  • Effectively Heats 10x14 Basement Bedroom
Size: 4' / 1000W / 120V Color: Bright White
I purchased this to heat a basement bedroom for one of my kids and, so far, it has done an excellent job of heating the space. The design of the product protects the heating mechanism from the clothes and other debris my kid deposits on her floor, so I don't have worries like I did with many space heaters. I put in a double-pole thermostat, so we have some control over how warm it gets and can turn it off when she's gone during the day. I will say the directions that came with the heater said to connect the double-pole wires to the, "white and black wire" in the heater, but all the wires in the heater are black, at least on the model I received. However, the diagram in the directions was clear enough that it was obvious which wires should be cut and connected to the thermostat wires, so no real problem there. I did have to drill a hole in the back of the heater so I could screw it into a wall stud, but that was because of where I had to mount it - no fault in the design of the heater itself, and it wasn't difficult to drill the hole. The unit comes with perforations along the back of the heater that worked for the other screws, which is a nice feature so you don't have to drill holes for most mounting situations. The unit did smoke and smell, as the directions from the manufacturer stated it would, for about the first 30-45 minutes it ran. Since then there has been no smell and it runs silently - cannot hear it at all. It does an excellent job of heating the 10x14 basement room, which gets pretty chilly during our winter months. Overall, the install was simple, it works for the size room we have it mounted in and the design and quality seem outstanding. Will update if any problems arise as I've only had it in and running for about a week, but very happy with it so far. ... show more

  • Installed and working fine
Size: 6' / 1500W / 120V Color: Bright White
I had this installed by my electrician for a 350-sqft room and it does the job. I was a little concerned about some negative reviews that suggested the heater catches fire. I'm not sure if they just installed it wrong or didn't know what they were doing, but my unit works great.

  • Not easiest install for first timer but works great.
Size: 6' / 1500-1125W / 277-240V Color: Bright White
Works great, good value, came damaged in box but didn’t install right away so didn’t notice until too late to return. Was able to get it nearly flush on wall and still works great. Took me a bit to figure out how to screw to wall and that was a little tricky, but was my first time installing. Wiring was the easiest part. Definitely check your heater for damage upon arrival! ... show more

Size: 8' / 2000-1500W / 240-208V Color: Bright White
I did just about everything wrong in my purchase and installation of this heater so let me just pass along some hard earned wisdom. 1) The heater does not come with a thermostat and it DOES NOT WORK without a thermostat. So unless you have a spare thermostat just lying around, get the t-stat with the heater. 2) So when I discover that I need a t-stat I buy the cheap, Honeywell unit that other purchasers have favored. Mistake. The work arounds needed to get the Honeywell thermostat to work with the King Heater just are not worth the trouble. Plus, if you have the big 240V heater, the Honeywell unit just does not seem readily equipped to handle the load. Because of the complexity of the wiring tasks, and my own electrical limitations, I blew the breaker on this thermostat. Did not discover this until my electrician friend spent a couple of hours trying to get the install to work. Finally, took apart the thermostat and saw the break. 3) Order the King OEM thermostat for the heater. Hook up is cake even for a klutz like me. After all this the heater just puts out an ok amount of heat. We've had it cranked to the limit the last couple of days (its been near freezing in South Texas, very rare for us) and its not as toasty in the room as we would like. Should be ok, though, once more seasonable temps return. My big take away from all this is that the OEM should just package the heater and thermostat together. Radiant heat works better as an analog dial (crank higher for more heat, dial down for less) than a temperature regulated unit anyway. Just my two cents. ... show more

Can I please return these? I haven’t even taken them out of the box. They are perfect. I meant to order 240v. I misplaced them in my closet and now would really appreciate the ability to return.

We replaced a bathroom heater. Turned on 3 times only at 60 to 65 degrees on thermostat. Went to bathroom to wash hands. Walked out and flames came out of heater, on my legs, turned off thermostat and grab baking soda to put out flames. • Puts out tons of heat
Size: 8' / 2000-1500W / 240-208V Color: Bright White
This has to be wired by an electrician. It is more efficient than a plug-in heater because it is a direct 220v current. Base board electric heat is the cheapest way to heat a house (in terms of up-front cost not necessarily efficiency although they are decent with that too), and the larger the unit the more efficient it is at dispersing heat. This is 8 feet long, which is a very substantial unit. It would be perfect in a living room, or large kitchen, it is much too large for a bedroom or bathroom. Make sure there is room on your service panel for an additional breaker, because an upgrade to a larger amperage box kicks the cost up substantially. Hope that helps you pick out a unit that fits your needs. ... show more
