First of all, thank you CNZ Audio for having a left-handed bass in stock at all. The fact that it's so handsome and sounds so nice and was such a fantastic price really beggars belief. When I saw the company is from Ohio I was overjoyed (I even called their support line; it was an answering machine but a real human recorded the message). I thought maybe I'd found an unknown American manufacturer, but alas the guitar arrived with a tiny "Made In China" sticker on it. BUT, that is not an awful thing-- good products can come from anywhere. I took the guitar to a tech I trust, also a bass player and afficianado. It required minimal setup (not even truss adjustment, just action and intonation) and he was impressed with the build. If his hypothesis is right, CNZ have done some real fancy footwork with their sourcing. Regardless of where it came from, the upshot is this: for the first time, I feel like I got a LOT more than I paid for in a guitar. The instrument and the service both made me a fan of the company: I got a hand-written note (!) on my invoice saying thank you, and they hoped I would enjoy the bass. I do, and think I will continue to for a long time. UPDATE (Aug 2024): Life happens. You put down the instrument a while. Six, twelve months go by. Then one day you hear "Rasputin" by Bongo M and you have to pick it up again. And you expect to have to at least tune it after you wipe the dust off. Y'all, it was PERFECTLY in tune. It's gone through several seasons in my (pretty comfortable) basement, and it sounds as good as when I put it down. I stand by my words, I'm impressed. ... show more

Before I owned a Squier jazz bass I thought this was great After getting a Squier I realized this thing sucks lol , spend a little more and get a real bass Not recommended

I wanted a passive 5 string for recording, and for a show I have coming up, and heard good things about this bass... so I ordered it. I was given an arrival date on a Friday. That Friday came, and it was still in Ohio... I'm in Vermont. It arrived Monday. Damaged. However, it feels and plays great. It sounds good plugged in. It's everything I was looking for. So I'll probably keep it. But still... late and damaged. If it weren't actually an awesome bass, it would have gotten 2 stars and a return. ... show more

A short review of the CNZ 1975 Jazz. I have a lot of lower end Basses and was looking for a short scale bass so being a local company I bought one of their shorties and was impressed by the sound, feel and build quality so after a bit of thought I dropped a dime on this fine feller. I had high expectations and boy did they deliver...I cant find one thing I dont like about this bass ...Not one at all....It has some heft , the bindings are beautiful and the inlays sharp. I love the sound if the P/U s and the whole thing just has a solid classical feel...I'd say overall I give it two high fives..... I think you will be as impressed as I am with this fine example of a classic Bass guitar. ... show more

What I like about this bass, was the looks, playability, great sounds of the pickups, and the fill of the neck which felt just as good as any fender that I've played. I would proudly gig with this bass at any venue. I was very surprised just how well it sound, and very playable. I would buy that again in a heartbeat. Well, well worth the price. ... show more

I have owned 50 plus basses I can’t believe the amount of quality workmanship and materials. Alder body Maple neck… I changed the strings to flat wound and without plugging it in sounded like my $2600 fender jb CNZ Audio are doing one of the best jobs manufacturing in China. I tried to find a reason to return is because it was made in China. I’m keeping it for our employees to play on break. They said it looks like a $1500 Bass and they are buying from CNZ Audio for their family . They were very impressed ordering on the spot from CNZ Audio .. You can’t find a better beginner instrument I have been playing the guitar , drums and bass for 45 yrs ... show more

I put a real Fender high mass 72mm bridge on and the Aguilar J5-HC split coil humbuckers in and this is about as good as any 5 string J. I’ve had Sadowsky and Lakland and I don’t think I’m missing much with this cheaper Yusheng clone. Big and heavy with a wide neck toward the join, but deep tones. The body is a bit peachy colored, like the article photos, the main photos it looks greenish but what I got was reddish. You may or may not like that aspect.
