  • Awesome for Fan-Fic Writers and RPers
This book is really quite fun and well worth the price. The printing is absolutely beautiful and there is a lot of hand-work put into it, considering all the extra pieces. It is full of little factoids that will absolutely delight Iron Man fans, particularly the writers and RPers. The whole thing is set up as a dossier by JARVIS aimed at Pepper, which makes for a cute perspective. I did find it lacking in the allies and enemies section, completely leaving out all of the Avengers (well, except Black Widow). I felt like they really missed an opportunity to look at these characters from a unique perspective. At the very least I felt like they should have included some information on Bruce Banner, seeing as he and Tony seem to be friends, but I can understand that the sheer amount of information might have seemed daunting. I wouldn't suggest this to someone looking for in-depth schematics or information on the technology. Though they picture and describe each of the suits, they are quite brief with the information. This is true of most things; for the most part this book only offers overviews. Because it is supposedly a digital presentation there would be the option for Pepper to read more in-depth, but, of course this isn't available in book format! It would be really interesting to see a digital version with more information, but the time and space necessary to expand so many different topics would be a phenomenal undertaking. Given the breadth of topics and the size of the book, I think that the authors / editors did a decent job of including interesting information. My favorite parts, by far, are the "extra" bits that are glued in. You get ticket stubs, schematics, a diary, and all sorts of interesting bits. These are just delightful for someone like me who likes to know as much as possible about each character. I feel like this book is well-worth the cost just for these extra pieces! ... show more

  • Great Book, Needs an Update
This book is one I’ve wanted for a REALLY long time, ever since I saw Iron Man 3, but I only got it just recently. Seeing all the suits and what they do as well as other cool information and in universe papers and pamphlets, all presented in a very engaging way, it’s hard not to go wrong. This book is pretty expensive but only covers up to Iron Man 3. Now that there has been a major phase of the MCU finished, that being Avengers: Endgame, I’d REALLY like to see an updated version of this book. ... show more

  • Very creative art/technical/scrapbook
I admit it. I had no clue what this book was going to be. I ordered it because I've loved the "Art of" books from Marvel and thought this would at least be fun. I wasn't wrong. So what is it? Something of an art book crossed with a technical manual with a dash of scrapbook thrown in for good measure. The book is split into seven sections: 1) Understanding Tony Stark, 2) Stark Industries: A History of Innovation, 3) The Forging of Iron Man, 4) The Mansion and the Workshop, 5) Weaponization: the Iron Man Armors, 6) Global Threats and 7) Mr. Stark's Allies. Like the "Art of" books, this manual has a lot of color photographs of locations, people and the armor. Where this book differs is that it's all presented as real. The photos are of Tony Stark, his home and workshop, etc. The book reads like a corporate dossier, as prepared by JARVIS. "Stark Industries" is printed on the cover (not Marvel!). Like a technical manual, there is a lot of detail on the armors - ALL OF THEM. There is at least a small pic and a blurb for each of the Iron Legion and larger exposes of Tony's main armors. It even goes into details regarding weaponization, gauntlet design, inside the helmet, etc. All referenced as real artifacts - not as concept for a film. There are fold-out pages, schematics, etc. But what really makes this book special is the scrapbook aspect. There are Post-It notes, memos, pamphlets, etc. "glued" in throughout the book. There is even a blue folder inserted (it is bound in) at the beginning which includes Christine Everhart's article on Tony, his notecards from the press conference, his business card, and pics! One Post-It is a reminder that he needs to come up with a "real name" for the element he discovered for the Nobel Committee to use. There are memos from SHIELD, including Black Widow's assessment, as well as a visitor badge to Stark Industries, and so much more. These are like little Easter eggs scattered throughout that make the book a lot of fun to go through. As a Loki fan, I was delighted to find the God of Mischief has a couple of pages under "Global Threats," right alongside Whiplash and Mandarin. The production values are excellent. Not only does the book have a red leather cover, with cloth spine, but it is smyth-sewn (not glued). This means the book lies open flat without damaging the spine. Very helpful for a "manual". There's no dust jacket, as befitting a technical manual, and the paper is thick and high quality. Full color glossy pages throughout - a truly beautiful book. Overall, I cannot recommend this enough to Marvel fans in general, but especially to fans of Iron Man. A truly unique book that is actually worth the retail price. Highly recommended! ... show more

  • I am Ironman-tony stark, ironman 1
plans for the arc reactor? check, ticket to stark expo? check. visiter security badge to stark industries? check! full color beautiful fold out page spreads? yep got those too. wonderfully written by the author from jarvis' perspective, includes brief dossiers on notable enemies, and allies(such as loki and black widow for examples) and did I mention the fold out pages? well done. please note this only covers ironman 1-3 and avengers 1 and does NOT cover avengers age of ultron which was released after this book's publication. recommendation? yes please, definitely for the ironman fan looking for hidden nuggets and or things missed. if you're looking for behind the scenes and production notes? then this book is not for you and you should avail yourself of the other titles out there that do cover such things. another notable find by the author would be this http://www.amazon.com/Essential-Guide-Droids-Star-Wars/dp/0345477596/ref=asap_bc?ie=UTF8 ... show more

  • Great book, but stops after Iron Man 3
Love this fun book, only wish would be for an updated edition. This covers the events through Iron Man 3, which was as far as the movies had gone at the time of publication, but I would love to see the rest of Iron Man’s journey documented in an updated edition. Hulkbuster suits, the Avengers compound, the nano tech suit, stark’s home from endgame, later war machine armors etc are all missing here, and it would be awesome to see about 50 more pages added to include those. ... show more
