My niece has been raising chickens for several years and has used other incubators that resulted in very poor hatch rates so we decided to try this unit. She won’t be raising a brood until the weather warms, so we just unboxed the unit and gave all the functions a quick trial. She plans to update this posting and report on the hatch rate this spring. The unit arrived in good condition with all of the pieces. As others have mentioned, set up was incredibly easy. Select the egg tray (chicken/duck or small eggs), add water, and plug it in. It is factory preset to 100 deg F and 60% humidity as recommended for chickens. Adjustments to these setting are very straightforward. The main thing I wanted to test was the accuracy, uniformity and stability of the temperature setting. At startup, I inserted a digital BBQ thermometer that I have previously tested for accuracy. The unit heated up about 30 degrees in a matter of minutes and matched the test thermometer that I had placed at egg level to within a half a degree. Over a four hour test period, it held the temperature right at 100 degrees plus/minus a few tenths. I consider these superior results, and the combination of a strong heater, an effective recirculation fan, an accurate and calibrated temperature probe, and a sensitive/quick controller give me confidence that the unit will perform well when the time comes. A few final comments. The humidity level needed the unit to heat up before it arrived at the set point as expected, and I like the fact that the water feed bottles were visible and easy to see when they needed to be refilled. Also, this unit was extremely quiet. Finally, I intentionally opened the unit during the test period to see how it handled the disruption. It immediately started beeping a temperature deviation warning and quickly brought it back to the set point. I can think of a couple situations where that is probably a very useful feature. ... show more

    • Fantastic incubator!
The media could not be loaded. This is a fantastic little incubator. Shipping was super fast and packaged very nicely. In the video I show everything that is included in the package, but it was heating up nicely when I immediately plugged it in and looks like a great quality incubator. It is a smart incubator so that is a huge plus for anyone. I really like this. I think it’s a great value for the price. ... show more

    • Understanding the instructions: what to expect and what not to expect.
I was impressed when I received this incubator. It is light but seems well built. This is my discovery as I unpacked it and set it up. The instructions are fairly thorough but there are some wrong uses of words but it is easily enough interpreted to its meaning. There is no "on" and "off" switch, but I think that is common on incubators. The trays do not say up or down so place them correctly. I ran it for 2+ hours for the test run according to directions. It measured up. There is a small window at the top of the dome that says "on" and "off." It should say "open" and "closed." I thought I should point that out. The print on the top is in very small white letters on a yellow background which make them hard to read but I was able to make it out. I hope this helps and if I discover anything else important, I will add to this. ... show more

Product worked OK for the first hatchlings. Only about half of them hatched. A couple of them had some abnormalities. There was definitely some inconsistencies and temperature and humidification towards the end of the first incubation cycle of 21 days. I am definitely willing to give this another try I would love to replace this product with a new one. ... show more

Very easy to set up. Started it up last night and ran all day. Was 100 degrees perfect when I got home from work. Added my 10 eggs and water for humidity was simple too! I hope to have chicks soon. Will post again. Years ago I had one of those styrofoam incubators. That was a pain. We got chicks but it was quite a hassle. This is super duper easy and takes up a very small space. Looking forward to ducks next! ... show more

    • Don’t waste your time or money
99% sure I received a used incubator. Upon opening my incubator I just received in the mail, the power cords were out of the packaging and opened and parts that shows are included with the incubator are missing. Decided to try using it anyway, as I have eggs that are going to not be viable if I don’t get them in the incubator asap. The incubator will not even turn on when plugged in, which I assume is why the power cords were already out of the packaging as someone else probably returned this item and then was sent to me afterwards. ... show more

This unit hold its temperature and humidity well. Just add water to the bottles and set the humidity level you want to maintain. Temperature holds with in a degree or two. The unit is not real big so it doesnt take up a lot of space, easy to setup with or without the directions.

Just got this for my daughter who is in 4H and wants to raise chickens at her school. I don’t know much about hatching but everything was packaged well and seems really good quality for the money I paid.
