  • Wow! Might be my best purchase in quite a while!
Size: Green
The media could not be loaded. It's been literal years since I've juiced, but decided recently to come back to it and give it a shot. Previously, I had used a high-speed centrifugal juicer, but in the back of my mind had always wanted a slow-masticating unit simply for the proposed benefits of nutrient retention, quality of juice, etc. Back then, there weren't any options under $400-500 and at the time, that was just a bit much to invest in something I wasn't quite sure I would stick with. Fast-forward to 2023, and with the options for juicers at reasonable price points, decided to take the plunge back into it. This unit was recommended to me by a friend, and with the additional coupon, found its way to my front door quickly and under a hundred bucks! First impressions: the unit seems well-designed and well put together, with a number of thoughtful features. The touch/feel of the body of the unit is kind of a slightly-rubberized soft touch, which was a good feel for it vs. a glossy finish. At this price point, I don't expect a unit that has a high number of stainless steel parts or anything of the sort, but the mesh is metal and seems to be stainless, and should last a long time. The rotating screw is plastic, but a heavy-duty THICK plastic and truth be told, I've dropped it a couple times already while cleaning with no apparent ill effects. The junction of the screw and motor is metal as well, so there's no real chance for deformation like if the whole thing were plastic. Operation: this is pretty simple and straightforward to operation. Since it's a slow-masticating unit, you can continue to add fruits and veggies after the cup is full the first time, as it won't really generate any heat to be concerned with. At least with what I've used so far (carrots, apples, kale, spinach, ginger, lime, orange) there's been very little foaming to note. The reverse switch is a nice touch in case anything gets jammed anywhere. I had a couple small pieces of lime peel that I backed out, and it worked well. I wouldn't necessarily call it loud, but it's not quiet either. The motor has to be powerful enough to chew through everything you throw at it, and it reflects that. The unit goes together and comes apart easily enough, with a couple tips I'll note below to help out. Results: honestly, fantastic! The juice is a high quality and does include some pulp due to the slow-masticating operation, so you don't totally lose all the fiber and nutrients that could be contained in the "meat" of the fruits/veggies, which is a downside to the high-speed centrifugal units. The pulp output I haven't figured out what I'm doing with quite yet, although it's likely to be used in some dog treats or something soon. Cleaning: okay, so here's where I'll add a couple thoughts and couple helpful tips if you happen to sometimes be a little slow like me in figuring this stuff out. Overall, the unit disassembles easily in enough parts to easily rinse it out without a lot of scrubbing. I've been using hot water alone and it cleans the unit thoroughly enough that I don't feel the need to do any more. The included brush/poker is super-helpful for getting everything out of the nooks and crannies, so don't be afraid to use it! Also - here's my big tip - I didn't realize at first that the screw actually comes out of the bottom unit with a little tug. It was in there firmly originally and I couldn't quite figure out how to clean the crud that was obviously under there...once I figured it just pulled out, it was like the clouds parted and the sun was shining a spotlight on it! A quick rinse and air-dry and it's ready to go again. Tips: -Pull the screw out when cleaning! -Use the brush/scraper thingy included with it -Read the instructions and cut the fruits/veggies into smaller parts -Not "needed" but removing the rind from citrus fruits avoids any clogging the tougher ones could cause -Since the unit works by rotating the screw, anything that has longer fiber threads should be chopped a little finer (and, ideally, across the fibers); note - I have had zero issues with kale, spinach, ginger so far... ... show more

  • Love the small footprint, ease of cleaning and just the right volume for a small household
Size: Green
I mostly use it to make morning green juice every other day and other juices when I feel like it. I purchased it after doing much research to find a small enough juicer that does what I need w/o too many attachments to store and easy to clean. I do like that it has a small footprint, which allows me to keep it on my countertop w/o loosing much kitchen workspace and w/o any extra parts to be stored elsewhere. ... show more

  • Excellent First Impression
Size: Green
First - this juicer is bigger than the pictures online look, but it still has a small footprint- so will work for my limited kitchen counter space. It is STURDY! I was surprised by its weight and the quality truly seems good throughout. It is relatively quiet for a juicer and it is easy to clean for the most part. The only area I had trouble with was by the juice spout- where some cabbage shreds got stuck - I had to work a bit to clear this area. HOWEVER, this could totally be my fault and not the juicers. Having never used a juicer like this- I over loaded the cut cabbage which caused a lot of it to get stuck to the sides and bottom. I cleaned it up, and the next round I cut slightly larger pieces and put in smaller amounts- this worked perfectly and in minutes I had a nice glass of juice. My first impression is that this is a winner. If that changes in the near future, I will update this review. ... show more

  • I should have bought one of these things years ago
Size: Green
To preface, I've used the twin gear style of masticating juicers, but those take up an obscene amount of countertop space while being a pain in the rear to clean. Sure they can eat almost anything but you have to make sure they will physically fit down the feed chute of the juicer. Enter the SOVIDER compact juicer. First off, the footprint of this marvelous little piece of engineering is tiny. I have dessert plates that take up more room. So that alone is a major win. I have tons of kitchen gadgets and only the most used items have earned the right to stay on my countertop. Second, the performance. I'm a numbers guy and I'll let the numbers speak for themselves. From 2 lbs 3.6 oz of cut cantaloupe, it produced 1lb 7.6oz of juice and 9oz of fairly dry pulp. Perfect, the little juicer that could. No problems with the crushing or ejection of pulp. Now for pineapple, this thing struggled a bit. 4lbs 10.6oz of fruit made 3lbs of juice and only 4.4oz of dry pulp. It had issues with the fibery pineapple pulp and left beind 14.2oz of wet ish pulp inside the juicer. My twin gear didn't have this issue. HOWEVER The motor in this thing is a beast. It kept chugging and never seemed to miss a beat regardless of how much fibrous pulp was clogging it. More or less unkillable and dirt simple to operate. The cleanup is where this thing shines. In under 3 minutes I'm able to tear it down, scrub out the screens, wash the containers, and have it on the drying racks ready for another round of juicing. My twin gear required about 15 mins to clean it. In conclusion, I'll take the limitations of it being able to completely extract every last bit of excessively fibrous fruit in exchange of the tiny footprint and super fast cleanup time. It's a great little machine and if you understand the limitations of the design and work within them, I think you'll be more than impressed. ... show more

  • It's good
Size: Green
Ok, so I make juices a lot. This gave me a good bit of juice from the fruits and vegetables that I put in it however I still have to use my blender for more fibrous things and I really feel that I have a less tedious job if I do it all in the blender.
