I was shopping around for something that I could soak my aging hips that was big enough for someone 5' 8" with limited flexibility to get into and out of safely and Voila! I read the reviews, watched a lot of YouTube videos, compared prices and I picked this one. Not sorry. It went together easily and if you are wondering about size, I fit quite nicely in it with room even with my wonky hip. What I hadn't considered was the buoyancy factor.     • Not worth the trouble

What I really wanted was a hot tub, but since that isn't allowed where I live I thought this might,in some small way, satisfy that desire. It doesn't. I read all of the reviews and scrutinized all of the pictures and finally decided to order it. There was nothing wrong with the tub. I received exactly what was promised. It was easy to set up. It fit nicely in my small stall shower. I had read in many reviews about the potential draining problems so I put something under it to allow the water to reach the drain. I did not, however, remember to close the drain valve before beginning to fill the tub and ended up flooding my bathroom. Even so I had plenty of time to clean up while waiting and waiting and waiting for the tub to fill. If you just want this tub to be able to sit and wash in shallow water up to your waist because you don't have a tub at all then this might be a good purchase for you. But I wanted to sit in hot water up to my neck and soak away sore muscles. In order to do this I had to basically empty my hot water heater. And it took easily over 20 minutes to get it full enough to cover my shoulders. The little pillow wasn't necessary because the body's natural bouyancy keeps you from feeling any pressure from "sitting on to the floor". The cover was nice because it keeps the heat in while you soak. What it doesn't do is keep the heat in the water for another soak later in the day. I tried draining half the water and adding more hot for a second soak that evening but I hadn't drained enough cold away to get the proper temp I was looking for. I guess with enough experimentation you could figure out the proper mix but it still took a very long time to fill. Draining also takes a long time because I had to open the drain only part way to avoid flooding my bathroom again. Getting out of the tub was not a problem for me because my shower has handicap safety rails along two sides making it very easy to pull myself up and out. I'm not sure how I would have managed it otherwise. I did not have trouble stepping out of it because I am tall with long legs but someone shorter might have some difficulty. Finally, there is the problem of what to do with the thing when I wanted to take a shower instead of a bath. It basically took over my bathroom. In summary, the tub was exactly what it claimed to be but I should have listened to my own misgivings and passed on this purchase. It is just too much trouble to be worth the 10-15 minutes you will spend actually soaking in it. ... show more

    • You can lean back!

One concern for me with the idea of a free standing tub is if it would buckle if you try to lean back and rest your head. Once you fill it with water, you really start to see how tough and strong it has to be to contain all of that pressure though, so with the buoyancy of the body in water, it really isn't that much more to rest a bit against the wall and use the air ring ledge as a pillow. Finally, coming from a place where baths are long rather than deep, I worried I would feel unsatisfied or not relaxed having to use a bath in a seated position, but it was so satisfying to submerge deeply that I actually prefer this now to a long tub after just one use! Concerning size, it is actually bigger than you might picture in your head. I am a taller person at close to six feet, but have a short torso so my chin is below the edge of the tub when sitting normally. Even with long legs, it is still comfortable to sit, but some positions have you pushed against the side of the tub, so really tall people would probably want to consider if they will enjoy a knees bent up in a tent position kind of thing. A bonus: I find I only need to fill the tub half way and get a deep bath because of the water displacement. My only complaint at this point is that I don't get how the lid is supposed to work. I would have thought it would go on like a jar lid, but it's smaller in diameter than the bath so I could kind of get it to snug down inside the tub. It is a little awkward because of my short torso too, if the lid sits on top and I put my head through the lid, only my head from the eyes up comes through! Maybe that's why the lid can be wedged down inside the tub instead of sitting on top? Anyway, I hope it will stand up over time or repair securely because I want to enjoy this tub for a long time! ... show more
