  • This is the travel guitar you have been looking for
Size: Collapsible Acoustic/Electric Overhead Gu... Color: Dark Brown
I have been looking on and off for years for a travel ACOUSTIC guitar that I could fly with easily. Not necessarily to perform with, but to maintain my ability to practice when away from my home guitar for extended periods. This guitar absolutely fits the bill for that need. It's not overly expensive, it packs in an overhead with no space concerns regardless of the plane size and most importantly, plays like a TRADITIONAL acoustic guitar. The setup and packing is super easy, the playability is very nice, and the sound isn't as good as my home higher quality guitar, but definitely not offending. (And the mid-range is actually exceptionally good.) This model has a standard scale with the 12th fret fully reachable, comes with a pickup if you did want to plug in and get an improved tone, and a slightly smaller body that is quite comfortable even for me (I'm tall). The beveled body definitely contributes to that. I play primarily fingerstyle guitar so the alternate lower bridge works quite well thought I may shave just a smidge off. Neck quality is quite good, on the wider sided and a little thicker than some, but nothing that impacts playability. Once snapped together the guitar holds it's tune quite well due to the quality tuners. Aesthetically it's quite good and comes in whatever wood stain you would like. I'm and engineer and the carry case and packing is very cool. If you are considering the Journey Puddle Hopper version I also tried that out but ended up returning it. It is even more travel friendly due to the smaller size and will fit underneath the seat, but it comes with a sacrifice in a shorter scale length and a big impact on sound quality. Still, if size is key and you don't play much lower in the neck it's still a good option. I decided to trade the small difference in size for better playability and sound. Sorry for the long review, but I wanted to provide a bit more info for the true guitarist out there that may have been on the same search as me. Good luck! ... show more

  • Great travel guitar
Size: Collapsible Acoustic Puddle Jumper Guitar Color: Natural Brown
Nobody knows you have a guitar while traveling. Nothing worse than carting a Full size guitar case around and strangers start asking is that a guitar, or oh you play guitar ? No I’m just carrying it around to make you ask me stupid questions

  • Great Idea, unfortunately it wasn't what I expected
Size: Collapsible Acoustic Puddle Jumper Guitar Color: Natural Brown
This is a super cool idea, I was super excited to get this as I travel a lot but unfortunately I didn't like the way it sounded. I had the acoustic only version and perhaps the electric acoustic would be better (as the reviews on those were very good) but the acoustic only one just kind of sounded like a cheap toy guitar or something which for $400 seems unacceptable to me. I do love the idea and the design is awesome. well done on their part for that!!! ... show more

  • Not a bad little guitar
Size: Collapsible Acoustic Puddle Jumper Guitar Color: Natural Brown
Don’t expect the sound or feel of a full size guitar. That said, it sounds pretty good for what it is. I purchased the puddle jumper with no electronics, but solid spruce top. Decent action after a small truss rod adjustment, works well at the beach or around a campfire. Easy to assemble/de-assemble and fit into backpack that fits under an airplane seat. A bit or room in pack for other carry on items. You can also put stuff inside the body while dis-assembled. Use caution as the nut can fall out while dis-assembled. Also seems to be hard on the strings so carry spares. The set screw on the locking wing nut also got loose and fell out - easy to put back in but don’t loose screw/wingnut/washer. They include an extra nut, allen key, and peg with the guitar which is nice. ... show more

  • Solid Guitar, Some Things to Consider
Size: Collapsible Acoustic/Electric Overhead Gu... Color: Dark Brown
As a disclaimer, this is actually the first guitar I've ever bought, my other guitars are old and have been given to me by friends. They sound good on their own but not as pristine as fresher ones, so keep this perspective in mind. Objectively, this is a solid 3/4 size guitar, and is very snug to someone who doesn't play with smaller guitars that much. It comes apart and goes back together just as advertised, and I had no issues with shipping (In fact, it might have been good timing because it actually got delivered a day after I ordered it!). Sound quality is great on its own, I have not messed around with the electric stuff because I don't play electric, I just play acoustic and needed something good to travel with. A few things to consider: I did notice that the action is a bit higher than I'd like with the bass strings, but it's certainly not unplayable - I played fingerstyle on a guitar with an absurdly high action for several years, only finding out I could change that *after* the fact, so it doesn't personally bother me that much. I haven't experimented with replacing the bridge that came with this to lower the action, so if I do I will update this review and explain how much it changed. Additionally, maybe it's just a noob who's been playing the same guitar for a long time, but the bass strings are definitely louder than the higher strings, maybe that's just my picking habit putting more force on those strings, but it's nothing I can't learn to control. The acoustics on this thing are super great, and I love the richness of the sound despite it not being as rich as a full sized guitar. All in all, buy this guitar if you plan to travel. Really the biggest thing to keep in mind is the higher action on the lower strings, but again, it's still so easily playable and I don't find it impeding. ... show more

  • Exactly what I needed for touring solo
Size: Collapsible Acoustic Puddle Jumper Guitar Color: Natural Brown
I was skeptical at first when I received the item it looked beautiful, but I was still wondering how is this going to work? I snapped the neck on according to the instructions and tightened it up, and I was astonished to find that it was just about still in tune. That was incredible. I needed it in time to travel to Austin, Texas for some performances and the guitar played beautifully. I was able to take it on the plane without checking it. My advice to all musicians is do it. ... show more
