  • Good Inexpensive Wine Keeper
Style: Refrigerator
This is about the Kalamera 50 Bottle Compressor Wine Refrigerator Single Zone with Touch Control; 30 days of use. I used a remote readout thermometer and placed probes on the top shelf and the 2nd from the bottom. The variation of temp from top to bottom is insignificant. The variation of temp over time has been negligible most of the time (+/- 2 degrees), with occasional swings of 5 degrees above or below set temp. That performance is very good for a wine keeper of this price. I have one of another brand and the variation from top to bottom of that unit is much greater (+/- 10 degrees, which is a 20 degree swing). As others have observed, the shelves are very tight. When full, they are difficult to push in and pull out. But then I don't do that every day either. The unit is filled with standard cab bottles so they fit and I can fill the shelves, placing the bottles top to top. One shelf broke while I was loading the unit, but it was easily fixed with Gorilla Glue and a clamp. The shelves are built of thin wood, I presume to allow as much space for bottles as possible. Non-standard cab bottles, such as pinot bottles reduce the available space. I'm satisfied with this, especially for the price. During my research I ran into some similar sized wine keepers priced as high as $3,000. They don't perform significantly better than this one. They may be more durable, but I don't know that yet. The Kalamara is very quiet. I never notice any sound in a normal ambient sound environment. ... show more

  • Great Product - so far
Style: Refrigerator
First, let me address the packaging. I read some reviews that stated the packaging was not very good. This is absolutely not the case. The fridge was packed in a box surrounded on all 6 sides by 2 inch sheets of closed cell styrofoam. The box itself was heavy duty cardboard. The carton was then placed on a 4" wood pallet and another cardboard box was placed over it. The box was then secured to the pallet with nylon straps. The primary box containing the fridge could move slightly in the outer box absorbing any shocks during shipping. The product arrived in perfect condition. The unit holds a consistent 59 degrees and is easy to load. It is very quiet. If you get within 2-3 feet of it you can hear it when it's running but all in all it is as quiet if not quieter than my Samsung fridge. The unit holds plenty of bottles. I am not going to quibble if I can't fit 50 bottles in it. It holds plenty. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is for what I believe is a design oversight. I would like to have had one shelf with slightly wide spacing to accomodate larger diameter non standard cabernet bottles. This is a great cooler. I followed all the instructions before loading it up. No smells, no noise, no regrets. ... show more

  • Temperature Within 10 Degrees
Style: Refrigerator
We wanted reliable wine storage temp at reasonable price rather than precision. We got constant 67 at the top shelf and 64 at bottom shelf at a 60 setting with fridge in hot humid garage over the summer. It took days for temp to fix and stay constant. It runs quiet. Initial door condensation went away. Won't easily store 50 bottles but 40 slender Bordeaux bottles are easy to shelve, add and remove. We prefer wood shelves in spite of their lingering acrid aroma. We put the shelves in hot sun for a few days before we loaded fridge to reduce their odor. Its still there but not as strong or acrid now. ... show more

  • No Damage. Surprised by Racks. Good Unit
Style: Refrigerator
When I hit click to buy this unit, my largest fear based on the other reviews was that the fridge was going to arrive damaged. However, I was pleasantly surprised by the packaging. The unit was completely surrounded by styrofoam, and had 2 layers of cardboard. The unit arrived undamaged, which was excellent! The unit itself is solid. Some of the shelving is tight, as others have mentioned in their reviews. I agree that 50 bottles is a stretch with anything other than the common bottle size, but the top rack has a bit extra headroom for larger bottles. It's a quiet unit, and seems to hold temperature well. The one surprise was that the wooden racks are not on sliders of any sort. They basically sit on small "ledges" built into each side. This wasn't clear in the description. So the racks slide a bit rough. Also, the bottom 2 don't pull out all the way, which makes it difficult to get bottles in and out of them. Overall, it seems like a good unit for the money. ... show more

  • You're probably not going to fit 50 bottles in this nice little fridge.
Style: Refrigerator
I've had it for a couple weeks and so far I like it. As other reviewers have said: - The packaging is really lacking. Mine arrived with the box half opened which let the product bounce around and bust up even more of the packaging. Luckily mine didn't seem to have any damage, but I'd advise carefully examining upon arrival. - You will be lucky to fit 50 bottles into this fridge if you have anything other than the most common "cabernet" type bottles. If you have other types of bottles like dessert wines or syrah/chardonnay bottles you WILL NOT be able to fit 50 bottles in. I was able to cram about 40 bottles in, albeit very in-elegantly. That said, it is essentially silent when not "cooling", and pretty average volume level you might expect with a small refrigerator. The ultimate test will be to see how long it lasts, but so far I'm happy with it. ... show more

  • Good wine fridge
Style: Refrigerator
Good value for this product. Definitely does not hold 50 bottles as advertised but we use the smaller racks for beer. No smell as some reviews indicated. We waited 24hrs after installing it to plug it in as the instructions recommend and it has worked well so far. Very quiet. Update Aug 2022: we started noticing condensation under the door. Not sure what is causing it. We are watching it, if we can’t resolve, we’ll have to look for a different fridge Update Feb 2023: found the issue! The drain was blocked by a piece of insulation (QC anyone?). Corrected it and now working well ... show more
