Description

While all smoke alarms are designed to detect smoke, different sensing technologies react differently to certain types of fires. The fist alert Sa3210 dual sensor ten year alarm makes use of both ionization and photoelectric sensors to offer the earliest possible warning-regardlesss of the type of fire. Sometimes a fire can smolder for hours before erupting into flames. Photoelectric sensing technology is more sensitive than ionization sensing technology at detecting these sorts of smoldering fires, like those caused by cigarettes burning in couches or bedding. Other fires erupt into flames quickly, like kitchen grease fires or fires fueled by paper burning in a wastebasket. Ionization sensing technology is generally more sensitive than photoelectric sensing technology at detecting these sorts of flaming fires. This alarm is powered by sealed, ten year lithium batteries to provide continuous protection for ten year without battery replacement. Single test/silence button mutes unnecessary alarms and tests function. End of life timer sounds when it's time to replace your alarm. First Alert Sa3210 meets UL217 standards and complies with legislative requirements for 10-year battery operated smoke alarms. This product includes mounting hardware and is backed by a 10 year limited .

  • Exactly as advertised
Size: 1-Pack Style: Precision Detection Pattern Name: SMI100
It works great and was super easy to install on top of the price being much more reasonable compared to in store.

  • Batteries lasted over a year

Good detector, tested outside and it worked with a real fire! Easy to swap out for older models. Just would have liked the batterie replacement accnolagment chirp was a bit more quiet.

  • Compatible with mount for older products , includes battery
Size: 3-Pack Style: Precision Detection Pattern Name: SMI100
There are 2 great things about this smoke alarm, other than the good price. 1. The battery is included. Just pull out the tab that is used to keep the contacts separated and you are all set. This saves at least $1 per alarm. 2, I could use the mounts that were already there for First Alert alarms that I had put up 10 and maybe 15 years ago. I didn’t have to use the the new ones. This was a big deal, since my ceilings are very high and while I could get on a ladder to screw the new alarm into the old mount, it would have been hard to put up a new mount. While I hoped that this would be true, I wasn’t sure it would be - I bought this one because the picture on listing looked the same as the ones I had installed, but so often companies “improve” things and make them incompatible with older products. The inside of the alarm may be different, but the mounting is not. Kudos to the company for making it really easy to install so I didn’t procrastinate . ... show more

  • We needed to replace our old Smoke Alarms. These work!
What I like about these (I bought two) is that there are only two parts, plus a pack of screws and a battery, so installation is fast and easy (ladder, Philips screwdriver, pencil). What I did not like is that when I put the battery into the compartment to test the machine before installation, neither detector worked. It turned out one of the included batteries was dead. (By the way, the recommended battery is energizer, but that is not what was included.) After good batteries were inserted, the red lights started blinking. Another minute or so later, the Tests worked on both detectors. The alarms are nice and loud. It is a relief to know we have this extra protection. And they have not once sounded off accidentally in the several weeks they have been installed, although the alarm near the kitchen sounded off two different times when we were using the oven. Update: They really work, thank goodness. The kitchen one went off the other day when the toast was burning. ... show more

  • Excellent Value
First Alert SM100 Battery Operated Smoke Alarm 3-Pack. I bought these to replace my 3 old First Alert smoke detectors that reached the end of their lives. They're a "Contractor's Pack" since they arrived in a plain cardboard box inside an Amazon Prime shipping carton. All 3 detectors were Made in Mexico and are dated 2024 JUL 25 L9, so they're fresh. The included 9 volt heavy-duty battery is Made in China by BP. I'll replace it after it dies with a 9V alkaline battery. The new detector is similar, but not identical, to my old one. Because the new detector is a little larger in diameter, it won't fit into the old base. Note that I didn't have to relocate the screw holes to align with the new base plate. That made installation very easy - the new base plate fit over the old screws. Good design, First Alert! I didn't expect that. Time will tell if they last as long as their predecessors. Assuming that they will, I give them 5 stars! ... show more

  • Seperate your CO detector.
I found the smart home smoke alarm unnecessary so we went simple. We also found out the CO detector has a life time of 5-7 years and it will stop working. So, this means your smoke detector will no longer work.

  • First Alert is the Safer Choice
Size: 1-Pack Style: Standard Detection Pattern Name: SA320FF
This is my second purchase of a First Alert Dual Sensor Smoke and Fire Alarm. I turned to this product after I found that the Kidde smoke detectors installed as part of the real estate transaction on the purchase of my new home were complete duds. I want to take this opportunity to point out that in some states it's no longer possible to buy a conventional battery-operated smoke alarm. I am glad Amazon did not prohibit the shipping to California, where I live, because I am absolutely convinced that our clueless legislators have created a public safety hazard by forcing the sale of smoke detectors to rely on 10-year (non-replaceable) batteries. Because I had "new" smoke detectors installed in my home and because the "Push to Test" feature worked, I could have been clueless for as long as 10 years that they were in fact inoperable units. The only reason I learned otherwise is because I nearly burned down my house using a vintage toaster (my bad) the second week after I moved in. I thought it was a fluke that neither of the Kidde smoke alarms went off since they were located in bedrooms (not the kitchen). But then I had a near miss a few weeks later when the damper (newly installed!) stuck closed on first use of my fireplace. In that instance, the entire house filled up with smoke to the point where I had to open all the windows and doors in the dead of winter and evacuate myself (asthma) and my pets to let the smoke clear. Again, the "new" Kidde smoke detectors with 10-year batteries failed to emit a single chirp. Further testing would reveal that even burning a paper towel with a lighter an inch away would not provoke the Kidde smoke detectors to sound an alarm. The problem with forcing consumers to rely on 10-year safety devices that are built to cheap Chinese standards is that they can be defective for that long and consumers may not be the wiser because the longer they stay in place and the less attention they require — i.e. to change out batteries on daylight savings as is the usual practice with a conventional smoke detector — the more likely it is that consumers will miss the fact that A) their device is defective or B) 10 years has lapsed and the battery is dead. I hope other States do not follow California's lead and that this dual-sensor smoke detector is not discontinued. Thanks to the wake-up call with the Kidde detectors — which relied on a single-sensor design — I performed the same paper-towel test with these First Alert smoke detectors and they passed. At the same time, these are not so sensitive that they produce false alarms. The reason I turned to First Alert was because I contacted Kidde in the hope that they would consider recalling the smoke alarms that did not work in my home. After all, what are the odds that not one but two would be defective? They agreed only to replace my smoke detectors — but they took TWO MONTHS to ship me the replacements, which was an unacceptable length of time to go without a working smoke detector in my home! If anything, my advice to politicians who are considering making laws about safety products of this type is that they mandate a dual-sensor design — but continue to give consumers the choice as to whether or not they prefer to change batteries annually or take their chances with the 10-year variety. Thank you, First Alert. ... show more
