The "black" is actually a very dark navy color but it's very pleasant. The design of these is so convenient. The quality is great and will take plenty of abuse. I have this one and the slim gray one and it's made laundry infinitely faster and easier. It's best to get those mesh foldable baskets for taking the finished laundry out tho. The bag design is not manageable for taking the laundry out of the dryer and the tote they sell is too bulky and gets dirty too fast with no easy way to clean. (Not to mention very pricey for a product that doesn't neatly fold up) These baskets are definitely worth the money. Even moreso if you get them on sale for $60-$80. Only improvement would be to move the lid handle from the center to somewhere less obtrusive so that the surface is more usable. Construction is a little tedious, but once you turn tighten the spokes with the Allen wrench, the fabric is taut as a drum. I was shocked. I'm glad the black is actually a deep navy; it's aesthetically a huge upgrade. The laundry bags, and the way they are designed to fit in, and be easily lifted out, is way too good for this price point. I love that I don't need to pre-sort my laundry before walking to the apartment wash room. I just open up the lid, grab the blue straps, and I'm good to go. ... show more

My one and only issue with this product (-1 star) is that the color is listed as Black. I would have to say it looks like a dark grey color with an ever so slight blue tint. It looks especially more blue with the grey lid removed because the inner plastic is blue for some reason and not the same grey color as the lid. It still looks great. ——————————————— Before buying I saw there were a lot of reviews complaining about how difficult it was to assemble and it had me worried. I think it took me a grand total of 20 minutes to put this basket together. I included photos of the directions that were included with my basket as well, which I felt were pretty self explanatory. If you have any ability to assemble simple things or have been to an IKEA in the past decade, this laundry basket will pose a very small challenge for you. The steps are as follows: Step 1: Screw the four posts into the top. Step 2: Slide on the outer cover. (make sure to orient the logo correctly) Step 3: Place the plastic base ring onto posts. Step 4: Pull outer cover over the outer diameter area of the top & base so there is about an inch of cover overhang on the top and bottom. Fold it over and tuck the bottom "lip" into the groove. (It is a snug fit to pull the outer cover around the top and the base ring but not that difficult) Step 5: Flip it over. Step 6: Tuck the "lip" of the outer cover into the groove on the top. (I included photos of this "lip" or "top edge" sliding into the groove at the top of the basket. This step seemed to be the most difficult aspect for many people, but I had no issues folding this lip over and guiding it into the groove.) Step 7: Flip it over. Step 8: Tighten the posts on the base with the supplied Allen Key. (L shaped tool) (btw this causes the inner posts to elongate slightly, stretching the outer shell taught) Step 9: Place rubber foot pads into the slots on the base. Step 10: Attach the velcrow bags to the inner bag rings Step 11: Flip It! Step 12: Place the bags into the top and put on the lid. That's it. I saw one review saying you needed to remove the velcrow on the bags from the top bag rings they are attached to each time you pull out one of the laundry bags, but I would never do this. You can just take the bag out along with the plastic ring it is attached to and keep them together. The only time I would remove the bags from the ring is if I needed to wash them. ——————————————— I was also hesitant to purchase this laundry basket because a few people had broken theirs. This laundry basket probably wouldn't hold up very well to say... a child climbing on top of it. It's not super robust, but I can't imagine it breaking from just having laundry placed inside of it. If something happens to this laundry basket in the future I will update my review, otherwise you can assume that all is well in the land of laundry baskets. Side Note: My laundry basket was shipped in the box with the box art, not just in a plain cardboard box. Once finally assembled, it looks great and functions as expected. I have it now about 2 months and nothing but great things to say for it. As the headline says, putting it together is a bit of challenge. getting the outer shell to fit into the groove can be challenging. Although it can be assembled with one person, I had to have daughter help me a little bit with it. It's pretty stylish looking and stands about 3-4 inches taller than our previous laundry bin. $100 is a bit pricey, but it functions and looks good. ... show more
