UPDATE - I have had this vacuum for 4 years now, using it daily in a large home. It runs and operates as well as when I first bought it. Still a beast, has great suction and gets the job done - I have 2 dogs who shed, it does a better job at picking up the pet hair and dander than any other vacuum I have had over the years. It's very durable and built to last, and after 4 years it certainly is lasting. ---------------------------------------------------------------- Have had it for a week, got it when my Dyson Animal Ball V2 needed repair again. This vacuum is a beast, with much more suction than the Dyson, and just works better. The ability to adjust carpet size is awesome. Trying to do a high pile carpet with the Dyson was work, hard work and it just didn't do a good job -- not so with the Kenmore - I can maneuver the vacuum and it gets the dirt and pet hair up. The attachment works great, it gets the dog hair off my couches with one pass - whereas with my current name-brand vacuum, it took several passes and a bit of work. The hose could be longer for the attachments, but nothing I can't live with given how good of a job it does. Very pleased with the Kenmore overall. update - 11/29/23 - have had this for nearly 2 years, and it is still running strong. Great motor. This is the most powerful vacuum I've ever owned, but I would not buy it again for two reasons. It is way too heavy, despite its claim of being "lightweight", to the point that no one wants to use it. We instantly go for the crappy, battery powered lightweight vacuum instead. Next, when ordering, I had filtered all vacuum cleaners on Amazon until I got to this one. The most important feature I checked was a retractable cord. Somehow, this model appeared in my search results, despite its not having a retractable cord, and I didn't catch it until I had put it together. I won't make that mistake again, but I'm adding it here in the event the filter isn't fixed before someone else lands in the same position. The cord is very long, which is great, but I never want to wind up another super-long cord again. ... show more

I spent a long time on reddit researching which vacuum to get and I’m so glad I settled for this one. It does such an amazing job of vacuuming up the cat litter out of the carpet and cat hair. It didn’t take very long to assemble it but it is a little heavy. Nothing too crazy but heavier than a cheaper vacuum. I love that it has a HEPA filter in it bc it definitely helps with the smell of the room with the litter. It’s a sleek design and the quality is worth the money. I love that it came with a ton of replacement bags too ... show more

We have entirely too many animals, and those entirely too many pets shed a lot of hair. I have purchased a bunch of vacuums over the years and all of them have choked and clogged on the sheer amount of dog and cat hair that ends up in the carpet. So far, though, this Kenmore one is different. It has a tremendous amount of suction power and cleans better than any other vacuum I've had. I am not particularly fond of vacuums that require bags, but the suction power of this vacuum made up for that, in my opinion (and the bags are very easy to change without making a mess). It's a bit heavier than other vacuums I've had. I wouldn't want to have to drag it up a set of stairs very often, and it takes a bit more effort to push than some other vacs, but I think the results are worth it. ... show more

    • No extension hose. Lacks maneuverability. Heavy!

I needed a vacuum with hepa filtration, head lights, and good with pet hair. All which this vacuum has. However, this vacuum doesn't come with a extension hose which is necessary for the vacuum to be more efficient. This is a grave omission since the unit itself is really great. The suction is strong, and handles cat hair and litter on hardwood floors. The pet hair attatchment is a plus for furniture, but is difficult to use since there isn't an extension hose. The telescopic wand is nice, but doesn't take the place of a flexible extension hose. You can only use this vacuum on stairs that are reasonable in height. Meaning, if you have a large flight of stairs to vacuum forget it! Again, the hose wont reach, and the vacuum is heavy. Heavier than my Riccar which I thought was on the heavy side. If you need to transport the vacuum to different levels of the house, this could be a problem since there isn't a handle to lift the vacuum, and like I had mentioned before, the unit is heavy. The vacuum's suction is great! It gets all the debris around the corners of the room. Keeping this in mind, the noise level is loud. Especially, if you use it in a smaller confined room. My cats hate it! I wouldn't reccomend this vacuum if you have smaller areas. The vacuum does not maneuver well under or around furniture. The suction power on this vacuum is like none we have ever had. I had high hopes for this vacuum, and I have not been disappointed by any measure. In fact, the only thing I was concerned about was the roller brush that had an erroneous review. The roller brush attachment is so powerful it startled me when it began to spin. Most vacuums either don't have this attachment or it is virtually useless. I love the height adjustment feature as well as the LED headlights. This vacuum has it all and at a price point that can't be beat. We even received 6 bags. Finally, if there is anything to mention as a slight negative it would be the louder than normal motor, but I will take that along with the incredible power it delivers any day. ... show more
