The detachable Bluetooth keyboard is east to type on and the RGB backlit keys make typing in the dark easy. Battery life if good as I have not had to charge the keyboard at all. I have had it for around a week already with daily use. Great setup for the money! Definitely recommend! Only issue was the packaging came all smashed up. I’ve only had this for a week but I love it so far. Holds my iPad securely, it seems sturdy but lightweight Love that the keypad sticks magnetically to the case in several position so you can move the screen to an upright position and still have the keyboard attached to the case.

This ipad case w/keyboard sold by TYPECASE could have been a 5/5 except for 2 issues. #1- The description of the case on Amazon’s website in the specification grid right at the top says this case has AUTO SLEEP/WAKE WHICH MOST FOLKS PRESUME MEANS IT PUTS THE IPAD INTO AUTO-SLEEP/WAKE due to magnetic edges or something .... which is not true. ... at least with my new Gen 8 (2020) 10.2” ipad. The ipad AUTO-SLEEP only works if the user actually REMOVES THE MAGNETIC KEYBOARD from the case prior to closing the case. This means the user has basically one of 2 choices : either leave the keyboard in the unit as it is designed to do RESULTING IN HUGE IPAD BATTERY DRAIN because it will not autosleep then .... or constantly remove the keyboard which is massively inconvenient to do dozens of times a day when one takes a short break from working but wants the ipad to auto-sleep to conserve battery life. As a former teacher of Engineering, I now wonder if the poorly worded specification chart ACTUALLY MEANT that the backlighting of the keyboard will AUTO-SLEEP (which is accurate). The other issue that prevents 5/5 is that after snapping the ipad into the inner protective (polyurethane?) wrap-around for the ipad, the exterior cover of the case (which has a nice look and feel) .... for fashion purposes only ..... overhangs beyond 3 of 4 of the ipad edges by about 1/8”-1/4”. Why would that be an issue? Those overhangs actually interfere with ACCESSING THE PHYSICAL VOLUME UP/DOWN BUTTONS ... which results in user “picking at/inside” that edge overhang to work those buttons. I am a careful person (taught Engineering for 32 years) and this overhang design is already making the outer surface by the volume controls look damaged and I’ve only owned the case for less than 2 weeks! “Pros” include: 3 brightness levels of the backlit keyboard, 7 nice backlight colors (My preference is bright green), the keys have a great “feel” when typing and appear nice and sturdy, the backlighting goes to “sleep” when no typing occurs within about 1 minute which GREATLY EXTENDS BATTERY POWER for the bluetooth keyboard, and a price of just under $40 pretty much beats everyone else! While a 4/5 score is not perfect, I would still recommend it if you are ok with the issues pointed out. ... show more

Honest review from a real human. I just purchased an iPad Air (2019), after finally upgrading from the original iPad Air (2013). I also had the iPad 3rd gen (). I have had Logitech keyboard cases on all my iPads over the years and have been extremely happy with them. Even when one of the brackets broke, Logitech replaced my Ultra Thin Keyboard Folio with the upgraded model... the Type+. However, when upgrading to the iPad Air 2019, and seeing that the Logitech Slim Folio was $99, I decided to shop around a bit (cuz that price tag is just high enough to be annoying). I ended up purchasing this item, the Typecase Folio Keyboard Case. I am not happy with this product. There are several reasons why. 1. The magnetic keyboard requires relocation upon opening and closing the case. That's right, when you open the case from a fully closed state, you cannot (reasonably) position the iPad to begin typing right away. You have to detach the magnetic keyboard and place it somewhere "further down the line" to make room for the iPad to sit at a reasonable tilt/viewing angle. This reason ALONE is reason enough to completely abandon any thought of using this keyboard (at least, for me personally). I am stunned that this keyboard got so many high ratings (I'm beginning to wonder if many thousands of them are plants). I called customer support to see if I was doing something wrong... just rang and rang, no human answer. UPDATE: I did get a call back from them, actually... and the nice man on the phone did confirm to me that you have to move the keyboard for each open and close. 2. Bluetooth drops connectivity often. After giving it a full charge upon receipt, I have been using it for about 1 hour now, and the connection has dropped twice. 3. No sleep/wake functionality. They claim to have this (in the answered questions), but I have closed it completely, and I can still see through the cracks that my iPad is still on. When I called customer support, they did confirm to me that the sleep/wake functionality should be working, but that I should check the settings on the iPad. This is nonsense. The iPad has magnets in the outer rim that control this. My suspicion is that the detachable keyboard has to be lined up perfectly in order for this to work... but I've still not been able to get it to work. 4. Keyboard not sturdy. I am used to the case and keyboard being one continuous piece. Not so with this one. If you happen to be typing with a small portion of the keyboard off of a table (like a corner), the keyboard will actually pop out of the magnetic surface. Not only is this startling, but it is actually unsecure, leaving the iPad to potentially fall (either forward or backward). 5. Keys are not to my preference. The keys are smaller than the ones on the Logitech. I don't love that. Also, the travel on these keys is a lot longer than what I'm used to. This could be a personal preference, so don't put too much stock in my observations with regard to travel. Now, to give some positives (cuz I don't want to be all doom and gloom)... the backlit keys with the color cycling is very cool. Also, the quality of the leather and the overall protection of the device (when it's in protect mode) is legit. However, neither of these features is enough to overcome the negatives I've outlined above (or even just the first one). I would not recommend this case to anyone I know. Unless you have a specific use case for this type of setup, you will very likely be disappointed. I guess I'm going to have to drop some coin and go with a quality product.
