  • Review after a few months of use
Color: White Size: 18x18 Inch (Pack of 1)
I bought this chair in Oct, and have had it for a few months. Here are my inpressions - Likes - Chair is sturdy for a folding chair, considering folding chairs tend to have more flex in them compared to rigid frame ones. The quick release mechanisms work well, and the rear wheels can pop on and off with ease. The chair has a clever way of handling armrests, they swivel back and forward, so you can push them out of the way to make transfers easy. I found that I can roll with them "pushed back" , and not have it hit my arms. The back and seat are basically straps, that loop in via velcro, so you can set the tension to what you like. Once done, you have a backrest you loop over and velcro down, and the same goes for the seat. I found this to be very clever, since you can adjust if you want to have the seat be taut by your butt, and a little looser by your legs. My past experience is that with a seat, it tends to sag in a certain area due to weight distribution. This way of doing it, shows that someone tried to think this through, and come up with a solution. I have not had to adjust the strapping since I set it. The S seat, which Karman pushes as a design feature on this chair, I like allot. Basically, the seat is waved, so you get tucked back when you sit properly, and you don't slide forward as easily. Almost everything about this chair is adjustable. You can adjust foot rest height, the height, and how far back you want the back axles, depending on your upper body height, how far forward you want the front casters in accordance to the chairframe, and even the depth of the brakes, along with the back height. The chair I got came with one inch thickness wheels, which took some getting used to, (I tend to use thicker tires), which was nice out of the box. My last chair I had to pay extra for that. It comes with a handpump, spare axle and toolkit, which is nice. The frame seems solid and well put together. What I did not like - The front wheels get kinda easily stuck. I have similar wheels on my older chair, but for some reason, this set just seem to balk at the smallest little rise or bump. Other reviewers have mentioned this too, and while its nothing a little muscle can't fix, I just want folks to be aware. When folding the chair, since this does not have footrests you can take of (due to the design) the frame feels a tad long, but your mileage may vary. Also, with the version I got from amazon, it has no push handles, but the chair can be ordered that way from Karmen directly. In closing, this is my go to house chair. I think for the money, this is a well put together chair that gives you the feel of a rigid frame chair, but can fold as well. I traveled internationally with this chair, and it made it through the trip just fine. For the money? I feel that this is a good buy, considering I had never heard of karmen before. What you get for the price made this a good value for money, compared to other chairs I had that cost more, but came with less. It's functional, and works well (so far). The only reason this chair isn't a 5 for me, is due to the fact that I am still using my fixed frame chair when I am out and about, partly because I am so used to it. I use this chair when I get home, and in my house, but this could serve as your "full time" chair with no issue. It does save me one less load/unload in the car when I get home, so that is worth something. I hope this helps, not all chairs will work for everyone, as some reviewers had alluded to, but for me this was a good buy, and can definitely do the job as a single standalone chair. ... show more

  • Hmmm...the frame was wonky
This crooked frame could be dangerous if it is cracked or something...and this chair is in no way only 15 pounds! It is more like 30 pounds. I will be investing in a carbon fiber one and keep this as a second one. It is really cute and customizable. As a first custom chair, it is pretty sweet! Oh for those that read the reviews before buying...plan to get other foot rests and casters. A bike shop can put those on for you. I ended up going with the TiLite angle adjustable footrest because that is one of the only ones the FreeWheel will go on. This is not the footrest to have, if you stand and pivot!!! For those needing or wanting push handles, Karman does sell the regular ones and the fold down ones separately...but be prepared to spend an arm and leg. Ski poles might be a thought...and one customer suggested the arm rests can be pushed back and twisted as well; just remember to tighten them. I like that idea...very creative. I am in a wheelchair because I broke my neck and a head rest is attachable, BUT you have to purchase push handles (??? not sure why) and they suggest the regular ones, not the fold down ones. EDIT: the armrests being used as push handles is very dangerous. If you are putting this chair in and out of a vehicle, there is NO WAY to lift it. The chair is foldable, but there is no way to lift it. I do suggest a TiLite rigidizer bar for the back. This will add weight to the chair and it is heavy to begin with...like 30 pounds...no way it is 15.4 pounds. Maybe the frame alone...but who is going to strip the complete chair. The seat and back are adjustable straps...NOT cushions that come off. They lied about that as well. I would invest in a different back. I'm not quite sure what the designers were thinking here...but if you have good core strength, it may not be necessary. I LOVE the brakes...very springy and easy to set! ... show more

  • Very nice chair , happy with my purchase
Color: White Size: 18x18 Inch (Pack of 1)
Just got it today my son put it together for me. I'm writing this review under my wife account the chair is for me Male 49. Amazon send me the black one not the white one, but it's ok it's a beautiful chair in black too. The back rest is adjustable for tight or loose via Velcro. Its very fast and i only use it here at home just to try it. The back rest has a built in pocket with the Karma logo thats nice. The seat is not that bad but tomorrow I'm getting my new cushion, looking foward to that. Overall I'm happy with the purchase even though they send me the wrong color. ... show more
