Camera installed with no problem except the "antistatic" film which I fail to see the reason for it to be used. Secondly it fell off within minutes of being mounted to the glass despite cleaning the glass with alcohol swabs. Gave up on the film and just mounted the cameras. Seems to work ok. Instructions could be more detailed but at least they are in english as well as other languages. ... show more

My current dash cam stopped working and because it helped when I was in an accident I bought a new one. I actually had bought 2 others but reutrned cause they were terriable qualtity. Then I saw the KAWA True 4K Dash Cam and purchased. I am so happy with the purchase for many reasons One thing I had a hard time finding were cameras that did not stick to the windshield. I had my old one handing from the rearview mirror and wanted the same thing. This one was able to be used with the universal kits. Picture quality is good. Only reason why I put 4 stars is because I found the cable from the main cam a tiny bit short but it still worked just had to be creative where I ran it in the car. The other is beause the app does work well and cool to watch live on the phone while driving but the connection and set up was a little confusing.. However , the camera it self I would highly recommend . ... show more

I bought this for my truck and all the crazy Florida drivers. The camera was very easy to install and links to my phone with WiFi. Video quality is super clean day and night time. Video live on the live screen is crispy and once the video is downloaded to your phone you’ll get that super crispy 4K and also has audio recording in case of any altercations you can have audio of what was said during the incident. This is a nice dash cam with several minor issues, which I’ll discuss below. But overall, in my opinion, this is a really nice dash cam for the money. The voice recognition feature makes it really easy to use safely and hands-free. The front-facing 4K video and photo are quite clear. It also comes with a rear-facing camera (which I’ve not yet tried), which has a lower resolution of 1080P, I believe. It has a parking monitor feature that will detect if your car is bumped in a parking lot and cause it to do a capture. However, since it doesn’t have a built-in battery, it will need some power source for the parking monitor to work when your vehicle is shut off. In my case, my ACC cigarette lighter receptacle has no power when the car is shut off. I think an easy solution would be a USB battery bank that I could plug the cam into when I park. It has speech recognition, and it understands the following voice commands (English, Japanese, French, Russian): - Turn on hotspot - Turn off hotspot - Take photo - Lock the video - Turn on audio - Turn off audio - Turn on WiFi - Turn off WiFi Note that there are options to toggle hotspot and WiFi, yet the device appears only to support its own private WiFi, which you must connect to with your phone. The two options may do the same thing, but that’s not clarified anywhere in the documentation, at least not that I can find. The voice recognition works surprisingly well when I’m stopped, and there is no cabin noise. When I’m on the highway, its recognition is hit or miss; sometimes, it works, and sometimes, it doesn’t. It only has a single microphone, so that’s expected. If you have a really quiet vehicle, that will work best. You can set the record interval to 1, 2, or 3-minute clips. It works by writing a clip to the SD card and then starting a new clip after the interval you've set. You will have hundreds of short videos if you have a large SD card. I’m glad it functions like this, as I can go back an hour or two later and pull a video I want to save, provided I know the timestamp to look for. I’ve not yet run out of space, but what should happen when the card is full is that the oldest video clip will get deleted. You can turn the MIC on/off in the app settings with a voice command or with a button press. You can also toggle the MIC off in the app settings from your phone. Turning off the MIC disables recording audio from inside your vehicle cabin (so your speaking doesn't end up on the video clips). Speech recognition still works if the MIC is off. The phone app has multiple settings you can change, such as setting the device time from the phone. I don't see any way of upgrading the firmware. This is despite the settings on the device saying you can upgrade firmware from the app. It may only appear in the app when new firmware is available. Or maybe they haven’t added that feature to the app yet. There is a KAWA Windows App, but it’s Windows only; there is no Mac version. The app is version 1.0 as I write this review. It’s an unsigned app and throws up an alert in Windows recommending that you not install it. You have to click past the warning to get it installed. I really don’t like that they haven’t certified their app; it seems unprofessional. Hopefully, they will fix this. The app allows you to view sensor data from a video clip and plots the GPS position on Google Maps. It also lets you extract a photo from a video clip and a few other options. There is no ability to edit or split a video. The firmware menu shows a time-lapse recording feature, but I’m unable to find any way to activate it. IMO, these are all minor issues.
