These lights are great, in fact they are so great I bought five more sets.. Kids love taking turns picking what color the lights will be for the night, and I love that I get to put lights up once for all of the holidays. If you are inclined to leave these up year round or put them up in July they even have a red, white, & blue mode (press the multi color option on the remote a second time). The globes appear to be glass, but they are incredibly durable. One of the six strings of lights I got did not have all of the globes screwed on very well, and one of the fell from 3 feet onto concrete. It bounce 3-4 times and was completely undamaged. That was quite shocking. The globes screw in place, and I would recommend making sure they are all snug before going up a ladder ... The globes are screwed on, and the globe base is a press on locking affair. The base presses on and locks to the LED on the string, there is then an opaque clear/white plastic piece that goes over the base from the inside to lock it in place. All of this is to say that if one comes off you can put it back on easily, and they can be taken off easily if you have reason to do so. The remote is not great. It is advertised as having some good range to it, but I have found that I need to be with in 5-6 feet and the remote must be pointed at the side of the receiver with the IR sensor. Point the remote at the back side of the receiver and nothing happens. The strands will connect together. To do this, you take the sensor off of the next string allowing all of the stings to be controlled by the first string. I have strings of 3 and 2 strung together going in different directions. Each remote functions on all of the receivers -- meaning that if you have multiple runs of these lights you do not need to keep track of all of the remotes. When you have multiple runs sometimes they get out of sync when you are changing to multicolor modes if you dont have the remote held at the exact right angle to the dangle ... this can be fixed by changing them all to a different color and then back to what you intended, or unplugging the string that changed correctly. This works because the sensor retains its last setting when being unplugged and plugged back in. This memory is important as well for photovoltaic sensor switches if you are like me and dont like having to remember to plug-in/turn on lights every day but still want the lights to come back on a certain setting. ... show more

    • Love the colors but ..
Love the colors and color patterns. Remote control is good but i really don't like having two different bulbs. I prefer one style bulb . Would love to find this in one bulb shape.

    • No Warm White Setting!
The different color settings and modes are cool, and I really like the two types of bulbs. You can also make the colors brighter or dimmer, which also changes their shades, so in addition to the 10+ colors you can choose different shades. What I didn't like was that there's no warm white setting. I planned to use them on my tree, and that didn't happen. The other thing I was annoyed by was the remote. You can scroll thru the settings at the plug, but the remote has all the options on it, but it has to be within 18" of the plug to work. Convenient? It's not 🙄 One other thing to mention , before stringing them up, be sure to check each bulb cover to make sure it's screwed on all the way.     • Unique colorful lights but too small
These lights are a lot smaller than the description and stock photos, so it gets three stars. These lights would be really cool on a Christmas tree or decorating an indoor mantle but they are too small for anything outdoors. That said, I think the alternating bulb design is pretty cool and I'm impressed with the array of color options and effects. If this company remakes these next year but enlarges the bulbs, I'd consider purchasing again. ... show more

My kids love changing the colors on these. They want to leave them up all year and match the color to the holiday. They've survived a couple storms so far. We definitely plan on buying more.

    • Lights are funky, remote sucks
If using the remote, you basically have to be directly in front of the plug. Reason for 4/5. Otherwise, these lights are so fun. Love the mismatch bulbs. Might be keeping these bad boys up year round!
