  • Highly recommended.
My wife’s vehicle is the 2016 Acura MDX with the standard sound system: 1 Subwoofer in the back, 2 rear door speakers, 2 front door speakers, 2 tweeters at the pillar by the windshield and 1 center speaker at the center of the front dash. We have this vehicle for 4 years but I rarely drive it until a month ago, when my car was in the shop for a week. I noticed that the sound is decent when the vehicle is not moving but not too good with road noise and the clarity is gone. Setting the treble control (on the head unit) to more than 75% (of the range) only make it worst with too much treble. Crank up the bass control causes the sound muddy. I started listen with only the front, then the rear speakers. The volume of the rear speakers is lower than the front, mainly with mid and muddy bass. I removed 1 of them to inspect it and understood why. It is a full range speaker with the whole frame in plastic (yes, metal at all), the speaker is very light. I noticed the stamping on the frame indicates the impedance is 2 Ohm. With this information, I started searching for replacement speakers that can improve the sound, starting with the 2 rear speakers. My first place to shop for car’s speaker was Crutchfield. To my surprise, it doesn’t carry any 2 Ohm speakers. Since I keep the head unit, replacing the 2 Ohm stock speakers with 4 Ohm aftermarket will reduce the volume which reduces the bass. With the subwoofer is on the same signal line of the rear door speakers, I don’t know how it will behave if the impedance of the rear speakers changed. On the Crutchfield page, I found this 2 Ohm JBL speakers but according to the service rep, this model has been discontinued so I couldn’t order them. Not give up yet, I search on Amazon and find it still available here so I order 1 pair. Replacing the stock speakers is not too bad, the most difficult part is drilling 4 new holes into the metal of the doors so the JBL speakers and the plastic adapter plates (came with the speakers) can be mounted. I also ordered the wiring adapter so connecting the new speakers and the vehicle harness was a snap. After 1 new speaker was installed, I compared the new vs the stock speaker. The different was day and night. The new JBL produced clean high with tight bass and clear voice. The stock speaker was mostly upper bass and mid range, the overall sound was muddy. Another good thing was the volume remains the same between 2 speakers. After the 2nd new speaker was installed, I listened with the rear speakers only. The music was really gooooood (yes, it was that good). I slowly faded in the front speakers and the muddy sound started pouring in. I then compared the front speakers only and the new rear speakers and again, the different was day and night. I knew I need to replace the front door speakers so I ordered another pair. The wiring adapter I ordered came with 4 pairs so I can use the left over for the new front door speakers. Attached are the side by side pictures of the JBL and the stock speakers. ... show more

  • Solid upgrade from factory
Bought these and matching 6x9's to upgrade my old premium sound speakers in my car. These especially the 6x9's are much clearer and sound really good on the cars stock amp. Theyre just a solid upgrade from factory speakers on stock stereo. They are 2 ohm speakers which matches many stock head units, but are unfortunately 90 db. The matching 6x9's I bought were 94 db which actually make them play louder with the same amount of power. I thought these were advertised as a higher db, but was suprised to see they were not. Just keep that in mind when matching speakers as it can throw off soundstage. Anyways these make upgrading worth it with their clarity and sound ... show more

  • DECENT SPEAKER
Product is worth the $65. However I prefer the pioneer DST-1602R but they are discontinued. The bass is decent and can handle to be loud. The overall quality is good and is a recommended buy for a good door speaker upgrade.

  • Fantastic speakers!!
Fantastic sounding speakers at a great price! JBL speakers are second to none and I can't believe that i was able to purchase them for such a low price. I'm sure that JBL makes a more expensive speaker, But for my money i'm extremely satisfied!! I have JBL speakers in my home and office and the sound is crisp and clear and I've had them for years. Now I can have quality sound in my UTV. ... show more

  • Corvette C5 upgrade, yes these are the ones, along with the 3.5s
Recently bought a C5 coupe. While the stock Bose is decent. I saw a whole thread on the Corvette forums that recommends these 6.5s and front 3.5s. Yep, these and the 3.5s up front absolutely awesome, huge difference! More base, more treble, just completely made the Bose system sound great for stock. Also I read that the front 3.5s had reverse polarity, YES definitely. I tested the stock front 3.5s and polarity is definitely reversed, so make sure you observe that. The rear stock rears the polarity is nominal. Also just want to mention the rear speakers ARE full range. I had read the the Bose system only sends low frequency to the front woofers. I put in a test cd with all the low frequencies, and the rears wear definitely playing them. I only mention this, because if you are going to add a sub and use high levels, you can tap the rears. This saved me some work, because I was just going to tap the front subs. Hope this helps. ... show more

  • Perfect upgrade to replace C5 Corvette coupe rear speakers ....works with the Bose.
You’ll want the Metra 72-4568 connection kit to make these plug and play. They bolt right in and are the correct impedance for the Bose. Combine them with JBL GX302’s up front to replace the small door speakers (while retaining the Bose amplified door woofers) and you have a big upgrade in sound for the money. The toughest part was getting at the top mounting bolt. If decide to do the do the front door speakers as well you will not need another connection kit for those .....***But...the Bose large and small push connectors are reverse polarity so you need to swap those around. Thats just on the front door speakers. (GX302). On these rears the Metra kit makes them plug and play. The GX302’s up front made the biggest difference If you had to choose. With these JBL fronts and backs together the old Bose system sounds so much better with improved clarity and radically less distortion at high volume levels. Solid upgrade for the cash if you just want good sound while retaining the stock Bose. ... show more

  • Good but need to add a sub and they’re much better!
Good speaker but I purchased the touring series as well and the fidelity of these were by far inferior to the touring series. If you have a separate sub these sound great they just lack the punch you get from the next step up. Look great and plenty of mounting adapters are included. For the price, they’re a great choice ... show more
