  • Beats $10,000 for “real” above ground pool
Size: 26' x 52"
This is our 3rd Intex pool. Started with the “bubble”, then had 15’ metal frame, now this 26’ ultra frame. This is a HUGE pool! The box that it came in was delivered by freight truck (400+lbs). Trucking company dropped it at the end of our driveway, thank goodness we have a tractor so we were able to move it, but something to keep in mind. We were already familiar with setup from our other pool so it was fairly straightforward. The most difficult part of assembly was getting the final piece of top rail locked in. Please do not believe the listing when it says “ready in hour”. It will take you days unless you have a crew, and even then at least a day before you even start adding water. My husband and I did it ourselves. I’m going to give you some tips to help with installation, but the number one tip is find the You Tube video from Pawpaws Place. It’s about an hour long and he takes you from beginning to end. Follow every step and you will be good! Helpful hints: 1. Level, level, level. Make sure your site is almost perfectly level. Any deviation will skew how the water sits in the pool. You have about 1” that you can be off. Any more and it won’t be good. 2. Get liner as wrinkle free as you can before you put on legs, this will make it easier for you later when you start adding water to get the rest of the wrinkles out. 3. If you’re planning to leave up year round, put something under each leg. Pawpaw recommends 12x12x1” blocks, but to be honest, that’s way more digging than we wanted to do. I ended up going to a metal fab shop and have them make 8x8x1/4” plates (26). I think they’ll hold well. 4. This does not come with a backwash hose. Purchased backwash hose and clamp from Lowe’s and we had to buy some PVC fittings to make it work. 5. They don’t come with a skimmer basket anymore. Highly recommend purchasing one to get the surface crud. 6. The supplied ground cloth is pretty thin. We had some geo textile cloth that we put under the ground cloth for added protection. 7. Use a level and keep checking legs both side to side and front to back as the water goes in. This is where the ground leveling comes into play. If your ground is not level, liner with push out on some legs, and cause others to move inward. Fill slowly and check, check, and recheck. We are on a well so I had to go slow with water -55 minutes twice a day. I checked leg level before each addition. Got pool filled to about 4,000 gal then had another 6,200 trucked in. We went around and around with level as water was going in and made adjustments. They will reach a point where you cannot move them anymore . All in all, I think it’s worth the time and money. Pool company wanted over $10,000 for metal walled pool and installation. I just couldn’t fork over that much. With pool, water, and misc. things, I’d guess we have about $2500 in it. The seller was great, I had a couple of questions and they responded immediately. Would definitely recommend if you don’t mind some hard work. Watch the video by Pawpaws Place! ... show more

  • Incredible Pool for the Price!
Size: 18' x 52"
We LOVE this pool. We bought the round 18' x 52" ultra frame pool. It came with a cover, pump, ladder, ground cover and the pool. We bought it in April when there was a deal of the day and Intex pools were 25% off! Plus, we used our Prime card so we got 5% back! I definitely recommend waiting for the price to fall before just buying it because this product has fluctuated in price quite a bit since I started watching it a year ago! Okay now for the details: 1. Pool - super sturdy, heavy liner. You'll definitely need 2 people to move it and set it up. The frame itself is sturdy, but very easy to set up! We were actually impressed with how smoothly the setup process went. It was the easiest part of the whole process. 2. Ladder - slightly narrow and very light. However, after doing some research I found the width of this is fairly common. We plan to upgrade to a safer, heavy duty ladder next year. 3. Pump - took about 30 min to assemble, but is very easy and directions are detailed. It's very easy to use and we love the timer function so we can set it up to turn on/off by itself each day! The pool is super clear too! 4. Cover - this is my biggest complaint about the product. The cover seems to be of good quality, but it will not stay on the pool. It comes with a drawstring type system to hold it on, but even with the slightest wind it blows off. We can't get it tight enough. However, it's not that big of deal because the pool heats up rather quickly in the sun. 5. Ground cover - nice size and it added peace of mind as we set up the liner. *Additional advice - make sure to properly prepare for your pool. We measured, cleared sod, leveled the ground, ran the proper electrical line, and researched the best way to maintain clean water. The research and preparation took much longer than the actual assembling of the pool! I highly recommend this product for the money! ... show more

  • Good pool upgrade with "safety" hack
Size: 24' x 52"
This was a needed upgrade for the kids. We've had a 12'x30" Intex for years, since 2015. That pool actually was pretty durable and just recently started rusting out. I would take it down after summer. Last summer my 13 year old son would stand up and his knees would be above the water line. This year we got this pool and it is a great size for the whole family of 7. It is built just like any Intex pool. They are high quality parts but still inexpensively built. There is no hard metal outside sheet like a traditional pool to protect the liner, but the liner is heavy built. After filling it up there was a small pin hole leak in the pool which I fixed with gorilla clear underwater patch tape. I don't think the pool came with the hole. I'm pretty sure a kid was hitting the pool with something sharp. However there has been no leaks since. My wife and I were concerned about our 18 month old twins climbing the ladder and falling in the pool. Those little guys get everywhere and fast. My daughter suggested taking a step out of the ladder. Which I did. From day 1 both little guys tried to climb the ladder as expected. However after a few failed attempts they have gone all summer without caring to climb up. So a success there. If you're concerned it's an easy free fix. I plan on leaving this pool up and draining down below the skimmer each winter. Hopefully that works out. ... show more
