Looking for an affordable temp reader for my new grill. Ran across this one and the price was one of the best I had found. Nothing fancy but does what I wanted. Find the temp of the grill surface. Very happy and a great price too.

I found it slightly inconsistent and ranged up to (+/-) 3 degrees when compared to a $90 unit although sometimes it was spot on. The above statement assumes the $90 unit is more accurate. This is not a bad thermo gun for the $. If you know or can figure out, or learn from the directions and chart. How to calibrate ( use an anolog or basic thermometer to use as your standard temp.) And set the EMS according to the included chart. Than you can get a pretty accurate temp. reading, within +_- 1 deg. To change from c to f hold down the left button for a second or 2 turn off the laser using the right button. The middle button selects the modes, which will be shown on the screen. Then use the r+ l buttons to change values up or down. It works the same as they all do. None of these are automatic. They come from the factory with pre set defaults. But you can change them. So for the $ this one does the same thing just as good as the more expensive models. And with Amazon if you don't like it call them they will send you a different model and give you a free return label. ... show more
