  • I bought 50... and it was worth it
Style: 6th Edition Alarm Size: 2 Pack
I purchased 50 smoke/co detectors to replace standard smoke detectors that I had in hotel rooms to ensure that we will remain up to fire code come August. Out of all 50, I had a single box that didn't include the wires. Every smoke detector worked and all batteries were charged. I went with Kiddie-brand for my purchase because they have always been reliable and we want to ensure we are utilizing quality product when it comes to health and safety. I purchased these because they were an overall cheap option (in comparison with similar models), it has hardwire capability, and because these appeared more modern and sleek. There were other models that would've matched what we had, but these were a great fit overall for our hotel. These can be hardwired, but do not have to be. We did hardwire into our fire protection system, and it was very easy. We simply pulled down the old smoke detectors, loosened the screws for the ceiling mount and pulled the old mount. Then we pulled the wires down, removed the wire caps, and wired in the new wires so that they are tight and snug, and tucked them back into the ceiling. We put the new mount on the existing mounting screws and tightened it down. Then we simply held the battery door, pulled the tab, inserted the wire male end into the female port on the smoke detector and we were done. The only worries I have is that dust may build up on the lip of the smoke detector, and that the battery compartment door is rather flimsy. The packaging is great, and they cover the smoke detectors in a piece of hard plastic and a soft sort of "shower cap" to make sure it's protected even if the box is damaged. Overall, great product. I'll try to remember to update this over the years, but chances are that I'll forget before the day is over! Happy purchasing ... show more

  • Best Detectors I have purchased
Style: 6th Edition Alarm Size: 1 Pack
When we purchased our home it did no have any gas appliances so did not have any carbon monoxide detectors installed in the home. Fast forward to the next winter we upgraded our HVAC system to a gas furnace so wanted to ensure our home and family was protected from the dangers of potential gas leaks. When choosing an detector I wanted to make sure that it was hard wired in with our entire house as well as have a detector that had a smoke detector as well. After researching different brands I found that I liked the reviews on the Kidde Hardwired Smoke & Carbon Monoxide Detector the best as it also had the AA battery backup. Coming from public safety a backup is always preferred as living in more rural areas seconds and minutes count to get out and get to safety. After turning off the breaker and testing to make sure power was off to the detector circuit, Installation was a breeze with the provided instructions and only took a few minutes to install once the old detector was disconnected. I made sure that the battery was also good before connecting it to the power as well. Once the new Kidde Hardwired Smoke & Carbon Monoxide Detector's were all installed I made my way through the house and tested each one. If your detectors are all connected I love that when one is alerting, they all alert to warn the entire house of the danger. After using for a few months now I will definitely purchase Kidde detectors in the future if needed. The value of safety is priceless but the cost of the detectors is well worth the listing. Be sure to always change your detector batteries once a year!! ... show more

  • Needs Improvement
Style: 6th Edition Alarm Size: 1 Pack
My alarm started beeping every week, so I replaced the batteries. Then, a few weeks later it started beeping again (My dog shutters at the sound ) so I put another set of new batteries in thinking that maybe the others were no good. While doing this both times was a hassle. The tab to open the batteries needs improvements. In order for me to accomplish this task after trying very hard to move it, I had to literally pull on the wires to unplug the wires in order to get to the batteries. The other one I had was more simple. I don't know why people have to change things when the old way is better. Now, as I write this review, my alarm is beeping again. It may be that this device is defective. OMG! I'ver never had more problems with a smoke alarm! ... show more

  • Good value but why change connectors?
Style: 6th Edition Alarm Size: 2 Pack
Seems all the replacement Kidde combo detectors have a different electrical clip that requires you to unplug the wire nuts and have to reattach the wire to new clips which some homeowners may not be capable of. Just makes things harder for folks with no benefit. The detector works great once it’s live. ... show more

  • Easy Installation.
Style: 6th Edition Alarm Size: 1 Pack
Nice quality product. Had to replace the original after 10 years. Only thing is that the plug is slightly different than the original, so we needed to call an electrician to make the adjustment. Was an easy fix since everything is included in the box. Sound will surely wake you up if it goes off in the middle of the night. Great value for the money. ... show more

  • Replaces alarms that time out.
Style: 6th Edition Alarm Size: 1 Pack
The house is a bit more than 8 years old and has a bunch of these detectors. They still function perfectly, but someone thought it good business and got the law changed to force replacement of these detectors by starting a never ending beep. The choice is to replace a still working unit with another one, or toss it and go without. The plug did not match, so I had to wire the new one into the wire nuts, seems like an unnecessary step too. The new alarm now works without beeping. Reminds me of the seat belts in 1974 cars that prevented you from starting the car, even to go down your private drive to the mailbox, easily cured with a bit of rewiring under the seat. I suspect many will go without a smoke detector because of this 8 year replacement "feature". ... show more

  • Great OEM replacement for my 10 year old units
Style: 9th Edition Alarm Size: 1 Pack
Had 10+ year old detectors and they were letting me know that by chirping. Changed the batteries but that wasn't the issue. Guess they had to be replaced. Bought the same newer model and still had to swap the connector. Wasn't all that hard to do. Very easy to replace.
