kids use this. So, while this could hold adult shoes, we don’t use it for that, so I can’t speak to how well this accommodates them or how many pairs of adult shoes would fit. With that, it is easy for our 5 yo and 9 yo to both retrieve their shoes as well as to put them away, which is nice. We did not anchor this to the wall because it felt sturdy, but we intentionally have my son’s larger shoes on the bottom to prevent this from becoming top heavy, As far as assembly, my husband did it easily and in a reasonably quick about of time. He said it was pretty easy. It seems durable, and the doors open and close extremely smoothly. They stay in place when opened and shut easily without a natural tendency to slam themselves shut. The handled are not cheap or flimsy, either, and suggest they will stay in tact and functional. As far as the appearance, quality, and overall aesthetics, it is actually much nicer than we had expected it to be (based on some nightstands we had purchased from Amazon and ultimately returned). The finish is nice, coloring is even, no scratches or scuffs, and the fact that there is a shelf on top to display photos or seasonable decor is a bonus. While my motivation for purchasing this was to easily store our shoes in a better way and NOT to “hide” the shoes, the fact that this just looks like a nice piece of furniture and not simply a shoe rack is what bumps this up from good to great for me. It truly adds both class and functionality to my previously useless and lackluster hallway. ... show more

My biggest concern was my big shoes. I wear a women’s size 10 and they barely fit in the cabinet . Any bigger size would not. I have to make sure they are sitting just right in order to close it. I love the cabinet and the quality is good. Looks nice in my bedroom. Just note, there is no back on the cabinet so it must sit against the wall. This is a beautiful piece of furniture. It's nice and sturdy. Stability is nice. It says to mount it to the wall but I did not. The back is open with just 3 pieces of wood planks top, bottom and middle horizontally. I wish it was a closed off back. It holds 3 shoes per row so 24 in all. Largers shoes gets smashed or just don't fit. So I had to put them under the cabinet. I also wish it was a soft close when opening the doors. It is metal banging on metal. It's very heavy. Legs are not made for dragging across the floor so put it together where you want it to be. Ever thing aligns well including the doors. One person can put this together until you get to the drawers. You'll need someone to hold them while you insert screws. The holes for the screws were not fully drilled. If using a screwdriver it will be very hard to force the screws in. I pulled out the handy electric screwdriver which was a lifesaver!! Use an electric drill. It'll go faster and your hands will thank you. It's also quite tall. Instructions were easy to understand. No missing parts. The shelves just need to have more room so shoes don't get squashed. ... show more
