Used to heat garage area, backup for other heaters. Has a remote, the unit functioned at receiving inspection. Remote functioned. Only plugged it in a few minutes to test it, then reboxed for storage. Manual says reflector needs to be replaced every two years but does not supply a source, and instructions for disassembly are at best sketchy. It can only be repaired by service technician but does not define who or where that technician is or where to reach him or what the reflector part no. is. Can't confirm long term performance or its weather sturdiness yet. Won't install it for a while. I have an earlier version I've used last winter and it is working this winter. That one had a thermostat control, no remote, and the power switch is failing. No place to get a replacement switch. If anyone knows, put a link in your review. The two units look Identical other than the T-stat feature. This one has no T-Stat, a better power switch, 3 power settings, and a timer, and a remote. I would like one that comes on when the temperature is too low, and shuts off when temperature is too high. A Temperature controlled outlet might handle it by turning on 120VAC when the temperature drops, but I think the heater won't power up without pressing a button or using the remote. I think I need a really simple one that comes on with a mechanical switch in the on position, and heats to a T-Stat setting for outside temp. adjustable 68 deg F and below. ... show more

When I purchased this fairly inexpensive Kismile patio heater, I also purchased the more expensive Trustech 1500w patio heater. I needed two but because I didn't know much about patio heaters, I decided to buy two different brands. I know it's ridiculous but I'd expected the more expensive unit to be a bit better quality, so I'd planned on using that one in the room we use the most - I was definitely wrong. This Kismile heater puts out an amazing amout of heat! It's quiet, heats up in a matter of seconds and can be set at 500W 700W or 1500W. The remote works from across the room, (approx 50 feet), and there is a timer you can set to go off anywhere from 1 to 12 hours. This heater is also larger, (wider and longer), than the Trustech and both came with identical mounting brackets. Installation is simple, once you figure out how to assemble them. I say this because unfortunately both heaters came with virtually useless assembly instructions With the cost of fuel oil I'm using the furnace as little as possible. I've had the Kismile heater running continuously on low for about 4 weeks now with no issues. I'm in upstate NY and it gets cold but my furnace has only kicked on a few times. The Trustech 1500W has only two settings: High and low but it also has a 12 hour timer. After using it a few times I noticed it was louder on low, which I thought was odd. I suppose that didn't matter because now it makes the same annoying noise at either setting. To get the remote to work you have to hold it so close to the unit you may as well just use the switch on the front. Because the unit is smaller, it doesn't feel like it puts out as much heat as the Kismile. I returned the Trustech and plan to purchase another Kismile when it comes back in stock. ... show more

So far so good. Have it in my two car garage for those real cold nights and it takes the edge off. If the garage is warmer and I get it going before the night gets real cold, it'll maintain through the night.

Mounting is not sturdy at all. Remote does not work after following instructions. Heat output is not what expected.

I am doing a frame-off restoration of a Jeep. The 12' x 20' workshop is 2 x 4 studs with R-13 batt and 3/4" foamboard. This heater keeps it manageable in low double digit temps. I don't need it toasty, but warm enough to cure seam sealers and adhesives and this heater does that easily. There is only so much energy available from a 110V circuit, so yes a 220V or propane/natural gas heater would work better/faster it would be more expensive to purchase, install and operate. With this I don't have to monitor carbon monoxide levels so closely. I am happy with the performance of this heater and now am keen to see how long it lasts. ... show more

    • M.I.A. Mounting screws!
I already have one of these heaters and it works well. The issue with this purchase is that the mounting screws weren't with the product, nor the remote. Seeing how all of the remotes are universal it's OK not to have another one lying around. Biggest issue is where are my bolts/screws!

The heater does a great job of making our screened-in porch more like a 3-season porch. It covers a good area, but doesn't make anything too hot. We sat right under it and didn't feel like we were in an oven.

This unit is okay. The unit has never worked using the timer function either manually or by remote. Also, the remote would never turn the unit on or off. The only thing the remote did before it quit working (within a week) was change the temperature. Mostly disappointed with the timer function and the on/off feature not working by remote. ... show more
