If you plan on using these headphone to watch videos at all do NOT buy them. They have a 2 second lag when it comes to the audio and video sync. It’s EXTREMELY annoying and I’ve talked to customer support about this multiple times. I’ve gone through 3 pairs of Jaybird runs and two pairs of XT just to make sure that it wasn’t a bad set. I’m not the only one with this problem and Jaybird said that with the the way technology is now there is no way for them to get rid of the lag because the sound sync to the right bud and then transmits to the left bud. And that takes time and causes a lag. Jaybird should say on their website that these headphones are only good for listening to music. Which they are. No complaints there. But the video audio lag has turned me away from using Jaybird ever again. I was hoping they fixed this problem with the XT’s but they didn’t. I have had several different Jaybird earbuds over the years. I always stayed away from the "cordless" style because I though they would fall out and get lost easily and 2) have weak battery life (just how much battery can you stuff into something that WILL stay in your ears and not cause fatigue?) More than any of the other Jaybird offerings, these are tailored for one thing: running. More specifically, runners who don't want a cord bouncing around behind their heads. Is the lack of a cord worth a premium price? I guess that's up to you. I have to say that I am impressed with the fit. I have tried different combinations of the fins and tips and found a set that works for me. I have run for many hours and have not had a problem with them falling out (except when I was messing with the smallest size to see if I "ear fatigue" would be less and I could run longer with them in). Overall, they are more comfortable and secure than I thought they would be. For initial setup, you basically take them out of the case, connect using BT from your phone and go. You can use the app for tweaking settings, getting How-To help and accessing the manuals. As far as battery life, in my 30-120 minute long runs, I have had no problems (usually around 80% charge after an hour run). With a reported 4-hour life per full charge, I don't think I'll have an issue until I decide to run a marathon. NOTE: I am not a fan of the marketing statement that these buds have "12-hour playtime" (you have to take them out and put them into the case to charge them! That may give extra "playtime," but it is definitely not "continuous use" time. That is ~4 hours, x 3 (the initial charge plus 2 recharge cycles, but there is downtime while the buds charge up). To mitigate that, you do get an hour of playtime from a mere 5 minute stay in the charging case. To get the full 4 hours back from 0%, though, may take 2 hours. That said, I do like that I can charge up the case, take it with me on a trip, and get constant recharges. I've been on the road for a week and a half and each time I go to use the buds, they're at 100%, which is nice: not having to even think about that. Also nice is the automatic on/off when you take them out of or put them back into the case. The case is not too large, but not too small, either. It is solid and I feel it gives a good amount of protection to the buds (it is NOT waterproof, though, so be aware). As for features, these do seem about the same as the other Jaybird buds. One thing I noticed is that the voice prompts are only offered in US English. Even the Tarah has the option to switch into various languages: Japanese, Mandarin, Spanish, UK English, to name just a few. While that's not a big deal for me, it seemed odd and worth a note if you use a different language. Like other Jaybird buds, you can load a preset equalizer template (or search for, download popular ones) and you can alter the function of the buttons (do you want to kick off Siri/Google Assist or be able to adjust your volume?) ... but that is about it. Something else of note: as far as I can tell, they don't support multi-point connectivity: I had to turn off Bluetooth on my phone to be able to connect them to my tablet. Based on some other reviews, I *had* to test watching a video. I noticed some delay when connecting them to my tablet and trying to watch a movie, but not much on my phone. It wasn't that bad for me, but it was still noticeable *sometimes* -- like watching a movie that has been dubbed. It is possible that I have a newer firmware on my buds that addresses the issue since I never saw anything close to a 2-second delay. I didn't get these to use for watching movies, so that doesn't really bother me, but it is good to know. Because of the automatic on feature, using a single bud (got to be the Right) is a little confusing. As far as I can tell, you pull both buds out and let them connect, then hold down one of the buttons, which turns BOTH buds off. You then hold down the button on the right bud to turn only it on. This way, you can run without the left bud and have the benefits of both listening to music and awareness of your surroundings. That seems a bit cumbersome. For what it is worth, I have noticed that the right bud's battery drains faster than the left, probably a result of it being the master bud. Having become accustomed to the Freedom and Tarah buttons on the cord, I find the buttons on the buds to be a bit cumbersome. I usually end up shoving the bud further into my ear when I am trying to activate the button. That can be a little painful and require removal and re-insertion mid-run. Maybe that's just me and it will go away with practice as I get a better feel for where the buttons are located on the buds. I have been running with these pretty much every day for the past month, including in the rain. Things usually work great. However, I have experienced the sound cutting out periodically. It doesn't seem to be a "position" issue -- Jaybird recommends that you situate your phone closer to the right side than the left since the phone connects to the right "master" bud. I have always worn my phone in a belt at my waist and adjusting that to be more "right" didn't correct the issue. It hasn't happened very often (yet?). Due to the automatic charging, my buds always start at 100% charge when I begin a run, so I don't think it is a charge issue, either. It seems others have experienced the same. Maybe a firmware update will fix it? There are things that I really like about these buds (small size, automatic charging, durable case), but my go-to at home may still be my Freedoms (at least until I decide to try the Tarah Pros, which look like they may be an evolution down the path that I tend to favor for my running buds.) You can use this headphones for working out (gym, running) and you will be very pleased, however if you want to use them to watch something then it's a waste of money. Very noticeable delay on sound and video. Buy them if you have another set of headphones for video watching and you are looking something for work out ... show more

Just a heads up to Jaybird Run 1st Gen owners: if you're looking to get a performance upgrade (sound quality, battery life, connection speed) with these XTs you'll be disappointed. I've tried these out soon as they came out at a local best buy and compared them with the 1st gen and they're exactly the same 🤦♂️ (except the waterproofing and new colors of course). Im really disappointed Jaybirds didn't take the time since 2017 to really improve their headsets 😔 ... show more

I've been using blue tooth sports headphones for 19 years. Always for running and cycling. I was so excited to get these until I tried them on. I wasn't even running and just by walking, they kept falling off my ears!! I tried all the combinations of earbuds/fins possible until my ears hurt. The weight of the headphones is a bit too much for my ears to handle. I ended up returning them. I got the Tarah Pro instead. They fit me right away. ... show more
