  • Freedom to zoom around
Style: Black Size: Right Joystick
This gives an elderly person freedom to move around in Assisted Living location. Comment was the “clicking “ when engaging the wheelchair in any direction seems loud. Comfortable for a short elderly person. Best feature that was sought out in shopping for an electric wheelchair was the special foot rest that swings backwards for standing up. Have not used outside the facility so cannot speak about ease of getting around on anything but pavement or carpeting. Have not folded it up to go in a vehicle, but driver thinks it will work nicely for this as it folds more like a stroller than a regular wheelchair. ... show more

  • Repair services not available
Style: Blue Size: Right Joystick
I’ve owned my chair for 23 months. Have been satisfied for most of that time. However, I now have a real problem with the right brake not holding when I need to transfer. For the last months I have been in fear of falling. I finally figured out how to contact customer service. They gave me repair Company name but that company hasn’t responded to my written request. I will purchase another joystick chair but it WILL NOT be a Zoomer. ... show more

  • Easy to use
Style: Blue Size: Right Joystick
This is my first motorized wheelchair. I like that it is easy to maneuver. The chair is comfortable to sit in because of the high back. The footrest pushes back so I feel safe getting in and out of the chair. I did a lot of research before buying this chair and I am very pleased with it.

  • Fantastic product, my wheelchair-bound grandmother prefers this over the other brands.
Style: Black Size: Right Joystick
My grandmother is disabled and taking her out is always a hassle because we would always have to roll her around everywhere we go and while it's not the end of the world, we do want her to be more independent and not have to rely on us having to stroll her in every direction. This electric 'wheelchair' does exactly that. When we take her out to the mall and park, she's a lot more independent. The controls are very simple, responsive, and easy to follow. I say responsive because she doesn't exactly have the best eyesight but it's good enough to where she can react quick enough and by contrast, the controls are responsive as well. The range seems accurate. I haven't actually timed it but it does go farther than an average person would while using a wheelchair. My favorite is the portability factor. I have a sedan and so do most of my family and this electric wheelchair fits perfectly with enough space to put some other stuff such as groceries. It folds quite easily and isn't too much of a hassle to remove. Wish it was lighter but I can understand why it also isn't. Only used this for a few months so I can't know for sure if it will hold up (the battery). Hopefully it does but it gets an A+ from me. We find ourselves using the manual wheelchairs less often because we want her to be more independent while outside. She prefers the electric as well. ... show more

  • The Zoomer works great with Hospice
Style: Blue Size: Right Joystick
The media could not be loaded. I like the fact that it can form a transportation across the wooden floors of our house and outside. Hey carpenter build ramps with a minimum of 10° on the outside so I can go to the barn and back. I am a family physician and delivered 4000 babies And did 1000 C-sections. I made 30 trips to Central America primarily to Honduras helping the needy. Now I am in Hospice and confined to my house. I don’t drive. My wife of 57 years does all of our driving. I love the Zoomer and it is a very important part of my transportation. ... show more

  • Battery charging. Poor design
Style: Black Size: Right Joystick
Overall chair appears solid HOWEVER if you intend to use this mostly out of your home amd keep it on your car BE AWARE that you must lug the entire chair unit @ 50 lbs to an outlet in order to charge the battery, as there is no option just to simply remove the battery itself and charge it inside your home. What a hassle! It needs to be re engineered to be truly MOBILE!! ... show more

Style: Blue Size: Right Joystick
I bought one last year in blue at a local DME shop in my area, and this thing is slick! Super easy to control and transport. Turns almost on a dime. Super high quality. Highly recommended.

  • Impressive engineering and well-designed portable folding wheel chair
Style: Blue Size: Right Joystick
This is a review for a blue Zoomer Power Folding Chair. The chair arrived in a large cardboard box and was well-packaged/padded. Included was the chair, a battery, a small underset storage basket, a joystick controller with mounting hardware, an AC charging adapter, and instruction manual. The chair was already assembled with the exception of having to mount and attach the joystick controller. The controller was super easy to mount. There are just two screws to mount the controller, and then you plug in the cable from the chair to the controller (the connection is secured by a screw-in connector). They even included the necessary allen key (hexagon headed screws) so you don't have to get out a.toolbox! Also included were spare cable mounting clips in case you wanted to route the cables for a left-hand joystick (it comes prewired for right-hand use). The battery was almost fully charged when it came. Installation was very easy and intuitive; you just have to slide the battery into place and then close the clips that hold it in place. Once the battery is installed, you won't have to remove it for future charging or anything. Charging the battery is done by plugging the AC adapter into a port under the joystick controller. The overall "assembly" time took about 15 minutes, including time for me to look over the manual and make sure I understood what to do. The actual time for screwing in two mounting screws, connecting the cables, and installing the battery was maybe 5 minutes? It was fast! Folding the chair is very simple. There is a cable that you pull to release the locking mechanism for the chair. It is similar to folding up a large baby stroller. One pull to disengage the locks and the chair will fold flat. The locks will click into place again to make sure the chair stays in a locked configuration. When you want to use the chair, a pull on the cable will disengage the locks and the chair can then be unfolded into the chair configuration. The chair has several impressive design features. One is that there is a mag-safe cable that connects the controller to the battery. This cable will automatically disengage when you fold up the chair (the process of folding the chair will disengage the connection to the battery). This is brilliant because then there is no chance for the the chair to turn on while folded. (I imagine the case where the chair was in a trunk of a car, and you set bags of groceries on top of it, and the groceries push the on button and are leaning against the joystick or something). One you unfold the chair to use it, re-engaging this one wire close to the battery is so simple since you don't have to screw anything or push anything. You barely have to align it, and it just clicks together because of the magnets! Another well-designed feature is the small basket under the seat. Because it is centrally located, you can load the basket up and it won't change the center of gravity too much. If anything, it will add stability to the chair since it lowers the center of mass! The basket is very small so it will not hold much, but it is nice for holding a purse or some water bottles. The chair has a footrest that swings a bit. The nice design feature of this footrest is that it will swing back out of the way when the user is about to stand up or sit down. It is very convenient to just push the footrest back with your feet to get it out of the way. Also, there are two small stabilizer wheels to prevent the chair from tipping backwards. When the chair is folded up, these same wheels make it easy to move the folded chair around (like wheeled luggage). I found operating the chair to be very easy and intuitive. Once you unfold the chair, you have to extend the two small stabilizer wheels (to prevent backward tipping). Then you push a button on the controller to power it on, and the chair is ready to go. There are buttons to increase/decrease the speed, as well as a button for a horn on the controller. Pushing the joystick forward will make the chair move forward, pulling it back will make the chair reverse. The chair will turn side to side by pushing the joystick to the sides. If you continually push the joystick to the right, the chair will smoothly spin around in a circle. The turning radius is impressively tight! The chair is well-built and feels very solidly constructed. The fit and finish of the parts is very well done, and it doesn't feel flimsy or cheap at all. Some caveats: - The user for this chair needs to have some fine motor control to operate the joystick. The joystick is very responsive/sensitive, and the chair will stop suddenly if the joystick is quickly released so it does take a small amount of practice to be able to have a smooth start/stop. - While the chair is easy to fold and unfold for someone younger and healthy, it would be difficult for a person with mobility issues to unfold/fold the chair. This is mostly because you have to be able to bend/squat down to reach close to ground level to extend/retract the stabilizer wheels. - The chair with battery is pretty heavy (about 50 lbs), so there is no easy way for someone with limited strength to be able to move the chair into and out of a vehicle by themselves. You would need to get a heavy-duty blanket/pad to protect the vehicle, and then lever/slide the chair into the trunk. - The chair only handles mostly flat ground (no steep hills). It does not perform very well going on grass or dirt trails. You can not use it to go up and down stairs, and you have to be very careful when navigating ramps. - The chair is not to be used in rainy/snowy/wet conditions. I think the best usage scenario for the chair is for someone who can still walk, but maybe not for extended distances. For example, a senior citizen going to a large theme park where walking miles of pavement would be a challenge. Wheeling around a large college campus. Getting from a large stadium parking lot in to a sports stadium. Even going around a large store like a Costco warehouse, or getting around a shopping mall. This chair is not meant to take the place of a more permanent/heavy-duty powered wheel chair. It is a lightweight and convenient solution for a more limited set of usage cases. Overall, I think this chair is great if you have a caregiver for the user to help set it up and transport it. It is quick to set up, easy to transport in a regular car, and very simple to use! ... show more
