  • Nice inflator. Love the "hands off" feature.
I have a Ryobi 18V inflator that I've used for 2 - 3 years. It works OK, but it takes a while to inflate tires and the hose gets too hot to touch. The main reason I got the KeenPower inflator was to see how the auto feature worked. The package includes a battery, 120V power supply to charge the battery, and a long power supply cord with a cigarette style plug. (The case is big enough to hold the inflator with the battery attached.) To compare the two I lowered a tire on my pickup to 20 psi and inflated the tire with the Ryobi first. Holding the trigger the whole time it took 4 minutes and 40 seconds to reach 36. (I checked the pressure with two independent gauges.) I lowered the pressure back down to 20 psi and turned on and connected the KeenPower inflator. I selected the Car Mode (preset to 36 psi) and pushed the trigger. It took 4 minutes and 20 seconds for the inflator to reach 36 psi. The best part was that after pushing the trigger it ran by itself until reaching 36 psi and then shut off. (FYI: the inflator shows psi in 0.5 lb. increments.) I also used the inflator on a couple of bicycle tires in that mode. Inflated those quickly and shut off at the preset (40 psi) pressure. FYI: the weight without battery: KeenPower 1 lb. 11oz. Ryobi 1lb. 7 oz. The big advantage of the KeenPower is the "auto inflate" mode. For large tires, starting the inflation and not having to hold the trigger is a big plus. A disadvantage is that I have plenty of 18V Ryobi batteries to swap out if needed. With the KeenPower you will have to wait for it to recharge or use the included adapter and plug into a cigarette lighter outlet. (Their store on Amazon does show a spare battery for sale but it is currently unavailable.) Overall, I recommend this inflator. Using the auto-inflate mode is a big plus when inflating automobile, or larger, size tires. ... show more

  • Powerful Little Tool
I was excited to get this tool, but was a little worried that it might not be up to the task that I had for it, but it surprised me and exceeded my expectations. I tested this by raising my motorhomes tire pressure from 64 PSI to 81 PSI; I normally run 80 PSI in the front tires but in the winter when the temperature is cold, the PSI drops significantly. The total time that it took for the tool to finish the job includes time that I had to wait for the operating temperature to come back to a normal range; it took about 12 minutes total. Not bad, but here are the details: - Initial run from 64 PSI to 79 PSI took about 3 to 4 minutes moving about 5 PSI per minute, which I thought was great considering the large RV tires that it was filling. - The tool displayed, HO1, and stopped. The instructions say that the unit will stop when the operating temperature reaches 125F degrees and will display HO1. It won't return to operation until the unit reaches under 80F degrees. - After about 10 minutes of waiting and me rechecking every few minutes, the HO1 display disappeared and I was back in business. - I reset the tool to 81 PSI and let it go and it finished after about a minute and stopped on its own. I like the handy size of this tool - it fits in its small carrying case and zips up, ready to be used. It can work off of the rechargeable 21V battery or can be directly powered via cord and a car cigarette (accessory port) lighter. I won't use this as my regular tire filler because I feel like the wear and tear on the small unit wouldn't be worth it. The usefulness of this tool is its portability and the ability to carry it for backups and emergencies. Overall, this feels like a solidly built tool and I wouldn't have any problem carrying this as a backup tool for roadside emergencies. ... show more

  • EXACTLY what I needed
We had some lower temperatures, and my tire pressure sensor lit up, so I had a perfect opportunity to test this when it came in. First, above all, it does the job. I aired all four tires up to the same pressure and got rid of the light. It has some features I really like. It will run off of car power, like most of these portable inflators. But it comes with a 20v rechargeable battery. You can literally pull it out of the trunk and air up a tire without stretching wires out. It has a built-in pressure gauge. You set it for the desired pressure, so you don't even have to keep thinking about it. I checked it against my own stand alone gauge, and it was dead on. It comes in a nice case that keeps everything together, and from rattling around in your trunk. Understand that none of these small compressors are going to be fast like a big A/C compressor at home. They can't. If they could, nobody would buy those big compressors. This one is about as fast as you can expect from a portable inflator. i have a wife that travels for work, and a daughter that commutes to a university. I dread having one of them call and tell me that the tire pressure light just went on. I'm almost forced to jump in the car and go to them. I'm putting one of these in both of their cars. They can connect it easily, using the 20v battery, and get the light to go off. If it goes on again, I know that they have a faster leak. But most of the time, this will get them home where I can deal with the problem my way. ... show more
