This soft, orthopedic bed provides comfortable warmth even in sub-zero weather. It uses an internal thermostat to keep the temperature at a desirable 102 when the pet lies upon the heated pad; and will remain 10-15 degrees above ambient air temperature when your pet is not on the bed. Soft PVC protects from water and a free removable, washable cover is included for easy care. The K&H Lectro- Soft Outdoor Heated Dog & Cat Beds are recommended for Indoor or outdoor use.     • Constant use for 7 months still working well, good for old dog.

This is awesome. Our almost 14 year old smooth collie uses it daily in Western Washington state this entire past winter. I bought it almost 7 months ago and it’s been on and working the whole time. She is old and frail but still likes to be outside at times in the day to lord over her territory and bark at what she thinks might be the UPS delivery person, she can nap on this is the daytime. Due to doggie dementia she does get a lot of anxiety especially at night, but she is so cozy and comfy on this bed she sleeps very well. If she dose get up to potty and pace around a bit, she’s fine she goes back in on the warm bed and settles right back down. We also set up a heat lamp in there (also thank goodness for Blink camera in her doghouse to check on her!) so she is very comfy even sleeping in her dog house down to 30 degrees. This is in her doghouse in a protected area, the floor of the dog house is large enough that the side has about 6-7” where I fold up a blanket. She can then scoot off it partially if she is too warm. I had huge worry for her when she started with the night time anxiety and pacing /panting all night. After many sleepless nights on both our parts we finally got this figured out how everyone can sleep at night and the bed is key. Also, yes, anti-anxiety prescription. The bed is soft and cozy, not too soft that a feeble old doggie can’t get up though. I curled up On it in her house for a test when it was new and I can attest that it is comfy. For sure buy this if your elderly dog needs a soft warm place to sleep, especially if they like to be outside. I cannot speak to it being chew proof, she does not chew and never has so not a worry of mine. The cord is wire wrapped to protect it. It is holding up to “softening” of the bed by scratching/pawing.     • Best bed warmer for my old guy

This is the second one of these warmers we have purchased for our senior Queensland heeler. He is pretty old and he’s blind so he won’t sleep in the house because he r runs into things. He has half of the garage with extra insulation and many other things to make it comfortable for him. With his advanced age, keeping him warm is essential to his mobility. We used to use a kerosene heater out there but it was so expensive a couple years ago and it was costing over $200 every week and half to two weeks for heating fuel. I bought the first one of these pads and the very first night he was all stretched out on his bed and got up without stiff and sore in the morning. So no more risk from kerosene heater and the huge expense. And he was warmer with the pad. It worked great all last winter. Late spring I cleaned it thoroughly and put it away where it wouldn’t get damaged. The only problem is I don’t remember where that is. So we finally just said we’d get a new one and when we find the other one we’ll have a back up just in case. This one came with a different cover and because he tosses and turns a lot I added a couple of elastic straps to the back to keep the cover in place. I took it out this morning and plugged it in and he was snoring in the afternoon napping on it. The cord is great, completely metal encased to prevent chewing. And the pad cover has an opening so for the cord to pass thru and the cover stays in place. This years version is a bit different and I like that it’s softer than the old one. I almost bought one at the feed store last week, they are same price there as last year $108.99. But I saw I could get this one in a plain brown box with no fancy pictures on the outside and it saved me over $40!!! Who cares what the box looks like. So I have a happy warm dog with a safe warming pad and saved over $40 on the purchase price (made not being able to find the one from last winter a little less maddening) I’m gonna take the money I saved and but a rose bush and a lime tree!!!! This warming pad is worth the cost at over $100 but to get it for far less than that is a huge deal. Get this and you won’t be sorry and your pet will love you even more. ... show more

Best whelping mat by far! I've tried others and this is my all time fav! So worth the money. Once my doggos are fixed it will go outside in the cathouse so she can have a warm place for winter!
