Description

"I love Gotham, and it's time I paid her back."Set in a world where the Clown Prince of Crime has been cured of his madness, Batman: White Knight follows the man now known as Jack Napier as he embarks on a quest to heal the city he once terrorized. After reconiciling with his long-suffering partner, Harley Quinn, he sets in motion a carefully plotted campaign to discredit the one person whom he views as Gotham City's true enemy: Batman. His crusade exposes a decades-long history of corruption within the Gotham City Police Department and transforms Napier into a city councilman and civic hero. But when the sins of his past return to threaten everything that he has accomplished, the distinctions between savior and destroyer begin to break down for both the Joker and Batman alike—and with them any hope for Gotham's future. Superstar graphic novelist Sean Murphy delivers an extraordinary examination of comics' greatest antagonists in Batman: White Knight, exploring justice, corruption, activism, and the darkest depths of mental illness. This deluxe hardcover edition collects all eight issues of the acclaimed miniseries and features a special behind-the-scenes showcase of Murphy's character designs and preliminary artwork. • One of the best Batman stories, ever
I'm a huge Batman fan, and have been since I was a kid. I love the classic Batman comics, but I also like alternate-universe Batman stories that have interesting non-canon storylines. This one blew me out of the water. I actually did not know that Sean Murphy could also write great comics! I have loved his artwork in other things, like Tokyo Ghost and Chrononauts, but White Knight is by far the best thing he's ever created. The story is complex but clear, with great plot twists and awesome references. I love the character development and design. It's about time that the story finally lived up to his great artistic capabilities! I actually bought the paperback trade for this, but decided that I needed the hardback Deluxe edition for my favorite bookshelf. Can't wait for the sequel to come out in a trade! ... show more

  • Classic.
I don't buy a lot of modern comics any longer. However, this is one that everyone should read. It is an instant classic, and joins the rare Batman stories that stand the test of time, like the Dark Knight Returns and the Killing Joke. Great story & art of a - at least temporarily - redeemed Joker.

  • Thought-provoking and inspired
This “alternate universe” take on these characters do a great job diving in to Batman from the perspective of his foes, and show how flawed he is as a protagonist. The art is gorgeous

  • Beautiful art and story
The art itself is beautiful, and both the story and characters are great. Excellent mix of action and emotion, my favorite Batman comic to date. Physically, it arrived in great condition. No noticeable flaws.

  • Binding is same as paperback. Disappointing.
One of my favorite Batman Stories. Print is good, I like the larger size but the binding is the exact same as the paperback instead of premium binding. For the price it should come with better binding. It's the only reason I like hardcovers.

  • Who is worse for Gotham? Batman or Joker???
Sean Murphy does a great job writing and drawing Batman. This story goes in a lot of unexpected directions, is an enjoyable quick read, and doesn't require much context other than your basic knowledge of the characters. Great example of world and character building. Some of the pacing in places seems a bit rushed, but overall, it's top notch stuff. ... show more
