  • High quality stainless steel case that looks good and should last a lifetime. .
The title of this review says it all.

  • Seems to be high quality and works well so far.
I purchased this to replace a cheaper, but brand name power supply. The old one was still working but started making a fairly loud humming noise when on, so I didn't trust it. I purchased this Kichler unit because we have Kichler lights on our hardscaping that was completed over 10 years ago, and they're still all working. This unit is heavier than the old one and all aspects of it scream quality. So far, it is completely quiet and there is no discernible heat being transferred to the case. ... show more

  • Compact Attractive Design
This model no longer shows up on the Kichler website, so it may have been discontinued. That said, this is a well designed, attractive, compact DIGITAL transformer. It's not a magnetic transformer. It's important to note there is both a MINIMUM load of 60 watts and a MAXIMUM load of 180 watts. LEDs are low wattage, so add up you loads to ensure you meet the minimum. I didn't know of the min load in advance, but I got lucky. If it's like most PWM circuits operating below min will result in increased heat and poor regulation. It has good, well written instructions with several installation tips. Manufacturer warranty is 10 years according to the installation instructions. It's sealed and rated for wet locations, but would recommend installing it under a porch or overhang to avoid drenching downpours. I'd avoid putting it into an enclosure since it relies on free air conduction to cool the unit. Highly recommend DryConn connectors instead of using the cheap insulation piercing connectors that come with many landscape lights. ... show more

  • Sturdy, a notch or two above the usual consumer-grade powerpacks
Can't speak to the water resistant properties of this unit; mine is installed in a larger enclosure that includes terminal strips to better split out the power output. At present, the 12 volt feed is adequate for 2 runs of path lights, a couple of tree illuminators, and 5 wash lights at the front of the house, coming to about 65 watts total. Another long run is under consideration, to reach a tree at the end of the driveway; this might necessitate the use of the 15 volt output. The photocell works very well, and in the current installation, the timer is not employed. It was interesting that there was no need to set up the timer; it emerged from the box with the correct time! The stainless steel construction looks like it would stand up to moisture, and the transformer is potted for protection. The pushbutton switches and digital display should probably be sheltered, rather than exposed to the full force of weather. It is not cheap, but at some point, an additional unit will probably be procured, in order to light up the backyard rock garden and waterfall. ... show more

  • High quality, heavy duty and well made.
Bought this unit to replace a very old Malibu transformer. It seems to be built very well. The programming is a bit cumbersome to set up, but it works great once it's up and running.

  • Good looking transformer
Fully programmable and durable. I have 4 systems on my property to light up the landscape. Read the instructions and be familiar with your system...load the appropriate amount of fixtures and this transformer will do the job...good looking product and all digital !

  • Replaced a smaller, but more expensive, Tru-scapes transformer
This replaced a Tru-scapes transformer which had a physical dial and an added photo-sensor. The Kichler unit feels more solid, is a bit more compact, and has no moving parts. The exterior lights turn on at dusk and I largely forget about it. My previous transformer somehow had the cover blown off when we had some serious winds (it must not have been completely secured) and the unit got wet and no longer functioned. This one has no cover and looks to be more water-tight than the Tru-scapes model. Hopefully it lasts me for many years! ... show more

  • Excellent features for a reasonable price.
Low voltage transformers have come a long way since the 90’s when I purchased my first. This unit is sensitive to the light that it comes on at the right time. Older systems didn’t have that feature and when they did they were on too early.
