Firstly I LOVE that this is a botanical gel with a FIRM hold. Most botanical gels I've come across give a soft hold. The only reason I gave this one 4 stars and not 5 is because of the learning curve and the price. I wasted a lot of product trying to understand how to use this and because it's not a cheap product I also wasted some money. I will def repurchase this but for those of you trying it for the first time here's what I learned: 1. Hair MUST be soaking wet - if your hair is damp you will not get good results. So, if you have to re-wet your hair do it (even after applying the gel) 2. Use a moisturise/ leave-in under the gel - I have thick type 4 hair and I utilize Ayurvedic practices to care for my hair. If I use the gel alone my hair be way too dry and will knot up. (The leave-in that works for me is the Lotta Body Coconut & Shea oils Moisturise Me Curl & Style Milk) 3. Be careful what products u mix with this - if a product is not compatible it will pill and/or flake 4. Use less of the product than u think you need - go bit by bit at first as not to waste and see how the product fares with your hair and then next time apply more if it wasn't sufficient. ... show more

I have 3a curls that go to the middle of my back. I use one full pump and distribute through my hair after using a hair turban. Defines and holds my hair without giving it a gel like texture. I love the natural scent it has as well. One bottle lasted my 6 months so you get moneys worth.

What I liked about the products I’ve used from Innersense is the fragrances have been nice. I liked that I Create Hold actually kept my hair from looking frizzy for the most part. There’s no super crispy, feel, or greasy feel. There’s not a lot of shine, though. I’ve been using the hydrating hair bath, and conditioner, along with I Create Volume and I Create Hold. From the get-go I’ve had several problems though. I noticed right away that sometimes my scalp would itch. My hair strands would stick together after using the shampoo and conditioner, and the I Create Volume seemed to add to that. I definitely had to be careful to not run my fingers through my hair at all after it was dry. When I wake up in the morning, I have horrible tangles towards the ends of my hair, something I didn’t have a problem with before, and I noticed that my hair started falling out quite a bit. When I ordered this new bottle of I Create Hold the product seemed much thicker than the original bottle I had purchased, and immediately my scalp started burning and itching whenever I used it. I contacted Carbon Beauty about the problem and no one ever got back to me. I’m so disappointed because I had high hopes that I’d finally found products that didn’t make my hair look either greasy or crispy after styling. I cannot use the products in the shower, because where ever the residue touches the rest of my skin even though I rinse off thoroughly, I’ve developed a random rashes all over my body. I would say if you have sensitive skin, see if you can get samples or buy small bottles of the products before investing. My sister has hair that’s much less curly than mine so she uses different products in the Innersense line and has no problems. She loves it and it makes her hair look beautiful. Unfortunately for me, between the tangles, the hair loss, and the burning itching scalp I am going to have to continue to look elsewhere for compatible hair care products. ... show more
