It is the only way to wall mount a TV with completely hiding the mount and is the closest you can get to the wall. Allows your installation to look virtually invisible AKA like artwork. Other slim or low profile mounts have a problem with cables. They can get close to the wall but have no room for the cables to go. The In Wall TV Mount allows the extending arms and cables to hide inside the wall when stored. The back of the TV when installed correctly will touch the wall. Leaving no wall bracket or cables in sight. LONG EXTENSION 28" : This mount also has long extending arms for corner mount applications or for full 180 degree pivoting for most sized televisions. Good solid mount with great features. However, you need to be aware of some shortcomings in the design before you start installing it. There are basically 4 issues: 1) The instructions tell you to center the mount where you want the center of the TV to be. I took that on faith (silly me) and carefully measured everything as I was building up the wall from scratch & installing in-wall speakers. I got everything within 1/16". When I finally had the walls finished and went to install it, I found that the actual plate that the TV mounts to is off-center to the right by 5/8". Photos attached. This is disappointing. I worked like mad to get everything perfect, and now it cannot be. This is infuriating to a perfectionist engineer like myself. 2) The cable knockouts are severely limited in their usefulness, because of the location of the main supports for the articulating piece of the mount. If you look on here, you'll see that they recommend using a recessed style outlet because of this. OK...but here's the other thing: it forces you to use a "brush" style plate for your cables coming in. I had planned to use (and had bought all the stuff for) keystone jacks. Fortunately, I had just enough cabling to get around this issue. But, it could be a major issue if someone doesn't realize this. 3) You cannot just drop in an old-work style low-voltage ring or receptacle box. Those expect a minimum thickness of wallboard, and the sheet metal is far too thin for them to grab on. Solution is to super-glue 1/2" shims to the back-side of the knockout edges. 4) I was originally planning to use 5/8" drywall on my project. After inspecting this mount, I changed to 1/2" instead, because I don't think it will work with 5/8" or thicker...it would be dicey to say the least. Firstly, the knockouts are spaced 1/2" from the front lip. Secondly, the initial set of lags you use to hold the frame in the wall are precariously close to the leading edge of the stud even using 1/2" drywall. Anything thicker, and they probably miss. It is a nice mount, but really needs some design updates--ESPECIALLY THE OFF-CENTER PLATE. ... show more

After much searching I settled on this mount and am happy with the results. I was able to install this on my own - once the framing and drywall work was completed. I wanted to center the mount over a fireplace and soon realized that required a bit of framing re-work. I should have painted the studs black before I installed the mount as a bit of the wood will be visible. I did get and use better lag bolts as was rightly recommended. Be sure to install power outlet and cables plates BEFORE you install the articulating arm in the box. I used 15' long HDMI, Ethernet and Toslink cables to connect the TV to the AV receiver and network through "Datacomm 45-0001-BL Recessed Low Voltage Cable Plate Black" instead of trying keystone wall plates. Power is supplied via a "Leviton 689-E 1-Gang Recessed Duplex Receptacle - Ebony" and Carlon Electrical Old Work Box, Blue, 1 gang, 20 cu in. ... show more

    • Easy install but watchout for outlet knockouts
I just installed this yesterday and here are a couple of my learnings 1. If you are going to use knockouts for data/cable and power. Make sure you have some 90 degree adapters or low profile plugs. Once you install the TV holder frame, there is very little clearance to actually connect 1a - Solution - install recessed outlets, although that makes it harder to get the connections in 1b - Once you have the main box installed and you have the outlets setup for power and data, install your 90 degree connectors and what I did, I connected the power to low profile plus and short power leads >> I'd recommend 1b and have the leads and connectors installed before you install the TV support frame. >> a better solution would be if the manufacturer increased the outer box size 2" (1" top and bottom) which would give you the necessary room. 2. Make sure you have the main box oriented correctly when you install. The TV hanger has some small tangs that helps you locate the frame inside the box. I installed the original box incorrectly, so I pulled it out and turned and reinstalled, which makes installing the TV hanger part easier. 3. Hanging the TV on the 2 screws was a little dicky, but having 2 people is critical. I would suggest that these 2 screws be a little longer for future versions, but with 2 people it was manageable to get this situated. All in all a great exercise. The TV hanger works great. I have a 75" 80lb TV so it was relatively easy install all over. and I like the ability to pull the whole TV out so I can get at the wiring; plenty of room to locate cable boxes, tie up wiring without squeezing or chopping wires. This is a very nice TV mount I would recommend to anyone willing to cut a hole in their wall. The way it mounts is more sturdy than any other mount I have ever installed or seen. It allows the TV to get very close to the wall unlike surface style mounts since all the arm tucks away neatly into the wall giving a Picture frame look instead of the tv hanging from the wall look. The closeness to the wall was the main selling point for to me since the side of the TV is walked past entering a hallway and with a typical mount you can usually see the mess of wires and mounting system. I also already had all my equipment in the adjacent room so the cables simpily run out a hole in the wall just below the mounts cable exit. A bit of wire loom made the cables all but disappear but the cable holders are large enough to hold all my cables. ... show more
