Description

The Kidde Smart Smoke Detector, WiFi, Alexa Compatible Device, Hardwired with Battery Backup, Voice & App Alerts, model P4010ACS-WF, uses photoelectric sensor technology to detect visible fire particles, associated with smoldering fires, and alerts you by sounding an 85-decibel alarm with voice alert announcing "Fire! Fire!". The Kidde smart hardwired smoke alarm connects to your home's wiring using standard 120V AC power voltage and provides battery backup in the event of a power failure. The lithium battery backup lasts the 10-year life of the alarm, so you'll have the benefit of never having to replace a battery. Update-to-date, real-time notifications are provided through the Kidde app, so your family & friends - even the pet sitter - can monitor your home's air quality & received alerts to smoke presence, high humidity levels that can lead to mold, unexpected high or low temperatures, or Total Volatile Organic Compounds (TVOCs). Setup is easy: simply download the Kidde app and scan the QR code at the back of the smoke alarm. You can also use voice commands to check the connection & status of carbon monoxide or air quality by pairing it with your Amazon Alexa, Google Home, and select iPhone & Android smart devices. The LED ring-light indicator alerts you to the unit's operational status: red = a smoke or fire hazard, amber = operating error, and green = normal operation. The Test-Hush button silences temporary nuisance alarms, tests if the unit is operating properly, and silences a low battery or end-of-life chirp (up to 24 hours at a time for a maximum of 7 days). Install a smoke detector on each level of your home and inside and outside each bedroom. The Kidde smoke detector is capable of hardwired interconnection to other select Kidde alarms for whole-home activation – when one alarm sounds, they all do. UL Certified with a 10-year limited warranty (not a battery performance claim).

  • Trusted quality easy to install
I had been searching for a 2-wire WiFi compatible smoke detector / carbon monoxide / air quality alarms for ages and ages and was pleased to have finally found this device from a trusted name like KIDDE. Installation was a breeze when replacing an existing older 2-wire model. Twist and remove old device, unplug, remove mount (2 screws), install phone app, scan qr on back of new device, install new mount (2 screws), pull device battery tab, plug-in, twist into place, connect new device to WiFi using the app. I installed a total of 6 of the standard smoke alarms, a couple of the smoke / carbon monoxide, and a couple of the air quality devices and can now worry less. These devices are LOUD. They will wake your entire neighborhood up. They come with a 10 year lithium battery! The app is simple. All-in-all I am very pleased with this purchase and would recommend to other people wanting to continue building their smart home. ... show more

  • FREQUENT FALSE ALARMS - DO NOT PURCHASE
Easy to install and app looks good. Unfortunately there are frequent FALSE ALARMS when no smoke or fire is present. Our house has another set of smoke alarms hardwired into alarm system which are adjacent to these and never false alarm. Avoid purchasing these Kidde “smart” smoke detectors - we will need to trash our investment as they keep waking us up at 3am when no emergency is present. Technical support was not at all helpful. ... show more

  • You had me at 10 year battery life
People say to me, "Dave, if you had a time machine, would you go back and make sure that events turned out differently for the Archduke in 1914?" I tell them "no, my time machine would take me back to 2003, when the electrician put this smoke detector sixteen feet overhead in a stairwell." The battery on that detector--and always that detector--invariably goes bad at 2:30 in the morning. <beep....beep....beep....beep> And then I have to get the extension ladder and climb up there and replace the battery in the accursed thing. I knew it had been many years since I had replaced the actual smoke detector, so I started looking around. And found one with a 10-year battery! I ordered five of them to replace every 8-year-old device in the house. The first four were easy to replace--just a stepstool to reach the ceiling or the top of the wall. The hardest, most time-consuming part of the job was finding the breaker that turned off the power to the smoke detectors. Once that was done the job was 90% done. I was replacing Kidde detectors with Kidde detectors. I had used an adapter on the previous detectors to allow the old 2003-ish connector to hook to the 2016 detector that I was now replacing with the 2023 model. It was difficult to connect and didn't fit snugly, so I just undid the wire nuts, took the old harness off, and put on the new wiring harness. Four minutes. These were installed while remodeling, so the wiring was in a box behind the drywall. I pulled off the mounting bracket to change that out, but no need. The new device matched the old bracket so replacement was super-easy. The mounting holes in the bracket also line up perfectly with the screw holes for mounting a faceplate to the electrical box. I loosened them so I could pull the bracket off and get to the wires more easily. Connect the harness. Reconnect the bracket. Pop the smoke detector in place. Lather. Rinse. Repeat. X5. Then hit the breaker and move to setup mode. The app makes setup super-easy. Scan the QR code (either on the back of the device or in the install instructions), name and locate the device, connect to Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, and Bob's your uncle! I sent an invite to my wife so she can put the app on her phone, too. From the app you can test devices, hush them, and get notifications if something activates. I'll be 74 when the batteries in these five devices give out. My granddaughter will be 20. She'll climb the ladder the next time! And while she's up there she can wash that window, too. (And Melanie, it's the breaker labelled "Stairwell/Ceiling lights. You're welcome.) Selah ... show more

  • Doesn’t work with older Wi-Fi units
So I can’t really review this on how well it works gave it four stars , just for the practicality of it. Will try to get back and review the unit once hooked up, but the idea of having the app for notifications is great. My big complaint is the fact that it will not connect to their older wireless Wi-Fi devices. I’m sure for moneymaking purposes, I’m sure it is doable being they are both Wi-Fi. They call it smart Wi-Fi, yet it cannot connect to their own brand of older Wi-Fi, doesn’t sound smart to me. And then of course because this is a smart device, that informs you of an alarm going off on an app, they have discontinued their wall plug-in device that was Wi-Fi and informed you of an alarm in your home on their older app, in this day and age these apps and Wi-Fi devices cannot all be incorporated into one? So now that device is obsolete garbage, for what reason, The green. No reason older units could not connect to new units. And one last note, make sure you really shop around between vendors, the price discrepancies are massive on this device. That includes buying singularly or Two pack buying two singles seems to be cheaper than buying a two pack. ... show more

  • Actually a Smart Smoke Detector that works
I have been looking for a smart smoke detector that isn't Nest for almost 2 years. I refuse to buy google products. This is the first one I have found that works. Setup was easy, I am sort of handy with electrial though. I replaced an 8 year old hard wired First Alert brand smoke detector. Undid the wire connectors and found I already had a neutral wire there. I am not sure that is normal or I just got lucky. I hooked up the new harness and walked through the instructions to download their app and add the smoke detector. So far this is just what I wanted and the price was good too. Only thing better would be if Kidde had built Home Assistant integration. But it looks like the Home Assistant community is working on that. I had previously bought a OneLink smart smoke detector. That is completely useless as a smart device. It only integrates with Apple HomeKit, which itself is a PITA to use. The onlink app is terrible. If you are comparing these 2 products and deciding, The Kidde device is far and away better. A couple days ago this smoke detector went off. I got an alert on my phone. Exactly what I wanted! It was a false alarm, someone was cooking in the kitchen and making more smoke than normal, but I was impressed. I just bought one of their water detectors to sit by my water heater. ... show more
