  • Would definitely recommend
Style: Roomba Y0140
I'm really glad I decided to get one of these! The suction is really good and leaves straight vacuum lines so your carpet always looks newly vacuumed.. the mop feature works well but it's not for super dirty floors..I basically moped my floor really good and after that it can maintain the clean. Would definitely recommend. ... show more

  • The right amount of robot
Style: Roomba 692
Our floors are much cleaner now that we run this machine every few days. Because we have it, we are mindful of cords, cat toys and other items on the floor that could tangle it up, so its presence also kind of enforces a level of tidiness. This machine does not learn quickly, it is not using satellites and cameras to map the shifting topography of our home, and I am happy with that. What it does is wander from room to room in an apparently random fashion, and it always finds dirt. It eventually seems to go over the entire floor. We have two cats who find it loud and unpleasant, but also fascinating. They stalk it from covert locations, calculating the balance of the predator/prey relationship. Someday, they may attack it, but if that happens, I think the Roomba will survive. Cons: Somewhat loud - It is as loud as a normal vacuum cleaner Needs supervision - It can't be left running home alone, because it gets stuck under furniture from time to time. It sometimes makes mistakes that could endanger its life. I block it from entering areas where it could fall off of a cliff, because in spite of the cliff detection feature, I think it might very well fall off a cliff if given the chance. Only one phone allowed - The phone app seems to allow for only one phone per user, so only one member of the household can command the vacuum from the phone app; not a big deal for me because I just push the button on the top of the Roomba and it takes off. Pros: It vacuums the house frequently. I am never going to do that. It has the work quality of maybe a ten year old who was asked to vacuum the house--but unlike a ten year old, it is persistent. The suction is good, it gets diirt out of deep rugs and it does well in the corners. It is able to get over thresholds and it is fine around our cat dishes- pushes them a little bit but then backs away. ... show more

  • It is decent for the price
Style: Roomba 692
I purchaed this vaccuum during Prime Days because I wanted to get a robot vaccuum for a decent price. I live in an 800 sq. ft. apartment which I would vaccuum about once a month because I don't track in much dirt. It was easy to setup and connected to my Android phone app just fine. I let it charge and started it up. It is louder than I thought it would be, but still much quieter than a traditional vaccuum. After reading the instructions, I realized that there was no way to "train" it or block off certain rooms or areas. That was my fault in my assumption that all robot vaccuums had that feature. It does run into objects a lot and doesn't have a good algorithm to change direction. It seems to go the same way and repeatedly bump into objects and then goes the same way. It gets stuck very easily as well. I have a thin rug in my kitchen and one of the edges is kind of bent up and it gets caught on that every time so I have to pick up the rug. It does clean well and I run it once a week and am amazed about how much dust and dirt accumulates in that time period. Also, even though I have it scheduled in the app, sometimes it starts early which is weird. Overall for $160 it is a decent product that saves me having to vaccuum by hand. ... show more

  • … canNOT compete with the ROBOROCK brand
Style: Roomba 692
A few years ago, I bought a low end model ROBOROCK during an Amazon sales day just as a first time experiment to see if robotic cleaners were something for us. We figured we could upgrade to the Roomba if we liked the Roborock. We like having one. So in July of this year, I bought the 600 series iRobot – SUPPOSEDLY the superior and original model. Glad I got both for comparison! The iRobot overall has proven to be a failed experiment. After all of the hype, we never saw that coming. The ROOMBA simply canNOT navigate our single step down into our great room. We cannot use it on the higher level surface unless we stack chairs along the drop off into the great room …. We need a total of four chairs staked against the drop off so that the Roomba hits the legs and does not feel stuck “on the edge of a cliff. “ Yes. This is the message it sends to my cell - lovely to know someone installed a mini Grand Canyon indoors when we weren’t looking! The eye to sense a drop off has not EVER worked right out of the box. I interpret this as faulty design. Meanwhile, the Robo rock is smart as a whip and knows that there is a drop there; it runs up to the edge, senses the drop off, and backs off 100% of the time. This frees up me as a homeowner to attend to other tasks - the whole purpose behind buying a robotic floor cleaner ! With the ROBOROCK, there are NO annoying texts and NO unit failure messages. It just goes and does its job!!! In addition, the ROOMBA has trouble seating itself on the base/ charging unit, even though I have it clear of surrounding encumbrances as required. Often, it can’t seem to find it at all. At times, the ROOMBA sticks itself in a blank corner with nothing around it spinning in endless circles. I then have to go pick it up and set it right in front of the base unit so it can find it. I’ve even cleaned all the heads several times, moved it to different outlets and locations, and done everything to make sure that all the magnetic & radio signals are working just fine. It’s just reaching its six month anniversary with me and all I can say is, I’m glad I got it during a sales day and didn’t spend the full amount on it! It does seem that the iRobot May clean carpet slightly better? … just a guess - but it’s easy enough to run the Robo rock twice or run a vacuum over it first if needs warrant - which should be done anyway once in a while. The other convenience behind the ROBOROCK is that the ROBOROCK has cleanable filters. Whereas the ROOMBA requires the buyers to keep buying new filters. Again, NO TIME SAVED there. Only aggravation and more money invested into an already substandard unit. Can’t imagine ever buying another IRobot product !!!! It’s a needy little sucker ! ... show more
