This island was the perfect size for my small townhouse kitchen. There are a lot of parts & took a while to put together, but the parts are well made and went together with no problems. Very nice product. Instructions could be more clear. Check and inspect to make sure all pieces are accounted for and watch lettering on hardware packages. Took about 4 hours for 2 people but it's really nice and sturdy.

This island has good quality considering the price and comparing it with other things that I have bought around the same price in Amazon - that did not have good quality. Before buying it I read on the comments that the instructions were a bit tricky. But I think they were pretty easy to follow, they is one word misspelled but nothing that common sense cannot understand. You will definitely need a tool with silicone handle to make the ensemble easier. It took me around 3 hours to put it together but pretty standard timing for an item like this. ... show more

If you flipped through photos and found yourself hesitant to order this: let me address a few things. Scary review claim 1: the backboard is attached with visible crappy looking tape on the back. After putting this together - the tape isn’t meant to be visible. For whatever reason, that reviewer made the choice to place the taped side facing outwards. The solution? Flip it inwards to hide the tape. Yes, one piece would’ve been wonderful. But there’s not any instance where the pieces are at risk of separating unless you’re tossing this thing down stairs or something ridiculous. Scary review claim 2: the screws “too short”. No, they’re not. They have to be a certain length to avoid penetrating the board fully. That photo is the result of severely over tightening until the mdf is chewed up with nothing left to grip to. Use some common sense, and this is not an issue. Scary review claim 3: the screws aren’t labeled. Unsure if something changed, but my parts were absolutely labeled. There was one package I was confused about (I think it read as “DI” while everything else read as a single letter…basically that one little package marked with two letters has two fasteners both “D” and “I”. I’ve built my share of boxed furniture, and this piece did impress me overall. It’s obviously not super solid and it’s not flawless - but I’m pretty dang happy with it. Pros: exact replica of my apartment kitchen cabinets including hardware, excluding wooden top of course. Perfect size for small kitchen to add more counter space without having to rent a more expensive unit. Can be moved around easily. Cons: See title. I started at 9:30 am expecting to be done by lunch. I worked nonstop & finished at 2:30 pm—that’s 5 hours. A couple reasons for this: 1.) the directions need to be rewritten. There is absolutely a better flow to putting this unit together than the order the directions are written in. 2.) The long screws provided had a top head you could only use the little hex key/Allen key. Because of the order of assembly in the instructions, your hex key would interfere with pieces already in place no matter which way too spun it, so you’re stuck doing short strokes for 3/4 of the assembly. Lastly I felt it was pretty flimsy wood & I was nervous about cracking it, and the visible screw heads are a major design flaw. - the stickers to cover/hide the bolts are tacky looking & not an exact color match. Other notes: • Both my back panels came with two holes on both sides. Instructions didn’t show this was supposed to be the case so I got a mix up. I hid them with the stickers, but this leaves me not wanting to do anything with the unit except have it against the wall. • I wish it came with another shelf. There’s plenty of room. Plus, the existing shelf security is questionable. • I had delivery issues & lugging the box from mailroom to car to apartment was actually difficult. If the shipping box had a handle or grip that struggle could be resolved. I had to take it apart piece by piece in my vestibule. Worth $200? Maybe if assembly was cut in half. We have a small kitchen with not a lot of storage space. This unit serves at least two purposes: It's great to sit at for breakfast or lunch, and it has a surprisingly large amount of storage space. As with most items, it was frustrating to assemble, but not the worst thing I have put together.
