Bought this to use on a trip to the Boundary Waters. Was easily capable of providing enough water for all 4 of us. The flow rate was surprisingly fast. Filtered 3 liters of lake water in 3-5 minutes. After about 12 liters flow began to slow down, but a quick "swish" cleaning session returned filter to its original flow rate. Packs down fairly small, lightweight. The included strap for hanging is functional, albeit a little bulky. Only true complaint would be the fill method. Rather than the rear portion of the bag opening and allowing for scooping, it is only through the cap/filter end that the bag is filled. There is a nice loop attached to the bag that allows for pulling the bag through the water, but it still requires several scoops to get the bag full when drawing from a shallow water source. All of that could be avoided by making the other end an opening rather than sealed. Another nice touch is the quick connect cap, so that a hydration port tube can be attached allowing for drinking directly from the filter bag. Overall I am very happy with the system. ... show more

Really easy to use, clean, carry, and dry. Took it on an 18-mile trek and was able to use it for the whole group. I’m a big fan. Its worth the investment.

Does the job, Love being able to grab up to 3L of water at once. Wish it filtered a little quicker, like the more expensive options or the pump version, but otherwise filters great and does what it needs to do on the trail!

I have had this filter almost a year now so I feel licensed to submit a review. When I first used this filter ( on the AT)the water flow was very fast. Over time it got slower. I looked on forums about how to clean the filter cartridge as the manufacturer says sloshing clean water in the bag would clean it. No luck with that. Someone recommended using hot water and CLR. Maybe it helped. Mostly getting air bubbles out of the hose by squeezing the length of hose with my fingers helped. Water flow is not as new but acceptable. My biggest gripe is over the bladder developing a pin hole for no apparent reason. I used kid gloves with the thing but apparently I am not the only one this happened to. Luckily I had some super glue and electrical tape and made a successful in field repair. Ultimately it's not a bad filter system and I prefer gravity filters but buyer beware. ... show more

I've been using this on my backpacking trips as an upgrade from a hand-pump system. I cannot rate this product highly enough. Fast, easy, light. If you don't have a gravity system like this one, do yourself a favor and upgrade.

This is an amazing filter. I love to fill it up before sun down to have plenty of water to anything I might need at camp. The one thing I would change is the mouth size. Its kind of hard to fill up from standing water without the bag collapsing, between that and the smaller mouth size you have to keep dipping and dragging to fill it up, even then it won't be full. ... show more
