Description

36mm Jiffy 7 Peat Pellets are a consistent seed starting medium that is optimized for propagation and root development. Jiffy Pellets are the convenient, no-mess way to start flower and vegetable seeds and cuttings. Just add water - pellets expand to form pot and soil in one. Transplant directly into the ground or larger containers minimizing transplant shock and root damage. Jiffy-7 Pellets are manufactured from sphagnum peat (and Coir fibers) harvested from carefully selected bogs which are subjected to stringent internal and governmental inspection. This pellet is a 36 mm and will expand 1.50 inch x 1.50.

I have used these for a few years now. I can not start seeds without the pods. They are easy to use and convenient. Put them in a tray or dish with sides. What ever size you need for the number of pods used. Fill partially with warm water. Let the pods absorb the water until completely saturated. Gently open the top. ( I pinch around the top to open and fluff the dirt. ) If adding one seed just drop in the middle. I normally add two or three seeds to one pod. Cover your container. I have a container that has a clear plastic lid and another one I cover with plastic wrap. Keep covered and moist , warm, & in some sun until seeds sprout then keep uncovered. Again, keep moist. Once plants start looking hardy and have about five leaves , transplant. If you only used one pod, plant the whole pod just loosen up the bottom some roots will grow through Or you can remove pod casing. I have done both. If you had success with two or three seeds in one pod you can simply pull the pod apart to separate your seedlings. I rarely have a pod not produce HAPPY PLANTING! ... show more

My husband and I like to have vegetable and flower gardens, along with potted displays, and we began starting our own seeds indoors several years ago. I think this was an excellent value for the price I paid, and I like having some stored ahead of when I will actually use them. I start plants year round to freshen up the flowers and pots, and I would much rather do this than purchase flowers for each season. Everything in this listing, title and description, indicates that these are genuine Jiffy refills. They are not. I've included a picture of what these look like compared to Jiffy before being hydrated. Not only do they look different, they don't work the same. Jiffy has a biodegradable fabric on theirs while these have a plasticy mesh. When Jiffys hydrate, they have a nice hole for you to drop the seed in. When these hydrate they just become a ball of mud. Hydrated Jiffys are also cohesive and spongy. These, again, are just a ball of mud that falls apart if not for the net holding them together. They're cheaper than Jiffy and I maybe would've kept them as the disadvantages compared to Jiffy are not huge, but due to the dishonest listing that tries to pass these off as Jiffy brand, I'm returning these for a refund and letting Amazon know that these are counterfeit. ... show more

I have used these from another supplier and these are cheaper and work well. I start seeds early and plant out when the Colorado weather is warmer. Some seeds work well but others not. My snap peas were excellent. I will buy these again from Amazon

I bought a seed starter kit last year with a heating pad and grow light, but needed replacement for previously used starter pellets. These are a perfect fit in the tray and should serve the purpose for another year of seed starting. Good item.
