New AC works fine and cools efficiently as intended. Mounted in a thru-wall area of the den and seems to be a perfect fit per dimensions that were listed for the unit. The dehumidifier function also seems to work very well (even though we have a whole home dehumidifier in the main part of our home) in the extended area of our home (office, hall, den, bathroom- approx. 900+ SF). The size and finish is clean and bright. INSTALLING is actually easy, but the long-winded manual could lead you to believe it’s complex. Simple diagrams and short captions would have been better. I put the metal bar and side fins all in backwards, and had to undo it all and flip it around. Once I did, it was instantly easy and installed perfectly. Flush with the window frame, perfect tilt backwards for drainage. It’s small and only moderately heavy so lifting it to the window by yourself is pretty easy, depending on your strength. NOISE: high fan is pretty loud. Low fan is pretty soft. It’s a loud WOOSHING sound, not a loud “machine” sound. Regarding the remote, there’s a 1 second delay between pressing any button, and the AC responding. If you press a button repeatedly to try to cycle through options, the AC won’t respond. Just press once, wait 1 second and the AC will receive the command. ... show more

Let me start by saying that I compared window A/C units for nearly a week before finally pulling the trigger on this one (KSTAW05BE) I’ve now owned this model for an entire summer and am very satisfied. I have a medium sized room on the top floor of the house. Over the summer I would leave the A/C running several hours of the day (my bedroom is also my office) and it never let me down. The energy save feature is nice for that reason so that it isn’t using constant electricity. The remote is also a really nice bonus so I can control it from my bed. One concern of mine when selecting a unit was the styromfoam that some units have on the inside. I didn’t know this one had that, so I was a little disappointed at first. But after having it all summer I can honestly say it didn’t make a difference. The unit cranks cool air so fast I don’t think the material matters that much unless maybe you’re looking to keep the unit for a lifetime. For me and my needs it works perfectly. Overall I thought the bang for the buck was the best for this unit. I wanted something midgrade - not too fancy but not one that I would have to replace next year. My largest concern was noise. I expect some noise from the airflow but I had read some reviews of other units talking about random ear-piercing buzzing sounds or really loud beeping. This unit beeps when you press the buttons and when turning off and on but that is all. No random noises or abrupt stops (unless in energy save mode where it will turn off and on every so often). The product came in a box with no bottom, unit was extremely damaged. It was open in the bottom with just foam under the unit, wrapped with plastic ties to keep it together. Made my room INCREDIBLY hot because of the accordion piece, felt like a Sauna in my room. Took about 40 mins to install, then the air would not blow out further than about an inch. Had to pay an extra 10 dollars for a box just to return this thing since the box that it was sent in was messed up. DO NOT RECOMMEND. ... show more

not silent but definitely quieter than what was there , light weight , accept side that has compressor , little heavy , if your window has good support and is level , it goes right in no problem easy to secure , and easy to apply foam if you need a small room ac this will work
