I got this doorbell cam to replace a model from another vendor which I previously picked up at a local big box store...I am much happier with the Kasa model and it's great that it works within the same app as other TP link products like the Deco line and TP link plugs etc. The install is easy but you may need to drill. My mounting holes were not aligned with the template and they are holes vs slots...slots would be nice so you could avoid drilling additional holes into the home/door frame. Field of view and resolution are great. Night vision is better than my other camera but limited by small aperture on the doorbell cam. The people and vehicle detection is nice, but I make more use of the exclusion zones to record only what matters to me. Customized alerts, time controls, and more. Top notch app on top of an affordable, easy to install, high performing camera. 5 stars. Note: this doorbell cam DOES stick out from the frame more than others I've installed. Might bother some. I was looking around for a doorbell camera that was wired and does not have a subscription option. After having a battery doorbell cam, I quickly learned that during the winters the battery life was a lot shorter and found myself constantly charging. I went with Kasa because I have bought a number of their products and found that they are all amazing. Easy to install and of all the products, I think I have only had 1 fail me out of 20. Which says a lot. Let start with the installation. The instructions were very straight forward. The only challenge I ran into was more to do with the placement of the old door bell. With my house, the old doorbell was lower, so I had to think about how I can extend the wire without having exposed wire. The need for extending the wire was mainly to ensure that the person's face would be seen when they ring the bell. This was probably the most time consuming part of the install. Aside from this step, this was the easiest home project. Camera quality: I place a 128gb card in the back of the camera. One fault with the camera is that it can be difficult to take off the camera once it is snapped on. I was concerned with breaking the contacts. I would recommend a good size card to be safe. For the camera quality, overall it is ok. Not the best that I have seen but from the price point it isn't bad at all. I wish that the lens would be a wider lens to capture a broad area rather than such a narrow lens. App: The app is super easy to use, I am a huge fan of how it seamlessly connects with Alexa and my Apple Watch. Overall, the app is user friendly. I like that it seamlessly connects with amazon. This makes it easier to know when someone is at the door because I receive a chime on my watch and through the echo. ... show more

I happily used this product for years, until a storm and power surge took it out. The video quality is great, the optional subscription is affordable, the night vision is quality. The notifications are quick, and the optional areas of activity are great. I also liked, living as a single mother, the pre recorded options of a man's voice saying things like "can I help you?", "I'm calling the police", etc. The chime is also loud enough, and has many options. What I mostly what to rave about is the customer service. After my last one quit functioning they were extremely helpful with trouble shooting what went wrong, and then replaced it. It ended up being that the storm had fried the wiring itself so sadly I had to switch companies because I have to use battery powered now.
