  • Quite a nice kitchen scale
Most scales are simple, and there's a very good reason for that. When we are cooking, weighing and measuring, we surely don't want to have a complicated device to work through in order to "assist" us. Somehow, this device manages to be just as simple as most, and yet offer quite an upgraded experience. First, the scale is very good. Solid, consistent, and indeed: easy to use. Second, the bowl, optional of course, is nevertheless a top quality steel bowl. That alone I already appreciate. This will be an indication of the quality of the device through and through. While the bowl is small, it is imminently useful for mixing small quantities, and fine tuning weight as you do so. Think bread dough as just one such instance where such an item and process is useful. Surely, there are many more, and when all is said and done, the bowl is really just bonus. The scale works perfectly without it, of course. The actual machine is very easy to use, and has a feature I am both impressed by and greatly appreciative of. It will tell you the temperature of the room. Again, to any bread makers out there, this can be so valuable. That temp affecting rise will just be that extra bit of data that can make the whole process better and more accurate and complete. Lastly, and this is perhaps something I will use little, yet others might find it more useful, and that is a wee timer built in. Nothing overly special, yet it is just another asset and tool and feature that can be a blessing to your kitchen endeavors. Pro tip, the scale has a 2 minute auto-off feature built in, which I can appreciate for battery saving, yet always find frustrating, as it ruins my tares all too often. Set your timer for say, 30 minutes. Not because you need the timer, but to keep the scale from timing out your settings. There may be more to it, but this is what I have discovered so far. Top tier small kitchen scale for me. Oh, I forgot. It looks nice! The angle of viewing is also so much better than a flat, vertical readout which can so often be obscured by overhanging bowls. Another win! Definitely recommend this item. One of the best I've come across. ... show more

  • Been Wanting A Kitchen Scale For Some Time
Normally I'm the type of cook, that does everything by eye. Sometimes it works out quite well, sometimes it doesn't at all. (Especially when doing a new recipe, or one I haven't done in a long time. Then my results can be very disappointing.) So while I won't be using this scale a lot, it will come in handy. Even though I'm US born and raised, and now back in the US, I lived for 30 years in Europe. Therefore, much of my recipes are in metric, while some in US, with most all my measuring tools being in US. So up to now, I'm (while cooking) using my laptop to convert metric to lbs. Now, I don't need to do so. I've always enjoyed cooking, and tasting new foods and recipes. I collect these recipes, most via online, from all over the world. Being retired, I now can invest time in this hobby. And while later, I can adapt recipes more to my taste, first time I have to stick exactly with the recipe. Many of these dishes I've never tried before... even once. So, I need lots of measuring tools. (Thanks to Amazon Vine, about half of my apartment, has grown to be somehow kitchen or pantry related.) I live alone, but gave up trying to buy small portions long time ago. For example: hamburger I buy in 5lbs to 10lbs units, then portion out to 1lbs... and freeze. It's a lot cheaper. (Up to now, this has all been by eye. That stops with this scale.) Then again, most all my recipes are for 4 to 6 people. It's far more difficult and time consuming to cook for one. Cook, portion out, and freeze for later. (While not absolutely needed, here a scale is also a help.) So to conclude, you can't have a good kitchen, without a good kitchen scale. It's one of those "must have" tools. While I'm sure there are better, more professional scales out there, this one fits "my needs" quite well. (I won't be baking 10 loafs of bread. At most it'll be one. I won't be doing 20lbs of egg noodles, it'll be 1 or 2lbs... and so on.) Just, I do find it odd that it still uses batteries, not having its own rechargeable. Guess that's something for the future... ... show more

  • GRAM PRES Digital Food Scale with Stainless Steel Bowl
This is a digital food scale with a stainless steel bowl. The scale can display in oz, ml or g. It will display lb when in oz. unit and kg when in g unit. There’s a temperature display in the top right corner. It tells the temperature of the room, not the temperature of what you’re measuring. It was set to Celsius and I got it to display Fahrenheit but I don’t know how I changed the setting. There’s a countdown timer in the top left of the display. The Tare feature is for deducting the weight of things. I press Z/T to deduct the weight of the empty bowl so I get an accurate weight of the food in the bowl. After turning on Tare I could not turn it off until I removed the bowl and pressed Z/T. The display has a backlight and a good one too. This is powered with 2 AAA batteries which are included. I think it’s a great stainless steel bowl that I will put to good use. You do not have to use the bowl to weigh, you could put a plate on the base and then deduct the weight of the plate. I have a few scales but none with a bowl. To save storage space you can put the scale base upside down in the stainless steel bowl. My Daughter wants to weigh during food prep so now I have a dedicated food scale and don’t have to use my postage scale. This is a good scale. 7-10-23 ... show more
