  • Speak, simple, efficient…
Love the sleek design, easy to use, and small enough to not take up a lot of counter space. The various measurement types are very helpful including liquids. Easy to keep clean. This was $$ well spent.

  • Great scale.
The scale is easy to use and simple to connect to a smartphone. Changing weight measurement is also simple to do.

  • Looks and works great, but...
Great looking scale, nice size and works great. I stubbornly wanted the one displayed all the information in the screen. I thought I would use the screen more than just getting the weight of things. I see that the big screen is unnecessary since the app that I use already provides all the info that I need. ... show more

  • Worthwhile Purchase But Needs Enhancements to Reach Full Potential
I bought this scale in order to get better control of tracking nutritional information, specifically carbohydrates. The product was packaged well in environmentally friendly cardboard specifically designed to protect the product without producing excessive waste. The scale is slim, sleek and shiny. The display on the scale is backlight and a bit difficult to read; it could use brighter backlighting or LEDs. The controls are minimal: on/off/tare and switching between measurement units. The iOS app: There are several apps from the company in the App Store, so it is important to use the QR Code in the package to find the correct app OR visually match the app icon with those in the store. Once installed, the app quickly finds and attaches to the scale via Bluetooth. The app requires the user to create an account for storing entries. The app can be installed on multiple devices and each device can use a single account or separate accounts. When multiple devices are linked to a single account, entries that are tracked sync between devices via the Internet. Sadly, the iOS app is not a universal app. Although it runs on the iPad (which is a device many will use in their kitchen), it just appears in iPhone format. It does not support landscape mode, and it does not support rotation. This is a problem when using an iPad, because most ipad stands work best in landscape mode; and in portrait mode, to keep the iPad plugged in, the bottom of the iPad needs to be placed at the top. The app supports the standard USDA database of foods and seems to include some product entries. Although barcode scanning is supported, so far I haven't scanned a code which returned info on the product; I imagine the database will be populated over time. When a product isn't in the database, the user can add the food and its serving size and nutrition. Once added, the app will return accurate nutritional information for any size serving of the food. To track a food, the user locates the food in the database, optionally places a container on the scale and uses the tare feature to zero out the weight of the container, adds the food, optionally selects the meal, touches a "checkmark," then finally touches a "checkmark" to track the food. It is important to remember to click the "checkmarks" or the food serving doesn't get tracked! It is possible to track a food without the scale, but it is not an intuitive procedure. The user must select the (disconnected) scale, searches for the food, touches an arrow on the display to override the weight, enters the grams, then touches the "checkmark" to track the food. The app totals the day's nutritional consumption on a dashboard in the diary, but does not show nutritional totals for each meal; if meal totals are needed, the user must view the detail of each food and add the desired nutrient total in their head. There doesn't appear to be a way to choose which nutrient totals are displayed on the dashboard; but details of all tracked nutrients are available on a separate screen. A feature that, to me, is obviously missing is the ability to use the scale and app to calculate the nutrition for recipes. It seems like a pretty easy feature to add to the app: create a recipe entry, weight and add all fo the ingredients, specify a recipe title, specify the number of servings, and show the nutritional totals for the recipe and per serving. I really hope to see that feature added in the future. Another missing feature is the ability to export the diary. There is no apparent way to access a web site with the tracked data, and there should be at least an option to export and mail the diary as a tab-delimited or csv text file, or copy it in tab-delimted format to the iPhoone/iPad clipboard. Overall impression: This is a worthwhile device, a great hardware/software combination. What it does, it does well. But the software seems to be in its infancy, and the company has a great opportunity to greatly enhance the software to make it much more useful in the kitchen. Here are enhancements that need to be made to the iOS app: * Make the app universal with true support for iPads, and on the iPad use the larger screen to advantage. * Make the nutrients displayed on the diary's "today" dashboard customizable to those nutrients the user needs to track. * Add customizable dashboard totals by meal so users don't have to mentally add them up manually. * Add the ability to create, save, calculate, and track recipes. * Make tracking foods manually a less cryptic procedure. * Add diary export capability. * Make diary accessible via account log-in to a web site. Would I recommend this product: Yes. If you have a need or desire to track your food intake more precisely, this device will do that for you. What it does, it does well. It is relatively easy to learn and start using, and easily fits into the preparation and serving of a meal. I am hopeful that the apps will be enhanced to add features to make the produce easier to use and even more valuable. The company has a golden opportunity here to set the gold standard for connected food scales and become the major player in the field. ... show more

  • Brillant !
I love the ease of the app and all the information I get from my foods. The database and scanning QR code for products work perfectly. I highly recommend this scale if you are looking for an accurate and efficient way to track your macros.

  • I Was Hesitant with This Brand, But Now I'm a Fan!
I have never heard of this brand before, and to be fair they have a terribly cringe name that sounds cheap. I was super hesitant to purchase anything from them, but I'm absolutely mind-blown with the quality of this scale. It's metal, it's accurate, it's incredibly easy to use, it's fast, and it syncs with a killer app -> VeSync! Everyday I record my food with this scale to keep track of my calorie intake and also macros, alongside with other nutrition values such as vitamins minerals etc. As soon as you open the VeSync app on your phone, it INSTANTLY connects to it. I then just scan barcodes of food/drinks, or choose from the previously added items. You can also enter food manually if it wasn't found in its MASSIVE database. I was so impressed with this scale, I actually went ahead and purchased their Body Scale as well, and ditched my Withings scale. Now everything is in a unified app, and the app syncs with Apple Health which is wonderful. All very seamless, kudos to all the UX designers. My only wish as an upgrade would be making it more sensitive (like sub-gram sensitive), as it doesn't detect any changes until the difference is 1 grams, making it a tad bit annoying with supplements like Creatine etc. Overall I'm super happy with this purchase, it made tracking food actually fun, and it has became the number one item in my kitchen. I hope it lasts a very long time. Good work Etekcity! ( I hope you change that cringy name one day :D ) ... show more
