  • Amazing, versatile and powerful little amp
IN MY OPINION, this amp offers better sound reproduction than the amps on my Burson Conductor 3 Reference, RME ADI-2 DAC FS, FiiO K9 Pro and iFi Neo iDSD. The multiple output / processing options are also a significant added touch: we have solid state, tube, tube+; standard headphone separation, narrow speaker separation, medium speaker separation and wide speaker separation; no bass boost, 10Hz boost, 20Hz boost and 40Hz boost. There are also 3 levels of gain available for headphone use (two levels for preamp use). I mostly listen to this set to tube output, medium separation and 10Hz boost to my Meze Elite via 4 pin XLR output. I can also listen to my FiiO FH5S Pro IEMs through the 4.4mm balanced output to good effect. This amp is amazing. Almost all my other cans also sound their best on it, from Sennheiser, to Denon, Focal, HiFiMan, Oppo and Audeze. Although my super detailed Audio Technica ATH-ADX5000 really sound their best on my silky smooth Feliks Audio Espressivo Mk II tube amp. I'm good for now. No need to upgrade again for... I dunno, maybe a month? Edit: Five weeks later.... So I just purchased the HeadAmp GS-X mini balanced headphone amp. I like my iFi Pro iCAN Signature a little better. ... show more

  • Amazon has your Back !!! usa ifi are bad / uk ifi had to intervene to fix my situation
ifi Pro iCAN Signature is stellar ... $2,423.30 kinda stellar (i am very happy being able to chose from solid state/TUBE sound)... they'r customer service here in USA is just bad, bad, bad, bad, bad, bad. - if i had the option for device STARS (5stars) - if i had the option for the ease of going trough the process of warranty/ STARS (0 Stars) (let's meet in the middle , not trying to be an ass but i lost some hair ) - i took somebody from UK to make things right (thank you Jhon!) - i reach to customer service an told them i suspect tube went bad because i can hear static sound and pop / crackling noises and to ask "if i open the amplifier and change the Tube will i Void my Warranty ?" / short answer = YES if you damage the device / .....customer ticket CLOSED by representative .....dude ask me if i want to send in the device for repairs - the story is too long... 2 months long.... / my unit made 2 trips back and forth across America ... - that "SERVICE FORM" iFi is asking for...... don;t even bother, it took 1 moth for me to lose my patience and reached out to Amazon ( THANK YOU AMAZON !) because nobody was answering me at iFi ...... just to hear ("oh yeah.. the tube was bad and we just swap it"..... bro.... 10 min job... you kidding me ... 6 weeks to find out the unit i got back the crackling sound was not so bad anymore but still there.... - they say'd they gonna send me a AC purifier "i reply i don;t need anything for free, just wanna have my device up and running" they ended up on sending me a GND Defender..... (it's going to end up in a trash bin if i don't find someone to give it away for free) The amplifier is AMAZING ! the bass Boost is pure MAGIC ! the 3D i tried but i keep it off PLENTY OF POWAAAAAAAARRRRR ... i actually have to be careful not to breake my headphones i use it with HD800S solid state when playing games / tube when listening to music (tube makes music shine ! ) will i ever buy iFi products ? that's a head scratcher .... ... show more

  • Great thus far
Thought I'd write about this since there was almost nothing about it anywhere. First the negatives: Too expensive so I'm not sure what drives the crazy cost. You can buy a massive 50lb Yamaha amp for a little more. I gave 4 stars mainly because Toppings get stellar audio science reviews at a fraction of the cost. I'm new to these type products but it seems to perform as advertised best I can determine but not with any testing equipment. The original model I read had some distortion so I assume this is why the upgraded version and new power station. The original was $1,800 so it was somewhat odd they fixed their "errors" or oversights in design but then raised the price almost $500. That seems questionable to me. So I'm thinking if you are selling a top of the line device and touting its greatness you make certain it is dominate and worth the price. To be fair at this price it should beat all others hands down. Some third party is going to prove your claim sooner or later, it's all over the world in seconds. I can't tell much difference in the amp types except the solid state might be a tad brighter. The bass option is awesome and the 3D is really nice, I can feel the sound spreading out such as the sound stage in my headphones. The connection options are excellent and professional. The build quality is very high class. I noticed that the tubes glow but appear to be made brighter by LEDs on the circuit board. I assume this is only an effect or accent and doesn't provide any other benefits. The power station is space age modern and build like a tank. They said 300% quieter. I don't listen at loud levels so I don't know about any high volume distortion if there is any. The remote only turns up/down the motorized volume dial no power on/off feature which is a negative. I hate walking over to it guess I need the exercise but every $50 electronic device has a remote on/off function. I guess there's a reason but at nearly $2,300 that should be a thing. The audio science guy seemed to hate every tube amp ever made so this one was no different or on the original model. He did not review this improved version that I know of but hopefully Ican will redeem themselves for an additional $500. Topping gear is like $400 total and dominates the market according to reviews (probably per pricing scaled) however I do not own one yet. I doubt I could hear any differences anyway at lower volumes. I decided to buy this Ican for the headphone power originally and I enjoy the bass and 3D feature and I still switch the amps back and forth although I can't tell much difference. Not sure if it needs to burn in or not. The feel of this unit is impressive and attractive but if you could purchase two individual amp types for half the total price or less that makes a lot of sense. This is for a show off I think and I'd really love it for about $1,500. Might be the law of diminishing returns and I couldn't find any used new versions. I had the Neve and the Monolith tube both bought used for about $800 but those didn't have the dual function as a preamp. The Topping models do such as the A90. I suppose this would be worth the money if it lasted 20 years without any issue. For such a premium item it should have a 5 or 3 year warranty which I think is only 1. My problem is and like most others how does a consumer measure value of this premium item beyond surface functions, features and quality claims? It takes an independent science guy and lab to actually tell us if the manufacturer claims are real and true. I hope they test this one again. It looks fantastic and I do enjoy it but still wonder was it worth the high dollar amount? Some of it is an intangible value beyond just showing it off to your friends and bragging about owning it. I hope I purchased a product that is worth $2,300 because I still wonder about that and It does bother me. There was an analogy concerning the tube options about buying an exotic sports car with a feature that cuts the horsepower in half and you're expected to like it. The consumer has no practical way to test the claim that the product has now been improved or whether they even fixed the tube/power/distortion issue because I'm not an audio professional. The claim of improvement really needs to be professionally tested by a third party however as a positive the original tests weren't that bad, some were good, except that much cheaper devices beat it for its basic purpose for existing. I think the price-point factor weighed in. Topping is Chinese I think and this is stated to have been assembled in China on the back but a UK design/licensed etc. The parts appeared to be all top quality manufacturers as was advertised but then they likely have those same parts made in China. Please verify my understanding on your own if that matters to you personally. When you have another country assemble your product they learn how you built/designed it and then they copy it and even improve on it for no original cost to them. It's kind of a dumb thing to do surrendering trade and engineering secrets and then wondering later why they beat you at your own game. It's because you paid them to beat you and/or your own product. ... show more
