I set this 12 foot pool up on concrete. I put a liner underneath, and because I live in the country and have well water, I purchased a filter for my hose. As I was filling this up, I got on my hands and knees to get out all the wrinkles so the bottom would be smooth, and then let it fill up. It's very helpful to watch a few YouTube videos on how to set these up. I am a 64-year-old woman, and was very proud of myself for how nice it turned out! I can get on my little raft, and float in the sun. I purchased everything for my pool off of Amazon. I bought a battery sweeper which picks up debris off the bottom of the pool, and also a fine net with the pole included, and a scrubber which scrubs the bottom and sides of the pool. I also purchased the solar cover, an Intex pool cover, and all chemicals and test strips from Amazon. had some trouble getting my chemicals balanced at first, but went down to the local pool store and they tested the water for free and made suggestions for me to correct. I also bought a nicer filter at the pool store, and that has made a big difference in keeping my water clean. So glad I purchased this pool. I purchased a small pool from Walmart for the back yard but it didn't come with a cover.... I wasn't going back and paying those prices for one either. This cover was absolutely everything I was looking for. It is so easy to put on I can literally do it by myself. It has survived two hail storms in the last week and there is no damage to it.     • "Easy Set" is accurate, but...
Size: 8-Foot
The media could not be loaded. We "installed" this on our poured concrete covered back patio on rubber pads. This ensured a level base, and not-so-hard footing. Power for the (not-included) filter/pump was provided by a solar generator (solar panels connected to a solar controller connected to a 100 amp-hour LiFePo battery and 1,000 watt power inverter) and normally ran on sunny or even partly cloudy days from about 10am until about 4pm daily. I reused the filter/pump and hoses from a metal-framed Intex pool used for several years before this one. Pro: * "Easy set" is an accurate name: Unbox, layout where you want the pool, inflate the "top ring" (I used an electric air pump - the amount of inflation needed is about the same as a 2-3 large-ish beach balls), attach the filter/pump in/out to the various in/out hoses, connect them to the pool, fill with water - be sure the wrinkles in the bottom of the pool are appropriately smoothed flat (flattening after filling will be very difficult). Cons: * If someone leans on the top/side, water will be pouring out. Refilling is easy enough, but this was not an issue with the previous Intex metal-framed above-ground pool that this Easy Set replaced. * The pool we received had an itty-bitty leak where the inflated part connecter to the part of the pool holding the water. It was too late to return. I thought about getting a repair kit (like the one we have for our water bed years ago), and never got around to it. I am interested to see what, if anything is wither growing or decaying under the rubber pads... Honestly, I did not want to empty the water with a replacement (then refill) since we're in the western US and well, you know, drought. Assuming you plan to use this for people cooling off, you will also want: * Pool chemical test kit * Various pool chemicals (pH increase or reduce, alkalinity increase or reduce, chorine tabs and floater/dispenser, phosphate control * A solar heater or two (in series) if the pool doesn't get direct sunlight. That means you may need some "extension hoses". Harbor Freight as 25 foot long black, 1 1/4" hoses normally used for sump pumps that fit. And the black will absorb more sunlight/heat than the white hoses (that might need to be coupled together for similar length). * A net normally used for a spa (leaves & bugs + stirring the water when chemicals are added). * The Intex round cover for this pool - others reported difficulty covering the round pool - I did not have any difficulty and regularly covered/uncovered myself with no help... and I'm in my 60s. Suggestion: We installed the pool on concrete and used twenty 2' x 2' x 1/2" rubber interlocking pads and made a 4 pad x 5 pad rectangle. The 1/3" pads should work fine, too. Future: After just one season with this Easy Set, we are moving back to the metal frame version. ... show more
